I'm having the same problem in SF (don't have WoV). I've verified by checking my planning screen between missions and noticed that by the fourth mission or so, all of my friendly squadrons and most of the enemy ones are gone. Well, after hours after teeth-grinding and a few pyschotic episodes, I've manage to get rudimetary cluster bombs into the game. You can't see it, but smoke and flying junk do show up a few miliseconds later. I'm going to throw some different sparkling effects in there as well. They kill things, too. Obviously the effects have a ways to go, and I can't figure out how to get the bomblets to disperse, but this may tide some of you over until a permanent fix shows up. If any one wants this, I'm going to spend a few days tweaking it, and hopefully get something out by Friday. -

I flew into Cuba a few years ago on vacation and was struck by how dark the jungle canopy was. This is just like it, fantastic job! Frankly, I don't use your Euro terrain, I think because I use digital vibrance and it makes the colours too bright, but this is simply an outstanding job! Have you figured out how to place trees? It seems to me that they are automatically placed at a certain colour in the tiles. If you've figured it out, let me know, I'd like to shoot more into the desert terrain. Once again, super job! -
In campaign mode: They'll attack ground vehicles and other objects if ordered. They don't do buildings under any circumstances. In single mission mode: Your wingman will do buildings if ordered. Other flights under your command will only do vehicles. Very frustrating, but use the Attack Ground command anyway to see them clear the area of AA threats.

I've just posted a fix here at Biohazcentral that should help you see the ground better during night missions. It's not perfect and I don't have screenshots, but the file itself might give you ideas on how to improve the lighting yourself -

Here's a couple of dawn screens from the latest version...It's 5:15 am and we're off to hit army headquarters in Riqdur. Still want to fix the water. Middle of the night is substantially darker, but you can still pick out murky details of the land. Now a 12:30 am shot...A-4 takeoff The game looks beautiful now...and night missions are no longer a drag! Light effects, with bombs and SAMs going off, are stunning! Set your nac lights to flash (CTRL+L) and you will see some beautiful lighting on the A/C. If anyone wants the latest, post your email address. -
Ejection can work

That's nice that you can eject over your own airfield and live...now try it anywhere else while damaged. I don't really care that there's no little animation of your pilot floating down to safety, but it would be nice if there was at least the possibility of survival. As it stands there isn't really a point to ejecting, which is made worse by the fact that any damage to your plane is usually instantly fatal. -

I know what you're talking about Dirtybird and this question has been asked a few times, but never answered to my satisfaction...This is one of those non-bugs that are seldom taked about. I've heard you are not killed if you eject over a friendly airbase, or if you eject from an undamaged airplane. So I believe being killed is representative of being captured. Maybe this will be looked at in a patch. -

I took a peek at the desert_targets.ini file. This, I imagine, controls the objects located in all missions, single or campaign, for the desert map. There are SAMs there, however they are only deployed in and around the following cities: Galzad, Jarimin, Kurzah, Qazbak, Seikel, and Suran. No airfields. These are all rear area cities. Therefore, they are not likely to be encountered until your forces have advanced deep into enemy territory. The SAM sites themselves all have activation dates, independant of the EXPORT date set in the SA-2xxx_DATA.ini file. It should be relatively easy to populate more SAMs into the map, provided some one can give me an idea of how the OFFSET property works.If some one can explain this to me, I will try to dump more SAMs into the map. -

My skins work fine, too, except in campaign mode you cannot change your skins anymore in the loadout screen. Maybe this is by design? Other than that, patch seems great. I actually dogfought (?? dogfighted??) a MiG-17 in my Hun and won! I still think cannons are way overpowered, TK, but when you release the editing tools, I'll fix that myself. Effects are fantastic! -

TK, Thanks for replying so quickly. I had it installed on my D drive. I reinstalled on my C: drive in the default path and it worked. I thought it didn't like custom path installations, but some one else on this board had no problem, so that rules that out. I also didn't have the CD in the drive, maybe that was it? The new effects are fantastic! -

I got that, too, untill I installed it again in the default path (C:Program FilesStrategy FirstStrike Fighters). I agree, it seems very Mickey Mouse. Hope you get it working, because the new effects are great! -

"YR what the heck you call this " I call it a fluke. Some one figured out how to get the AAA working in single-player missions. It does those of us who are into campaigns no good at all, and is hardly an endorsement to buy the game as it stands now. A/G is still sorely lacking. -

Birdogg, As an interim fix, extract the particlesystem.ini and add a 'LargeBombGroundExplosionEffect' effect by copying the BombGroundExplosionEffect and renaming it. You will get explosions for the mk117, mk83 and mk84. You can also easily make the explosions larger and with more varied effects by modifying vertain values. I made huge shock rings and lots of flying debris cuz that really gets me off. If you want send me an email at xxxPaul@aegisoft.caxxx (remove the x's) and I will send you mine. It's imperfect (FPS hog) but it may give you some inspiration for adding your own effects. I posted on this at 'that other forum' but most of the poeple left there are either Quake-style air-to-air junkies or feel the game is perfect the way it is. I have to take serious issue to the contention that the game is fine as it is. The patch will probably come out and make this the sim to end all sims (the era itself hooked me), but as it it is completely unplayable. Definately on the A/G side, and if you think it's playable in the A/A area, you have a much better imagination than I do. For one thing, the cannons are ridiculously overpowered, sinking ships and blowing aircraft up with single rounds (Don't start jabbering about tracers and engine hits and fuel lines, I know all about it). And what is the point of including an ejection function if you invariably die anyway? Don't get me wrong, I am rooting for this game in the long haul (Who doesn't love Huns and Thuds?), but it seriously needs fixing. To pretend otherwise is delusional. -
