Need help in installing all the SF2 files - individual or combined.

Recommended Posts

I have been away from the SF-series for several years and now have a new computer.  I want to install all the SF2 files

I believe I have the following (see below)

I have the SF2-Vietnam files installed.

But now I want to install the rest.

Do I install each one individually or

Is there a combined install that should be done (something in my memory says that is the way to go).  If so, how do I do that.

Are there any special tools that I need to modify some of the files if I install mods or skins....etc etc.

By the way, from the list, which is on Israel Expansion Pk 1.  I thought I got that, but don't see it.

Hey Jack, Welcome back...

WOI may be SF1? Also FE is installed separately and doesn't merge with the rest of SF2 - as far as I know...other than that, check these threads for order and notes...

Thanks Viper,,,

Now I was wondering,

If I am going to install the multitude number of mods, campaigns, missions, skins, etc etc...would I be better of installing each SF series individually.

If I have a combined install, and want to have a certain skin for only the European game, but not in the Vietnam game, or if I want a particular terrain and sky texture in the Israel game but not in the North Atlantic game, wouldn't it be easier to keep each series individual and not combined as one?

Also, for adding skins, mods, etc,  wasn't there a utility tool to use to extract various files...or am I getting things mixed up.

Ok, there are far more knowledgeable people and KBs on the subject...But, from my experience, I recommend a merged install. As you go along, you will notice that alot of the "Must Have" mods requires that you have a merged install. All a merged install means is that the game exe\elements are installed into one Central "C:\Thirdwire" folder. When you run a SF2 Europe from there, it will create user SF2 Europe folders in C:\USER\blah blah blah....which is referred to as the User Mod Folders. You will put your mods in there and almost NEVER in your Central stock "C:\Thirdwire" game folders...if you screw up your user\mod folder - you can delete it and when you rerun the game, it will create a new user\mod folder....there is a different user mod folder for each game...SF2, SF2I, SF2V, SF2E...etc...get it? You can even copy SF2 Europe to some other name like NATO Fighters 5.exe and run it and it will create a user mod folder named NATO Fighters 5 for you to mod...

There are...you can get them here - http://combatace.com/files/file/15942-mues-toolbox/
