Dysko 93 Posted January 27, 2014 This saturday I've been in Sion airport in Switzerland with Spillone and other Italian spotters to see Swiss Air Force fighters deployed for CAP missions over the World Economic Forum in Davos. Here is Sion's most famous spotting point, located near an Hawker Hunter dedicated to Claude Nicollier, the first Swiss astronaut. He flew 4 times aboard the Space Shuttle, and he is the first European Space Agency astronaut to have performed a spacewalk from the Shuttle. Photos taken near runway 25 threshold. Special color for Fliegerstaffel 19's 75th Anniversary. Photos taken near runway 07 threshold. Even a spare Patrouille Suisse aircraft was used for air defence duties. Fliegerstaffel 18 "Panthers"'s special color. Some civilian planes. There is a plane you will find EVERYWHERE you will go: a yellow Piper Cub (this is actually a Super Cub). Sion's other gate guardian, a de Havilland Vampire.
