changing pilots looks

OK, I need a bit of help.

I am trying to change the pilots helmet. I have opened the PILOT.bmp, changed colors of the helmet, but it doesn't sow up as changed in the game.

 

And yeah, I did save it after I edited it. There must be another file I'm missing close by.

Nevermind. I got it.

My retarded ass was not puting the pilot.bmp in the aircraft folder, I was leaving it where it extracted to.

Did a search here and found the info I needed!!

LOL! Yeah its hard bein a dingbat isnt it? Ive had to live with it all my life... sorry part is, as I get older, it aint gettin any better.

 

Now that I have helped to make you feel better, whats the chances of showing some of those helmets you made or is that one the only one? If it is, I might try my luck at doin some helmets.

I think the pilots could be made better with darker green flight suits..or even camo ones...if you look at the suits in the cockpits they almost look white...

Nice, now where do u save it and where do u extract it from? :)

Extract the file pilot.bmp from the objects.cat file

Edit the image and save in your objects/aircraft folder

Anyway you can put it into the specific A/C folder? and still have it work correctly?

 

Take it another step, lol, anyway you can put into the different skins folders? :)

Just having one problem, i'm trying to do Russian helmets, i have the proper pics, teh only problem i have is that damn visor, is it that black square in teh upper left hand corner?]

 

Funny, somehow my suits are already camoed, i looked at them and they are a nice olive drab with varying dark colors of green.

mine appeared to look camoed in the bmp but in the game it wasn't dark enough.

I've noticed that a real dark green looks pretty light once the bmp is on the pilot in the game

Think it might be because of the canopy glass ? anyway we could make that matte n not glossy?
