  1. The HarpoonHQ hosts the greatest collection of quality scenarios on the Internet: http://www.harpoonhq.com/ Colonial Wars (1950-1964) scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/colonialwars/ 1965-1979 scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios_1960-79/ 1980-2005++ scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios/ Recent releases include: Colonial Wars scenarios Dangerous Waters, by Paul Bridge This morning, off the coast of Cuba, a Soviet submarine fired a nuclear torpedo at the USS Ranger. The resulting explosion destroyed the carrier and damaged the escort group. The carrier group was enforcing the blockade around Cuba due to the Soviet missile sites there. At present, no further nuclear exchanges have taken place. The United States has retaliated by conducting conventional strikes on military targets only with the Soviets responding in kind. With most of the action taking place in the North Atlantic and Europe...the Pacific rim seems quite for the present. Soviet forces have surged there Pacific Fleet submarines in order to keep the US carrier groups from striking the Motherland. The United States has positioned its ASW Carrier Groups to defend the Hawaiian Islands and the Pacific. Only one strike carrier is available, the Enterprise, to take the war to the Soviets in the Pacific....Good Shooting Guys. Operation Dawarka, by Paul Bridge Operation Dawarka is one of the most significant events of the 1965 Indo-Pakistan War. The idea of the attack by Pakistan was to destroy the Radar site at Dawarka and Naval Installations. which would draw out the heavy Indian units based in Bombay. To this end, the only Pakistani submarine Ghazi, a converted US WW2 Guppy, was stationed outside Bombay harbour to intercept them. The bombardment of Dawarka was successful, but Ghazi was unable to engage units leaving Bombay. Franco's Folly, by Paul Bridge In 1963, the question of Gibraltar's status came before the UN Special Committee on De-Colonisation and General Franco of Spain seized the opportunity to revive her claim for the reversion of the Rock to Spanish sovereignity. Spain increased her border restrictions with Gibraltar and eventually closed the frontier and all other means of communications with the mainland in 1969. In the meantime, Spain decided to enforce the blockade and sailed the majority of her fleet to re-take Gibraltar by force by land and sea. The United Kingdom was caught by surprise with this and despatched HMS Eagle and Bulwark from Malta at maximum speed hoping to call Spain's bluff? Return to Suez, by Paul Bridge All did not go well for Israel in the 6 Day War with her neighbours and she suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the Arabs. Egypt has now re-taken her lost lands and has closed the Suez Canal to all traffic. At a press conference in Cairo Egypt threatened to use deadly force on any country trying to re-open the canal. The US has decided not to pursue this matter. With growing hate against the Vietnam War at home, all US forces have been pulled out of area. The United Kingdom and France have decided to re-take the Suez Canal by military means and have deployed a combined force of 3 Attack Carriers and 2 Amphib Groups with air and submarine support to the Region. The UK and France did the same operation 10 years earlier...but this time Egypt is now equipped with Soviet ships, submarines, aircraft and long-range air-launched anti-ship weapons. Bedford Incident, by Paul Bridge A US Destroyer Captain chances upon a Soviet submarine operating inside the territorial waters of Greenland and intends to force the sub to the surface by any means possible. Both vessels are armed with nuclear weapons... and the question is who will fire first! The USS Bedford is commanded by Captain Finlander who was passed over for promotion last year due to an incident with one of our submarines. He is a very aggressive Captain who will and has broken the rules and will do anything This Scenario is based on the movie "The Bedford Incident was added units to both sides including the Canadian ASW Carrier and Escort Group. Colonial Wars Indonesian Campaign Gunboat Diplomacy, by Paul Bridge At one stage in the Borneo Confrontation, there was a force of some sixteen ships operating in and around the waters of Borneo, most of them coming from the 6th Minesweeping Squadron, whose tasks were to hunt, stop, and search small boat traffic . One incident, out of the normal humdrum patrolling , occurred in 1965 when three minesweepers intercepted and caught three armed sampans. All of them had been trying to get into southeast Johore and, during the fire fight, eight Indonesian soldiers were killed and 19 captured . This scen covers the engagement with added units for both