savagkc Posted February 1, 2003 Posted February 1, 2003 Anyone have a set of sounds for this aircraft or know where they can be located? thanks, savagkc Quote
savagkc Posted February 1, 2003 Author Posted February 1, 2003 found the sounds, made sure they were installed but still no engine sound. (x-posted to sim-hq). savagkc Quote
LordOliver Posted February 2, 2003 Posted February 2, 2003 found the sounds, made sure they were installed but still no engine sound. (x-posted to sim-hq). savagkc Make sure you have a correct soundlist.ini The beginning of the file should have this: ...SoundFile024=A4Engine SoundFile025=F104Engine SoundFile026=AAA SoundFile027=BigExplosion SoundFile028=A1Engine... The end of the file should have this: [A1Engine] Priority=NORMAL 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=TRUE Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=2 FrequencyControl=TRUE MaxDist=500.000000 MinDist=50.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 ConeOutsideVolume=0 I upped the maxdistance to 500 from 250... it makes fly-bys sound better as the sound does not cut in and out. This file is found in the ..flights folder and if you do not have it, check the A-1H installation .zip file to see if it is there and copy it to the folder. Failing that, use the .cat extract utility, and extract the file from the FlightData.cat file and make the changes I noted above. You'll have sound then. -LO Quote
savagkc Posted February 2, 2003 Author Posted February 2, 2003 strange, mine shows this: SoundFile024=A4Engine SoundFile025=F104Engine SoundFile026=AAA SoundFile027=A1Engine [A1Engine] Priority=NORMAL 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=TRUE Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=2 FrequencyControl=TRUE MaxDist=250.000000 MinDist=50.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 ConeOutsideVolume=0 Where did you get the "big explosion" from ? i can extract from FlightData.cat file which file am i looking for? thanks for the comeback, savagkc thanks for the feedback Quote
savagkc Posted February 2, 2003 Author Posted February 2, 2003 Well, i did a copy/past of what you showed to a newly extracted sound.ini file. And its still a nogo. Dont understand this, all other sounds are there on all other planes. Just the A-1H is messing up! I'm sure its something i'm doing. Will have to just play with it some more i guess.... thanks for trying tho, savagkc Quote
LordOliver Posted February 2, 2003 Posted February 2, 2003 It just dawned on me that if you are using the soundlist.ini that came along with the A-1H package, that was developed pre-patch... the one I showed you was from the patched version so that is where the differences lie. I extracted my post-patch file and manually edited it. If you want to extract the file it is in the ..flight folder and the cat file is FlightData.cat. The file to extract is soundlist.ini The a1engine.wav should be in the ..sounds folder. Outside of that I dunno what the problem could be :?: :?: :?: Quote
savagkc Posted February 2, 2003 Author Posted February 2, 2003 Thanks, but i used the one from after the patch. This is not the only problem i'm having with the game but its still flyable. Looking for some more fixes from patch @2. Might have to wait and see. savagkc Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted February 2, 2003 Posted February 2, 2003 Ill send you a sound file but till then try setting sound card to two speckers, Ill send ya a file tonight Quote
savagkc Posted February 2, 2003 Author Posted February 2, 2003 Ranger 332, thanks for the file, i'll be looking for it. The A1Engine that came with the DL was 8 bit, i'm not sure if thats the problem or not. Seems like all the others that i looked at was 16 bit. I have the xgamer 5.1 SB card (digital) but it seems to play analog just fine. As a test, i subbed the F104Engine for the A1Engine wav and the jet worked fine - sounds funny tho - LOL savagkc Quote
Tman Posted February 2, 2003 Posted February 2, 2003 Found my old post on my Skyraider sound probs. Replys said the fix was in the cockpit.ini update which I installed and which fixed my problem. Not happy with the Skyraider sound, tho. It's got a bad loop and doesn't run like a smooth engine sound. Quote
savagkc Posted February 3, 2003 Author Posted February 3, 2003 Do you remember what the fix was, by any chance?? thanks, savagkc Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted February 3, 2003 Posted February 3, 2003 OK E-MAILED THEm AS i COULDENT GET THEM TO LOAD UP HERE ENJOY. Quote
savagkc Posted February 3, 2003 Author Posted February 3, 2003 Ranger332, Thanks for the sound file, i got it. Unfortunately, that wasn't it. I don't know what it is, but its not the sound file (i played it in windows media player and its fine. Darnest thing, i can place the F104Engine in the data.ini and it works fine. Well, maybe the next update will fix things. (i understand there is a sound problem still outstanding). But, hey, Thanks again for the help, its appreciated, savagkc Quote
