  1. ED purchased Ricardo's hi-res pits for the Su's and the Mig. They look awesome.
  2. Eye candy is nice, but I hope some of the other show stoppers have been fixed. Like the severely broken AMRAAM. Like ED's "fix" for ECM macros (which would make you unable to be locked by radar to about 10 miles) which was to give it a 15 second warm up time. AWACS not STFU and repeating not only the contacts twice, but contacts anywhere in theatre even if they were 160 miles away. This one has been an issue for 8 (count 'em) years! Or using the EO exploit, where you go EO (Helmet mode) then switch on your radar. Enemy not only doesn't get a lock warning, but you can fire a radar guided missile. I'm playing devil's advocate here cuz I know the answer to the AMRAAM question, but the others were complete show stoppers for multiplayer. Some of you say that m/p isn't your bag, but you're missing out. The AI is never as good as playing against another human being. My squadron has gone up against numbers twice and thrice ours and we more often than not wipe out all the enemy. There's something ultimately satisfying about being agressive and putting superior numbers on the defense. I have many tracks where a wingman and I have killed 3 out of 4 enemies and had to break off the chase of the 4th because of our fuel state. In several instances the enemies went down w/out firing a shot. My point with all this m/p talk is that is how most of the bugs have been found in ED's software. I know ED wants to give us as good of a product as possible and with FC3 being integrated into World I think that finally all the squadrons and the lone wolves that enjoy m/p will come back to ED. There was a mass exodus from the online community because FC2 was such a broken POS that the majority couldn't stand to fly it any longer. With the updater the future looks bright and I'm hoping that the promised fixes that never came are a thing of the past. I fly the Warthog almost every day. It's nice to see that ED so far has been vigilant in pushing the fixes to the clients. IMHO that's the only way that ED can succeed because for every fanboi on their forums there's a disgruntled customer who isn't happy with broken promises to fix the software that they paid for. I'm planning some reviews for this site and while Dave has the preview copy I will be writing miy opinions as well. I've been flying ED's software since Flanker and seriously since Lock On was released. I've modded the hell out of the sim and flown more hours online than most will in s/p. Had this been last year or the year before I wouldn't be optimistic about anything ED was releasing. I've seen what I believe to be a turn around as of late and I think that maybe ED is starting to listen to it's customers. From what I'm getting from Dave there's a huge difference between FC2 and FC3. I can't wait to get my hands on it, and I'll be buying it the day it's released. It's been a long time since I've said that about an ED product. That being said I'm thrilled with DCS: Warthog.
  3. Taking Care Of One Of Our Fellow Simmers

Watched and donated. I'm having a great year and I'm very fortunate in these down economic times. It makes sense to pay it forward.
  4. I like the shot between the tails. I need to show you how to bring the camera down lower so you can see the backbone of the jet as well.
  5. Announcing DCS: UH-1H Huey

I bought Black Shark. It was fun for a month then it was the same ol, same ol. But it's a chopper that has a total production of 10. That's not a typo. I haven't flown it in years, so it's a no brainer that I didn't buy BS2. P51? Wrong time frame and nothing to fly against but modern ground vehicles or other P51's. Didn't buy it. Combat Arms? It's a beta, been down this road before and the terrain needs several things before CA becomes something I'd be interested in. Collision models for trees for example. Now a Huey? To fly what, resupply missions? It's a light skinned, slow moving target that cannot survive on the battlefield w/out support. Like other choppers. The weapons it carries aren't even capable of killing a tank. Even an old T-55. So no purchase for me. I'm not wanting to be critical here but I'm just giving my personal opinion on why I didn't purchase these modules. My squadron feels roughly the same way so I doubt that there will be any sales of the same modules with them. This is in stark contrast to my previous purchases, which is everything from LOMAC to DCS: Warthog I and my squadron bought every copy of. I wish TFC and ED well with their future endeavors and I hope they sell enough copies of DCS: Huey to make it a profitable module. Unfortunately it's not what the majority of us want. Modern fast movers in high fidelity is what the community is craving. Doesn't matter if they're strictly air superiority like the F-15 or something multirole like an F-16 or F-18. But that's what the community wants. Fast ground attack jets are wanted. I'll bet DCS: Warthog sold a butt-load of copies. Judging by the participation on the forums, the Frogfoot and the Hawg are the two most popular "modules" out, and surpassing that is the excitement that FC3 will be released and incorporated into world. I predict that the medium fidelity FC3 will be the best selling module ED has released and will only be surpassed in sales by a fast mover module. There is a niche for products like the P-51 and the Huey, but with no new theatres of operation as well as period correct enemy a/c and ground units these modules are just a passing "fad". I doubt they'll have legs.
  6. IRIS: F-14

    Canopy closes a bit fast.
  7. Frugals World is BACK!