sides . First Strike, by Paul Bridge Following an failed attempted coup in Indonesia by anti-communist forces , the communist government put all blame onto the United Kingdom. Over the years, communist forces had infiltrated into Malaysia and Borneo; conducting terrorist attacks on the infastructure of these countries. The UK and Australian and New Zealand forces had been hard pushed to stop these incursions, but had played no part in the failed coup. Indonesia has threatened to attack any British-flagged ships in its area, but at the present time hostilities haven't broken out. The RMS Queen Mary, enroute from Hong Kong to Singapore, is a prime target and has been give escort to Singapore ! The Empire Strikes Back, by Paul Bridge After the outrageous attack on the RMS Queen Mary and her escorts in the South China Sea resulted in heavy loss of life on all the Ships involved in the engagement , UK and ANZAC Forces are now planning a response .... the problem is most of the UK Far East Fleet were deployed for the Annual Exercise with Australian and New Zealand Forces off North Western coast of Australia. Singapore's remaining forces have taken a "battering" over the last few days and are unable to mount a response . During the Annual Exercise the RAF had deployed most of their bomber assets to RAAF airbases on the western coast. These forces include Vulcan, Canberra bombers, and Recon aircraft. They are supported by Australian Canberras, Sabres, and Mirage fighter bomber aircraft. The Naval Forces in the area are HMS Ark Royal and HMAS Melbourne Task Groups. In all it looks like the Indonesian Forces are in for a surprise of there own!. Broadsides, by Paul Bridge At present, HMS Bulwark and her cover group (comprised of the WW2 Cruiser HMS Belfast) have sailed from Aden and have now entered the Andaman sea enroute to Singapore. Bulwark has embarked 45 Cdo Royal Marines and a full complement of Wessex helicopters for future operations and is a prime target. She is due to anchor near RAAF Butterworth to take on supplies and must be protected at all costs. The position of the KRI Irian is unknown, but believed to be in the area. The air threat is light and the submarine threat is assessed as medium. Can HMS Belfast protect the Bulwark .....the choice is yours ! __________________________________________________ The Harpoon HeadQuarters : By the Players, For the Players
  2. Paul and Scott have released two new scenarios for Harpoon3. You can get them here: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios/ Thursday War This is the 4th and last scenario in Paul's FOST Operational Sea Training battleset and covers all warfare training covered in the previous 3 days including Air, Surface and Sub-Surface threats. The objective is to transit from Plymouth to Portland Bill in 8 hours at high speed and conduct an amphibious assault on Portland Bill. Kerguelen Station Taiwan has created a secret base in the Kerguelen Islands to manufacture nuclear weapons. A Chinese Kilo submarine will attempt to locate and neutralize the Taiwanese facility using combat swimmers. The HarpoonHQ has four Harpoon3 scenario / database sections covering the 1939-2015 timeframe: World War II scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios_wwii/ 1950-1964 scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/colonialwars/ 1965-1979 scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios_1960-79/ 1980-2015 scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios/ __________________________________________________ The Harpoon HeadQuarters : By the Players, For the Players
  3. The 30th scenario in the 'World War Three in 1985' battleset, Negotiating Chips, can be downloaded on the HarpoonHQ: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenario...-ww3in1985.html Negotiating Chips For all intents and purposes, the battle for the North Atlantic is over. The Red Banner Northern Fleet has been chased out of the Norwegian Sea and, except for its surviving SSBNs, has ceased to exist as a fighting force. A large NATO amphibious operation expelled the Red Army from Norway, denying the Soviets access to the strategically important air and naval bases on Norway's western coast. In turn, the aircraft carriers of the US Navy's Second Strike Fleet, supported by massive B-52 raids, inflicted serious damage to the Soviet base complexes on the Kola Peninsula. Key installations, such as Severomorsk and Polyarnyy, have been replaced by a large black smear in the arctic landscape. As a consequence, the Soviets are no longer able to conduct offensive operations on the northern front. Having made great sacrifices, the Soviets will do all they can to secure a political victory, if even a small one. But their wish to terminate hostilities, coupled