Typhoon Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 A guy brought this model into the hangar today. No one could identify it. The first one to get it right gets absolutely nothing. except a little satisfaction. Quote
+Olham Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 (edited) Wot? I get nossink for it? Wot about a virtual Warsteiner at least? Typhoon, the models shows the triplane design by Pfalz. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pfalz_Dr.I The craft could have been a good fighter, had there not been the unreliability of the Siemens & Halske engine. Only a handfull saw front service. Edited October 25, 2015 by Olham Quote
JimAttrill Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 I have heard it was a good engine but let down by the ersatz castor oil that they had to use. Quote
UK_Widowmaker Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 Puts me in mind of the test plane that the guy was killed in on Blue Max Quote
+Olham Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 I have heard it was a good engine but let down by the ersatz castor oil that they had to use. Yes, I also read something like that. Widowmaker, the plane in The Blue Max was also silver, but it was a monoplane. Does anyone know, which aircraft that was? Quote
Hauksbee Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 The first one to get it right gets absolutely nothing. except a little satisfaction. Where does Olham go to collect his satisfaction? Quote
JimAttrill Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 The only monoplane I know of was the Fokker FVIII but there may have been others. Quote
JFM Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 The parasol in Blue Max was bogus, as far as it being a German plane. A quick search reveals it was a Morane 230 with the front cockpit faired over. Quote