I wonder if the same group of "tools" that thought they were Falcon 4 commandos are still there.
  8. Thanks, deadstick even. Couldn't even get the APU to fire. Luckily I had some altitude and found a long (fairly) straight road to land on. Set her down nice and gently but it seems that the nose and one of the rear tires were gone, cuz it made a loud squealy sound when I touched down. Once I slowed down where the rudders wouldn't work I ended up in the field. My crew chief is gonna have my ass. I don't have to walk far, cuz those two dots between my right engine and vert stab are friendly.
  9. Announcing DCS: UH-1H Huey

While I'm not a fan of the Huey there seems to be quite a few that are so more power to them for releasing it. Yes, I want a fast mover. Yes, I want FC3. Yes I want some of the bugs fixed in World so that it will be more playable. We're gonna see the first two on that list and IMHO the smartest thing ED has done in quite some time is to add the updater. We've already seen fixes that would have taken several months to make into a patch and for ED to release. I remember several versions of FC2/BS/Warthog that we had to suffer through till the next patch. I'm optimistic that will be a thing of the past. Another thing is the EDGE engine. I hope they get it completely sorted and as bug free as possible. At least ED isn't trying to carry on with a 10+ year old engine that's seen better days. I know it's difficult sometimes and I get impatient but I believe ED is on the right track. Not to say that you shouldn't still give your input as paying customers. Just that judging from the updates to World, ED seems to be on top of things.
  10. Have you tried downloading the version of A-10 off of ED's website and just using your serial number? Bypassing Steam?
  11. I like flying the Huey in BF3 in a circular pattern while the guys on the miniguns hose down the enemy. However, I believe you're wrong about it being the next module or a module at all. Disinformation. It's the Hornet.
  12. Underwhelmed..............At least it's not a russian aircraft that had only 30 or so made.
  13. F-18 is going to be the next module. Mark my words.
  14. When I fire up a quick launch random mission, when there's supposed to be a JTAC in the mission I can't pull JTAC up in the comms menu. Anyone else getting this?
  15. JTAC

That has to do with a pre-made mission. I'm talking about the random ones created by the editor.
  16. I had fine FPS issues after the game froze every time I unpaused the game at the beginning of the load. It was horrible, in one instance my gear went down at 280kts while the screen was froze. The newest update made it load like it should, no more problems.
  17. When you think life is too hard...

This happened in my hometown and I remember how terrible everyone felt that it happened to one of our public servants. He's a brave guy with a wonderful wife.
  18. Meanwhile in Texas....

Good for you! Thanks for serving.
  19. The Command Center II

Second pic looks like a whorehouse. I like it!
  20. The Command Center II

My old one: The last one: Current setup: You'll notice a steer horn above the monitor in this pic. A buddy sent me it as a thank you for helping him with his joystick profile. Yes, he's from Texas. Hardware for the rig includes a Buttkicker w/300 watt amp, HOTAS Warthog, CH Throttle Quadrant/Pro Pedals/DT255 trackball, a pair of X-Keys programmable controllers, a Genovation 35 key controller, pair of Thrustmaster MFD's and a TrackIR 5. The monitor is a 46" Samsung. The "game seat" is an Obutto and it's by far the best game seat I've ever tried.
  21. IRIS: F-14

Now we need an awesome carrier model and other assorted stuff pertaining to naval ops. Cuz what is in DCS: World now blows goats.
  22. IRIS: F-14

It's a shame cuz I was briefly invovled with FO. The terrain was amazing looking.
  23. Basic Help

You can get my FC2 profile here. You'll have to remove the controllers from the profile that you don't have, but I can talk you thru that. Have you mapped the throttle axis in game?