with their lack of success on the battlefield, translates to a weak position at the negotiating table. NATO will not accept any cease-fire proposal except a return to the territorial status quo ante bellum, and will want even more if military success can make it possible at reasonable cost. The US and the UK especially seek dissolution of the Warsaw Pact and free elections. To convince the Soviets that they have lost the war and cannot compete with NATO technologically, the United States has decided to put its newest and most sophisticated weapon system to use. Two US Navy attack submarines of the Los Angeles class have been armed with the brand new conventional Tomahawk land-attack missile (TLAM). With the introduction of this weapon, every submarine in the fleet will soon be able to hold key Soviet military and industrial targets at risk. The bases on the Kola Peninsula have been hit hard, but the military and industrial complexes in and around Arkangelsk remain undamaged. Important facilities include the air base at Lakhta, which is one of three naval bomber bases in the Leningrad military district, and the Sevmash shipyard at Severodvinsk. Sevmash is one of the world's largest shipyards and serves as the principal Soviet shipyard for the Northern Fleet. At least five nuclear-powered submarines are currently under construction here, including two Delta IV SSBNs, one or possibly two Akula SSNs, one or two Oscar II SSGNs, and a Typhoon SSBN. 4. The next batch of scenarios in the 'World War Three' battleset is now available for download: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenario...-ww3in1985.html The World War Three battleset, created with the Harpoon3 naval / aerial warfare simulator, takes a look at what might have happened had the Cold War gone hot in September 1985. Triggered by the renewed friction of the 1980s, coupled with the increasing decay of the Soviet system and their economic and industrial setbacks, the two superblocs collide at the peak of their Cold War strength. The battleset focuses on technical detail and a solid historical background, and is intended to give an accurate account of the war that never happened. Scenario #1: Enter the Lion's Den With the hard fought campaign for Norway coming to an end, NATO commanders have decided to conduct the first series of carrier air strikes against the Kola Peninsula. The Strike Fleet's two carrier battle groups will move north to the entrance of the Barents Sea using a variety of concealment and deception measures to avoid detection by Soviet reconnaissance assets. Scenario #2: Assault on the Kola Peninsula The war has come a full circle. The Strike Fleet's two carrier battle groups have moved to within striking distance of the Soviet bases on the Kola Peninsula. For the first time, NATO air power will be used to prosecute an extended campaign against the Soviet Union itself. This high-risk venture will expose the Strike Fleet to enormous danger but if successful the military and industrial infrastructure in the region could be crippled for months. Go directly to the download section here: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios/ There are currently four Harpoon3 scenario/database sections, covering the 1939-2015 timeframe, available on the HarpoonHQ: World War II scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios_wwii/ 1950-1964 scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/colonialwars/ 1965-1979 scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios_1960-79/ 1980-2015 scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios/ __________________________________________________ The Harpoon HeadQuarters: By the Players, For the Players http://www.harpoonhq.com
  5. The 29th scenario in the 'World War Three' battleset, the nuclear version of 'Return to the Kola Peninsula', is now available for download: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenario...-ww3in1985.html Return to the Kola Peninsula - Nuclear Version This scenario is an "off line" excursion into the topic of nuclear warfare. The scenario is not part of the original battleset, which covers a protracted conventional war, and is meant to explore the possibility of a nuclear exchange. There has been a considerable amount of war termination negotiations in the last few days. But a settlement to the war seems virtually impossible to attain. It is unthinkable for the Soviets to give up what they have fought so hard for, and they insist on a cease-fire that recognizes their territorial gains. NATO, on the other hand, is unwilling to recognize any Soviet gains and calls for a return to status quo ante bellum. The Soviets are strongly seeking a decisive military and political result before the industrial might of the West can be mobilized. However, having failed to destroy NATO in a short war, the Soviets are unlikely to regain a conventional military advantage. Facing total defeat in the Central European theater, the Soviets would eventually be forced to choose between surrender and escalation. To retrieve the losing situation, a decision was made to launch a limited nuclear and chemical attack on NATO front-line units. 