it is likely. i kind of think the particle effect to water splashes kind of works though.

 

Well at the moment, the SS makes the splash seem like a 2d image that just unrealistically sticks out of the ocean like a piece of cardboard. It needs the concentric circles as well, to give it substance and weight. :)

I agree, and I already submitted the textures of the concentric circles for scary_pigeon, I think he didn't placed them because of fear of z-buffer glitches as the concentric circles are at zero alt (sea level indeed) but, now the engine is much more forgiving of textures overlayed at zero alt, as my Stanley airfield runway demonstrates. :)

it was because i was too lazy to add them: other stuff to do and all that.

 

main reason to do it in my opinion is so that splashes from vertically above can be seen.

particasl are 2-d bitmaps. they go out in 3d creating a 3d like image. each with the own life and direction/speed. so if your asking if the spalshes are 3d, if theer particals this is a given. pactical effects are a no brainer for any level graphics coder.
