Instant Action Crashes

Recommended Posts

I'm having trouble with Instant Action crashing (hard) on my installed mods (in this case, India/Pak). Searching through the files here, I'm told to change two files: Options.ini and Flight/instantaction.ini. Doesn't work. Start-up crashes hard at 30%.

This is what I've done:

Changed the instant action section in options.ini to this:

[instantAction]
AircraftType=Sabre6_PAF
MissionMap=IndiaPak
StartTime=16:30:00
StartDate=06/18/1965
StartTimeDeviation=120
TextureSet=0
NationalMarking=0
SquadronMarking=0
AircraftNumber=0
KillMarking=0

and changed the instantaction.ini section to this:

[AircraftMission001]
AircraftType=Sabre6_PAF
Name=GUNSLINGER
FormationType=USFighter
Size=1
RandomChance=100
MissionType=INTERCEPT
ObjectiveID=2
Position=390020.000,554500.000,6100.0
Heading=0.0
Speed=250.0
FuelPercent=40
Alignment=FRIENDLY
Loadout=AirToAir
Aircraft[01].AircraftNumber=1
Waypoint[01].Position=393000.000,559000.000,1000.0
Waypoint[01].Size=1000.0
Waypoint[01].Command=CAS
Waypoint[01].Speed=200.0

I've also changed the mission map to IndiaPak.

Note that I've also deleted all the other IA missions (I don't play IA, but don't want it to crash if I accidentally hit that option).

What am I missing?

OK, fixed it. You need to do a little bit more to get things to work. The problem occurs because the obhectives and waypoints in InstantAction.ini don't correspond to the actual map.

First, you need to change the options.ini file as noted.

Then you need to start the mod, go into Single Mission, create a mission with the same aircraft you used in the Options.ini.

Save the mission to a file.

Close the program.

Copy the MissionData, Weather, and AircraftMission001 data from the .msn file to the instantacttion file, overwriting the data there.

Delete the other mission files.

Close the file.

Things should now work.
