Radar Altitude Max Value in HUD text

This is a very common entry for Radar Altitude text in avionics.ini, for many aircraft, stock or mods:

I have just noticed that MaxValue seems inoperative: above 1500 ft, no change, the text is still displayed the same, as altitude above ground. I tested on many aircraft. Despite this line seems useless, it is always used.

Do you know what is the function of this line ?

Do you agree that this statement "MaxValue=XXX" in the "SymbolType=RADAR_ALT_TEXT" does not work or I miss something ?

If I good remember it is like that since day 1. Probably originally there was some intention to include this function as working, but either was overlooked, or realized that actual AC Hud always show the real radar altitude constantly.
So don't lose your sleep over it.

Thank you for your confirmation. Actually, a real radio-altimeter has a limited range, so I hoped to use this

In the cockpit.ini if it is set with a dial then yes, can be made to "work" correctly - to stop at a certain altitude (position), but if it is a counter (digital or analog) then it will always show the actual value in this game. Something we have to live with.