44 missile-delivered 5-20kT nuclear warheads and a dozen persistent chemical agent warheads were employed against NATO troops in the most hard-pressed areas. The NATO response was swift. 49 warheads were detonated over Soviet frontline units, four army garrisons, five air bases and two rail yards. NATO announced this as a one-time strike in retaliation for the Soviet attack. The Soviets struck back with a volley of missiles targeting eight NATO air bases, three ports of disembarkation in the Netherlands and France, as well as key command, control and communication facilities (C3) and several storages for nuclear weapons. NATO responded by employing nuclear warheads against another ten Soviet air bases in Germany, Poland and Czechoslovakia, four major naval bases in East Germany and around Kaliningrad, several nuclear weapon storage sites, C3 nodes, and logistical centers. The situation was now fast spiraling out of control, and the war was rapidly escalating to a central system exchange. In order to shock the Soviets into realizing the seriousness of NATO's resolve, it was decided to launch a nuclear attack on the Kola Peninsula, the Soviet Union's most concentrated naval base complex. It is hoped that this operation, combined with a threat of SIOP release, can force the Soviets to return to the negotiating table with a different attitude. The objective of Limited Attack Option Two (LAO-2) is to destroy the Soviet military/nuclear capabilities on the Kola Peninsula. This counterforce attack will cover the six target categories that currently make up the infrastructure of the Soviet forces in the region. The categories are airfields, naval bases, army bases, nuclear warhead storage sites, C3 facilities, and civilian/military infrastructure. 6. Paul has released the second and third scenario in his Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST) battleset. You can get it here: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios/ FOST #2: Vampire Vampire Vampire! This scenario covers an FBA and Anti-Ship Missile Defense (ASMD) exersise off the south coast of Britain. The objective is to transit from Plymouth to Portland Bill in 6 hours. This is at high speed giving protection to the RFA and MCM's attached to your group. This is a good exercise in protecting the HVU's and yourselves close to land. FOST #3: Hide and Seek This scenario covers a long-range missile encounter off the south coast. The objective is to train units detached in 2 Surface Action Groups (SAGs) to engage enemy forces at range using SSMs. Normally a Nimrod and a strike element is attached to the exercise but these are under control of Fost HQ and not the Task Groups control. The HarpoonHQ hosts four scenario/database sections covering the 1939-2015 timeframe: World War II scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios_wwii/ 1950-1964 scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/colonialwars/ 1965-1979 scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios_1960-79/ 1980-2015 scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios/ __________________________________________________ The Harpoon HeadQuarters: By the Players, For the Players http://www.harpoonhq.com
  7. Quinton?s latest Harpoon3 scenario, The Cyprus Question, is now available for download on the HarpoonHQ: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios_1960-79/ The Cyprus Question The year is 1966 and the island of Cyprus has found itself at the center of a tug of war for almost a century. The Greek desire for Enios (The unification of all lands associated with Ancient Greece) as well as the convenient location of the island for two British bases has prevented Turkey from governing the island which it controlled until World War I. This great source of tension became too great for the Turkish government which executed a successful invasion and reclaimed control of the island. This act of aggression has angered the Greek and British governments who have decided on a joint operation to retake the island and restore order to the region. The Ark Royal battle group has now joined up with elements of the Greek navy and are now headed east towards Cyprus. __________________________________________________ The Harpoon HeadQuarters: By the Players, For the Players http://www.harpoonhq.com
