  1. BH2 your mods list

Here's my list. I've manually renumbered several of @VonS FMs so the identical plane types are next to each other. Make it easier for me to "load only one".
  2. play thru

I think it just does the review where you don't have to click each time something significant happens. I don't know of anyway to try the mission again.
  3. MODS release

I can see them ok at https://thatoneplease.co/skinsWOFF.html they all have the yellow "UPDATE!" on them. If you don't see it, refresh the page (perhaps it's a browser cache issue).
  4. Lafayette Escadrille Skins?

Ace skins for the Nieuport 17s are rather poorly represented for the Lafayette Esc in relation to their other plane assignments. Excluding the squadron default skins, there are 14 Nieuport 11 skins, 16 Spad VII skins, and only 3 N17 skins (2 for Lufbery and one for Thaw). Sounds like a good research & contribution project. Also, I also see default squadron skins for both the base Nieuport17 and for the Nieuport17_Lewis. I haven't looked to see what the squadron actually gets assigned; but that might explain a bit more of the confusion.
  5. NieuportN24 Skins

    I stand corrected.
  6. While dabbling in some skin editing with the NieuportN24_Bis_Lewis, I discovered the RFC-40 N24 skins have a continuity issues with the stripe painting at the top of the fuselage. This is true even in the NieuportN24_Lewis version of the skins. It seems that the fuselage top portion of the skin is getting scaled (stretched). Here's the skin itself with a size grid laid on it. Looking at the tail stripes in the game, the top stripe is almost twice the width as the side stripe; but this isn't reflected in the skin file. Is this fixable?
  7. NieuportN24 Skins

Wow, that didn't take long to get that fixed. Thanks gents.
  8. WW1 Board Games

I've been wanting to get back into some of the WW1 air war board games (I played Richthofen' War a lot in my earlier years) , and I've recently gathered a few more I want to try. Unfortunately, my wife's cats make game play bit of an issue. I have a small collection of Wings of Glory models, joined the kickstarter for Age of Dogfights, and picked up a copy of Knights of the Air. There are also some Print and Play games out there.
  9. NieuportN24 Skins

It's just that the bands make the scaling obvious (as does Jerbear's image); but it's not just the flat->curve wrapping. If you look at my skin image, there are 6 squares between the fore and aft stripes on the fuselage side and about 5.25 on the fuselage top. BTW, the stripe continuity is fine of the fuselage belly. Anyway, I'm leaving this in the hands of the experts.
  10. The Great War

I totally agree, it's an excellent series. I only discovered it recently and have made it through The Great War. Now I'm currently going through the "Between 2 Wars" series and then its on to their World War Two week by week.
  11. Wish List for WOFF BH&H II

Instead of having a single default skin for a squadron, allow the squadron to have a generic skin for each squadron member. For example allow the creation of A,B,C,D,... skins for the RFC squadrons so each pilot could have a unique plane. These could be assigned by the pilot's position in the squadron when they join the squadron. Of course, ace skins should be the first choice if it exists.
  12. It's all gone quiet...

    This was mine:
  13. What? A Rick Rawlings Challenge?

I wonder if the landing gear is giving out. Landing gear damage was added is a feature in the BH&H2.
  14. What? A Rick Rawlings Challenge?

@Rick -- I was just looking at this (it's the engineer in me). There isn't much consistency between Weeks and Sorties. I suspect folks are interpreting weeks differently. I was entering challenge weeks, whereas my game weeks would have been 4 (11/11 - 11/30). Not that it matters now. As I said, it's the engineer in me .
  15. What? A Rick Rawlings Challenge?

Don't let anyone say this isn't the most realistic WWI sim available. I've already killed off my replacement pilot (collision with EA this time). Time to start a third -- grist for the mill.
  16. WoFF Flying and Fighting Instructions

I have this file. It's part of the "Flying and Fighting" Instructions in the General area on Sandbaggers MOD site https://thatoneplease.co/generalWOFF.html . There are 10 planes in the zip including the BE2c. The site says it's assembled by Rob Wiggins; but I don't know who wrote it.
  17. What? A Rick Rawlings Challenge?

@lofty_c congratulations on making ace and the DFC. Sounds well deserved. @Trooper117. While I don't fly the DiD cockpit configuration, I do kill my pilots off (a bit too frequently I'm afraid). It just adds to the realism of what happened during the war. I just hate it when it's my fault they die.

30 November 1917 In which my luck runs out It is with great sadness that I must report that Stephen Edwards V collided with a squadron mate while forming up. Stephen could not recover and crashed within a mile of the airfield. I've really enjoyed this, flying the SE5a, and I'll continue to follow everyone's adventures here. I might use the new WOFF feature where your new pilot can act as the replacement your previous one.

28 November 1917 In which the huns beat us to our Harry Tates B flight is assigned escort duty for some recon RE8s from RFC 4 Sqn. We take off, gain our altitude and as we arrive at the rendevous point, we can see in the distance the Huns have beaten us our Harry Tates. McScotch turns to the attack and the 5 of us join him. By the time we arrive, several of the RE8s are missing and their gunners are doing their best to fend of the Albs. I spend a minute or two in the melee and in one of my turns I notice an Alb trying to seek away from the flight below me. I suspect he's been hit already and dive on him. I pull in behind him and manage to track him and fire off the better part of my Lewis's drum. Just as I'm think I'll need to re-load, I make effect with my guns, and he rolls over and crashes. I turn around and notice I've gotten a bit away from the others and head back for the airfield. The end result: 5 RE8s forced down. No-one killed; but several of the machines are badly damaged. We manage to get 6 Alb DVa's. Three are credited to 4th Sqn, and three to 40th (mine included). N.B. Sorry forgot to take pictures in the heat of battle.
  20. What? A Rick Rawlings Challenge?

