Erik's post in Topic Pin Request was marked as the answer
The OFF moderators will pin topics they find of significant value to the community (read: most important). That's not something I would handle it's above my pay grade.

Erik's post in Touchbuddy site? was marked as the answer
The old site was designed on an outdated platform which needs to be updated at a considerable cost, roughly $500. Because of the outdated code it is a security risk to our equipment and I elected to revamp it when the money is available to do so. The data is still intact so it is there but I can't answer your question about the profile you are after. Contact Snacko here at CA and maybe he has what you're after if not have him PM me and I can grab it off the old site and we can get it to you that way.

Erik's post in Log In problem was marked as the answer
The only way you'd get that message from our system is if you're trying to log into an account that has been banned usually for duplicate accounts.
Do you have a second log in like use the Facebook or Twitter login or another account? If so that's the problem because if you can log in with a valid account and post messages as you've done there's nothing wrong with your account from our perspective.
Let me know.
Thanks.

Erik's post in A favor with the downloads.. was marked as the answer
First of all, Welcome!
We'd love to embrace the idea of an "internet is free" philosophy but in the real world that doesn't exist. Our costs to provide this site, community support sites, storage, and transfer use exceed our income on a monthly basis. Our philanthropy and goodwill (read: my wallet being lightened) to the community has limits and to be blunt none of this would exist if it weren't for the support we receive from subscription members. Just like PBS we need support from advertisers and members to continue providing our programming. The internet, developed on an Utopian idea, has always been pay to play. You pay for access to it and we pay to house and transfer the content we provide. It's the same anywhere you go so our idea to offer an incentive for subscriptions was birthed and we hope that you'll do your part to help.
I can insert all the boring facts about terabytes and gigabytes, co-location of our devices, access fees to the pipeline, and the list goes on but you get the idea. DLC is never "free" there are always costs. How those costs are paid for is another conversation all together. Think about this, people will buy a $70 game and think nothing of dropping $15 for a new map (usually not just one), $20 for new weapons (also not just one), $10 for armor (multiple) and so on. You get the idea business are out to make money. You can draw your comparisons any way you like but you asked why and our why is very different from most. It's not that I'll take money from my wallet to pay for things every month it's always been how much. I can't tell you how many times I've been asked this, I really should have a canned statement to provide you but I hope I answered your question.
I hope you take the time to learn why we're worth more than $5.00 for content but if you don't we still provide free limited access which is more than most and better than some. Subscriptions are a way for you to help us provide you the content and resources available here.
Same question just a different spin but ... The size of the files are split up because it makes them easier to be uploaded it has nothing to do with the downloading. The underlying feeling I get is we're being accused of trying to rip you off and some how extort money from you by purposely dividing the files into pieces costing you more FREE daily downloads. It's post scripts like this one that make me say screw philanthropy and all our content is pay for access, maybe that seems more "worth it"? I guess you should have stopped at the first statement but in closing.
No ... Thank you!

Erik's post in Sorry, we can't find that! was marked as the answer
Direct links don't work on our site. If you're following a link you've saved or has been provided for you that points directly to the download file you will receive that message. All downloads are randomly generated at the time of download from the actual file page to prevent hot linking. This has been the "norm" for at least five maybe six years now. We have no files that are missing or broken at the time of our last catalog audit which was about 10 hours ago as that task runs daily. I do see your errors in our logs and my advice is to verify where you are getting your links from.
Thanks.

Erik's post in How do I get rid of this white background in my Signature? was marked as the answer
Yes the background is set by us depending on the skin you're using. If you don't want an image with a background you'll have to make one with a transparent background then it will look right on all colored backgrounds.

Erik's post in Fist of the fleet not working on my computer was marked as the answer
While we host the site we don't maintain it. In fact most of the files are here anyway. As to why it's not working, the site uses java script which is either outdated or not allowed to run on your computer. The changes in supporting and running java in many browsers has changed dramatically lately. For more support on that you'd have to read the support topics for supporting java on your particular browser and machine.

Erik's post in Mobil version / Message lock was marked as the answer
Our mobile platform sucks. I can't even paint a pretty picture of sunbathing girls on the white sands of Hawaii about it. The new release of our board software is in private beta now. I imagine at least a few months will be needed for the public release and point release upgrades until I'll feel comfortable upgrading. At that point all the old nonsense will be gone and we'll have a true mobile and pad platform. In all seriousness it's been a sore point in my side for a long while. I'll keep everyone updated as the time draws near.

As the work around in the lower left hand corner of the pages you can select the skin you want to use even on mobile or pad devices. That will at least get you full operation of things even though it's a heavy bandwidth hog, wifi is no big deal tho.

Erik's post in "View new content" does not work anymore was marked as the answer
This is working as intended.
In order for the "New Content" feature to work you have to follow forums, topics, gallery users, images, downloads, etc. Usually this happens automatically when you post something in a forum but for some reason the notifications on your account were set so that you didn't follow anything. Maybe you were trying to eliminate email or whatever but I've re-ticked that box to auto follow topics you reply in and tested the feature and it's working like it should. You can manage what notifications you receive and how you receive them by editing this page.
My Notifications
If you want to follow a topic or download or whatever look toward the top of the page it will say "Follow This Topic" if you aren't following and "Unfollow This Topic" if you already are. Now that your auto follow is turned on if you reply you automatically will get the updates and see them in the New Content area.
Hope that helps.

I got on it as soon as the server notified me. Apache crashed which corrupted a sessions table in the db. More than likely a packet flood to Apache or DDOS. Joys of online life.

Everything is complete and all our services restored. The move was a success and the new data center is already strutting it's stuff. That new robust connectivity is impressive.

Erik's post in Just A Dumb Question was marked as the answer
It's a site cookie, nothing to be alarmed at. Once you log in it keeps you logged in until you log out or the cookie expires. We do this because some people may have a slow internet connection and some files can take hours or half a day for them. If the site logged you out it would cause problems. I also think the remember me tick mark on log in only remembers your log in name, the browser itself would remember the password depending on your browser settings.

Just paste that URL you provided in the signature area when you're editing your profile. I've never used the share links for something like this, share links are for sharing content off site.

The latest update of IE11 broke our editor. I installed a patch that will make it compatible. Should be fixed.