  8. Steve has released his Baltic Bottleneck scenario for Harpoon3. You can get it here: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios/ Baltic Bottleneck It is 1988 and Mayhem has broken out on the Central Front. This is inevitably a large scenario set primarily within the confinements of the Baltic. NATO forces drawn mostly from Denmark and West Germany stand in the way of considerable forces from Poland, East Germany and the Baltic Fleet. The situation in the Baltic is difficult, with notoriously poor sonar conditions and the close proximity of opposition forces. Both Sweden and Finland are maintaining a policy of strict neutrality. Most front line aviation units are unavailable to you being tasked with operations on the Central front itself. __________________________________________________ The Harpoon HeadQuarters : By the Players, For the Players
  9. The next scenario in the 'World War Three' battleset, Return to the Kola Peninsula, is now available for download: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenario...-ww3in1985.html Scenario #3: Return to the Kola Peninsula The first NATO offensive against Kola was a resounding success. The Soviet air assets and command and control structure has been dealt a major blow. Key bases have been damaged or temporarily put out of operation altogether, storages and depots have been hit, and logistical links have been severed. The Northern Fleet, what was left of it, failed to deal with the US Navy Strike Fleet and was unable to even weaken the screening forces. The few remaining Soviet Naval Aviation reconnaissance assets could not penetrate the well-prepared defensive ring around the battle groups, and no bomber raids ever materialized. NATO commanders are determined to complete the victory up north. Amphibious operations against the Kola Peninsula have been considered but the plans were quickly shelved when the Soviets deployed Atomic Defensive Mines (ADMs) on the Kola coast along with a promise to detonate them should Royal and US Marines land. Instead, NATO commanders have decided to neutralize the military and industrial complexes through massive air strikes rather than capturing them. The scale of the air strikes will be increased to also include B-52s flying over the north pole in order to decisively destroy the military, logistical and industrial infrastructure in the region. It is hoped air strikes against the Kola may help compel the Soviets to end the war on less favorable terms. Massive use of B-52 bombers is likely to yield decisive results quickly and may accelerate the war termination negotiations. However this endeavor is not without risk. There is a fair chance large bomber raids against the Soviet homeland may drive them to some form of nuclear escalation. 10. Paul Bridge has released the first of several planned Basic Operational Sea Training (BOST) scenarios for the Harpoon3 naval/air simulator. This first scenario is named Cobra Loose! You can get it here: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios/ Cobra Loose! Week 6 of Basic Operational Sea Training is one of the most intensive weeks being the final week of sea training. Ships under training from various nations go through Replenishment at Sea, fire fighting, damage control, Salvage and other end of the world scenarios. This Scenario covers an advanced Casex (ASW Exercise) in the SWAPPS (South Western Approaches). Each week a threat orbat is created using other units simulating the threat. No country is simulated in the exercises and is by called different names but it?s pretty easy to guess what country your fighting against by the threat orbat. __________________________________________________ The Harpoon HeadQuarters : By the Players, For the Players

  12. Mike has released his Georgia Knights World War II scenario for Harpoon3. You can get it here: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios_wwii/ Georgia Knights In the summer of 1943 fighting in the Solomons rage on with US forces pushing into the New Georgia area of operations. The United States has learned much since the bloody campaign at Guadalcanal and forces stand ready to stem the flow of supplies via the midnights run of the Tokyo Express. MTB Ron 10 has been forward deployed and stands ready for action against the IJN. Can these mighty midgets make the difference! This is a one player ASuW scenario with a duration of 12 hours. The MTB group starts grouped to make the easier to manage when traveling but should be ungrouped and micro managed during an attack for the best effect. This scenario offers many points of decision and targets. The trick is finding the best one:) There are currently four Harpoon3 databases, covering the 1939-2015 timeframe, available on the HarpoonHQ: World War II scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios_wwii/ 1950-1964 scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/colonialwars/ 1965-1979 scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios_1960-79/ 1980-2015 scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios/ __________________________________________________ The Harpoon HeadQuarters: By the Players, For the Players http://www.harpoonhq.com
