F-111 intake plates

Hi guys, im asking right out of curiosity, i have seen pics of different F-111 versions and some had those plates and some don't. 

There even seems to be difference in the F-111A Version itself. On one pic there is one and on the other one isn't. 

IT is a plate right under the intake cone and infront of the intake itself 

Can't provide a pic now, hope you know what i mean

I have found my old F-111 parts and upgraded it in a test with a new canopy