Well done Baldic. Keep it up.
  21. What? A Rick Rawlings Challenge?

Well I don't know about that -- I will say that I have been very lucky so far.
  22. What? A Rick Rawlings Challenge?

No. Not Tim. I will raise a glass in his honor.

24 November 1917 In which Stephen Edwards V gets shot up again After a 3 days of weather washouts, both A and B flights were sent up 6 planes strong each to patrol our lines. We just arrived at the start of our patrol when we were met by at least as many DVa flying from the other side, and we turned to taken them on. To says it was a bit of a scrap would be putting it mildly. I got shot up several times, and whether I actually hit any Huns I don't know. A bullet puncturing my fuel tank made me decide I'd had enough, and I figured I'd best get out of there. As I dove, one or two of the Albs took a few last shots at me; but they turned away as I crossed back over our slide of the lines. I was approaching Etrun when the engine cut out; but I managed to put her down safely (if a bit roughly). They say it'll take a day to repair. I'm off to the bar for a whiskey or two. I need it. 26 November 1917 In which Stephen Edwards V makes a boom Harry, McIrish and I were assigned to go balloon busting. This time we're after the one east of Vimy. It's actually a beautiful day for flying -- blue sky with white puffy clouds. I expect a lot of activity. To my surprise, we seem to be the only ones in the air. As we cross the lines, I keep looking for trouble; but we get to the balloon with only a cloud or two to oppose us. As arranged, Harry dives first, then McIrish, then myself. As I make my dive, I can see some smoke rising;, and I let loose. I see my bullets hit their mark and suddenly "boom". Up she goes. I pull up and start scanning for defenders. Nothing to be seen. I figure we might now attract some attention and turn towards our lines. Once across, I circle for a bit and meet up with Harry & McIrish. Before you know it, we're home. Job done. I put in my claim. I can't see this being denied. 27 November 1917 In which Stephen Edwards V gets a bit of jewelry
  24. What? A Rick Rawlings Challenge?

19 November 1917. In which, Stephen Edwards V gets back in the saddle and gets his first CONFIRMED kill As predicted, the CO sent me back up the next day (no rest for the weary). He at least let me sleep late by assigning me to an afternoon patrol. Both A and B flights were sent up to protect our airfield at Boisy-St.Martin. It was raining and I fully expected it to be a non-event; but as we approached our patrol aream 'McScotch', who was leading our flight B, spotted trouble and turned on a group of Alb DVa's. We were mixing it up with them, when another group of Albs and A flight joined party. Anyway, after finishing one Lewis drum, I reloaded and managed to turn on one of them. I let go with a long burst, saw several hits, and he went down out of control. A couple of minutes later, I did the same again and put in for two. 'Mick' said the second one pulled out near the ground; but he saw the first one go down. In total there were 6 Albs downed by 40 Sqn. It was a costly mission however. Sgts Channing and Farmer were both killed, and 5 others had put down with damaged craft. Mine even had a few holes in it.
  25. What? A Rick Rawlings Challenge?

17 November 1917. In which, oh bloody 'ell Well my claim from 15 November was denied due to lack of witnesses. I had rather assumed that would happened; but it's disappointing nevertheless. Oh well, I've got another mission today that I need to concentrate on. 'Tud', 'Harry' and I are sent over to take down one of the sausages that seems to be giving a good look at our chaps to the artillery. Off we go. There's the usual archie as we cross the lines and as we start to approach the german balloon, we get jumped by a whole German Jasta. I start taking hits and as I dodge one set of tracers, another trace starts from a completely different direction. I count 4 on my tail. All I can think is "bloody 'ell what a mess this is". I rather quickly lose my lower wing (oh bloody 'ell) and I figure I'd best get to the ground -- better to some time with the gerries than to either crash or burn or both. I do quite well for myself. I dive under control; and get myself lined up on a clearing. Just as I think I'm going to make a smooth landing, I take some of the rudder away and the plane flips and catches fire. Lucky I'm relatively unhurt I manage to scramble free and I watch her burn. Just as I'm thinking the smoke might draw some attention, it does and my capturers show up. I get taken to the Jasta 30 airfield at Phalempin where they treat me well. Over dinner, the discussion kept coming back to who should get credit for my downing, and they kept wanted me to settle the matter. I kept telling them I had my hands full and couldn't judge "who was who" or "who shot what". At times, the discussion seemed to get quite animated; but also appeared good natured. The next morning I couldn't believe my luck. A squadron of 2 seaters came over and bombed the airfield. There were several direct hits. In the confusion, I saw an opportunity and ran off and managed to make it to our lines on foot. An infantry private took me back to the command station, and they rang the squadron. A few hours later, the car arrives to bring me back to the squadron. Boy were the lads glad to see me. Both 'Tud' and 'Harry' had made it back safely. Seems I drew most of the attention and the two of them managed to make their escapes relatively unscathed. We didn't get the balloon though, so I expect there'll be other mission to go after it again. Commander wants me "back on the horse" so-to-speak, so I expect I'll have another mission tomorrow. I just hope it's not that bloody balloon. N.B.: I've written the result of this flight up to match the debrief rather than trying to remember the "escape rules" for BEL. In fact, I was rather surprised to see that I'd survived and escaped. The debrief says my plane was "relatively intact" when the image above clearly shows that it wasn't. Anyway, I'll leave it in Ricks hands to say whether this was appropriate or not.