  13. Paul has released his 'Indian Expansion' Harpoon3 scenario. You can get it here: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/colonialwars/ Indian Expansion The year is 1964. Following the re-taking of Goa from Portugal 3 years earlier, India decided to stake her claims on the Maldive Islands. Following protests at the UN against the United Kingdom who have established a RAF station at Gan, India have warned the UK to get out of RAF Gan or suffer... With this threat the UK have reinforced RAF Gan with Hunters and Shackletons from Singapore and a detachment of Lightning from Aden which had to conduct AAR from a Victor tanker to reach there. Troops also from Singapore have been flown in along with a Tigercat SAM battery. HMS Eagle and her battle group have steamed from Malaysia after a port visit and are en-route. India has deployed the Carrier Vikrant and most of her fleet to this operation along with numerous air assets from the North of the country. Hostilities have not yet broken out and peace talks are still taking place in the darkest corners of the British Government with Indian diplomats but time is running out! __________________________________________________ The Harpoon HeadQuarters : By the Players, For the Players

  15. Scott has released his ?Syrian Weapons of Mass Destruction? Harpoon3 scenario. You can get it here: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios/ Syrian Weapons of Mass Destruction Syria is known to have Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). These weapons are Chemical, Biological and Nuclear (NBC). Syria does not have nuclear weapons yet, but is on the verge of aquiring them through the reactor facilities at Homs. As part of the Axis of Evil, this is the first of a triad of of scenarios designed to keep America safe in its "War against Terror". ORDERS FOR CMDR US FORCES: Based on latest intelligence from the CIA, Syria has embarked on a serious escalation in WMD production. The following are known sites for WMD: CHEMICAL/BIO WEAPONS: - Tadmur CW Facilities - Aleppo CW Facilities - Homs CW Facilities - Latakia CW Facilities NUCLEAR WEAPONS OR REACTORS - Homs Nuclear Plant DELIVERY SYSTEMS: - Al Safir Scud Base - Hamah Scud Base - Hamah Scud Manufacturing Your orders are to cause as much damage to these installations as possible. Specifically, you are to destroy 180 facilities in 48 Hours in order to substantially damage the capability of Syria to produce chemical, biological or nuclear weapons. You must also destroy the methods of delivery. The Syrians have approximately 500 aircraft available, however it is likely that many of them are unserviceable. It is recommended to attack Syrian air bases to reduce the threat to your strike aircraft. The SAM presence is expected to be heavy. Syria is also known to have at least three aging Soviet ROMEO-class submarines, one of which may have been repaired, so the threat of submarine attack is real. The carriers must remain on station for two (2) days. You must prevent the Syrians from achieving even minor damage to your task force. There are currently four Harpoon3 databases, covering the 1939-2015 timeframe, available on the HarpoonHQ: World War II scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios_wwii/ 1950-1964 scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/colonialwars/ 1965-1979 scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios_1960-79/ 1980-2015 scenarios: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios/ __________________________________________________ The Harpoon HeadQuarters : By the Players, For the Players

  17. Ok guys, here is the latest scenario for Harpoon3, enjoy! http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios_1960-79/ Breaking the Shackles Ever since gaining independence from Britain in 1948, Sri Lanka has struggled to maintain its individuality in the shadow of its giant northern neighbour India. At best, India has ?non friendly? relations with every one of its northern neighbours and in any conflict these nations are likely to support India?s enemy. It is therefore not in India?s best interests to have its only southern neighbour as an enemy as well. Since independence, India has taken it upon itself to impose its views on Sri Lanka and cultivate it as a bidding client state. Sri Lankan leaders have however had their own plans and have steered clear of this position as far as possible. While officially non-aligned, India has leaned increasingly towards the Soviet Union over the past decade. Sri Lanka on the other hand has favoured a more Western stance ? especially towards the United States and just recently, Sri Lanka supported Pakistan in the Indo Pakistan war of 1971. The support of India?s enemy during that war caused a major rift in already strained relations between the two nations. In 1972, Sri Lankan leaders struck a deal with the USN to use the port of Trincomalee as a liberty port during Indian Ocean operations. During the same period, new trade agreements were entered into and a completely new independence began to emerge for Sri Lanka with a major reliance on India becoming a thing of the past. The prime minister of India, Indira Ghandi, is not someone who likes to lose control and this is precisely what appeared to be happening with Sri Lanka. It seemed her client state was beginning a new future ? one that did not include India and that would not do. Three weeks after top-secret orders were handed to Indian Special Forces; a large portion of the Sri Lankan government ? including the prime minister was wiped out by a massive bomb blast in the parliament building. The Indian response to this disaster was exceptionally swift: Indira Ghandi declared the nation of Sri Lanka a disaster area and pledged her nation?s unwavering support for the Sri Lankan people in their time of need. This support came in the form of shiploads of Indian troops to protect the innocent civilians of Sri Lanka from the ?rebel forces? responsible for the attack on their government. A caretaker government was installed and martial law declared ? this government had a decidedly less pro-West outlook and was far more India friendly. The international response was at first complete shock at the audacity of this move by India. Despite the lack of overt evidence, it was clear according to the CIA and MI5 what had transpired and the general feeling was that this action could not be allowed to go unchecked. In reply, the US Navy has despatched the Enterprise CVBG from station off Vietnam as well as a large Amphibious Ready Group that left Diego Garcia two days ago. India is still standing firm and has increased their air and naval presence in the area. __________________________________________________ The Harpoon HeadQuarters : By the Players, For the Players

  20. Guys we have a new Harpoon3 scenario for you today, get it here: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/colonialwars/ Stabbed in the Back! DTG 011200Z APR 64 Location South Atlantic Duration 2.5 Days Sides United Kingdom - Argentina Last Week Argentine forces conducted a sneak attack on the British Falkland Islands, the garrison based there was quickly overcome with heavy loss of life to the defending Platoon of Royal Marines. The British response was one of desperation, on paper she had 5 Attack Carriers and 2 Amphib Carriers. The problem was one Amphib and Attack Carrier were in Singapore, one in refit, one in Hamburg on completion of a NATO Exercise and one in the Mediterranean to cover British interests the Egypt and Israeli firefight. This just left HMS Eagle CVA and HMS Bulwark CVH with a mix of New Zealand and UK Escorts on a visit to Cape Town after a joint exercise. Argentina knew all this and gambled the UK would not deploy to the South Atlantic with these meager assets... they were wrong and within 24hrs the Task Group had sailed at maximum speed to reach the Falklands. 24. Guys we have two new Harpoon3 scenarios for you today: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios/ Operation Detoxicate, by Klaus The USA obtained proof that Iran is using the Bushire reactor for the production of a nuclear bomb. The second Iranian production facility has yet to be identified. NCA decided to use a surgical strike, however, stealth attack aircraft could not be made available in the time window open for a possible surprise strike. Darkest Peru, by Steve The 1995 conflict in the Cenepa Valley while a victory for Ecuador did not resolve the border dispute. Both sides settled down to patrolling the area surrounding the Cenepa / Santiago / Yaupi confluence. Bases now became long established, most having been the centre of fierce fighting. The area in question is a surprisingly small zone dominated from the high ground of the Cordillera del Condor. From positions on these heights Ecuador was effectively able to dominate over positions lower in the Valley occupied by Peruvian Troops. By 2005 incursions by either side across the disputed border looked set to finally resolve things once and for all. __________________________________________________ The Harpoon HeadQuarters : By the Players, For the Players
