Track Files
Ruggbutt replied to kram14's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
If you've recorded the tracks in a server w/no externals you'll have to use a tool called LOTU. You can "unlock" the views with it. If it's not available here, try lockonfiles.com. -
I don't care much about any of them.

Coop Nights on 3Sqn Server
Ruggbutt posted a topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
That's right folks, coop nights are coming. I have a bunch of coop missions that are randomized (with Lock On Mission Randomizer) that I've tweaked a bit and added more planes so that ya'll can have a different online experience. We have all kinds of missions and they never play out the same the next time you fly them. That pesky Mirage that jumps you as soon as you're wheels up may not spawn in next time. Or, it may spawn in 15 minutes after you take off and are more able to deal with him. How about that TOR site that keeps taking pot shots at you as you're running in to the target? He may not even be there the next time you fly by. But he might spawn in as you're inbound. ;) Here are a few of the missions that I've created just for the community: The platform is being used as a seagoing base to smuggle weapons and supplies. It needs to be hit as well as the cargo ships coming and going. Be careful, Mirage, F16 and F4 fighters as well as SAM sites are protecting it. Migs and Su33's will be performing the strike. The coalition must strike the base at Sevastopol in the wee hours of the morning. Migs and 33's will be the strikers and the flight inbound is long. Due to the heavy loadouts the 33's will be carrying, landing to refuel at a friendly base will be necessary. Same for the Mig. This is a long and dangerous flight wrought with SAMs and bandits. Scramble!! Tu95's have been spotted by AWACS and we fear they may be carrying cruise missiles. You have to balance your fuel consumption with getting to the intercept area ASAP. It's possible to smoke the bombers before they launch. You'll need coordination between flights to acheive this. If the bombers launch the mission changes and you have to intercept the cruise missiles. This mission will get your pulse to rise and will test your skills. The Turks have launched their TICO cruiser and are conducting operations. The cruiser (and it's radar) are a threat to anything flying and must be taken out. Enemy CAP is out in abundance and is being vectored towards any air targets the TICO spots. We've got a few Su33's equipped with KH-31's (the 41's haven't arrived in theatre) and we have to escort them to the target area safely. I've flown this mission 7 times and once we were able to sneak between all the CAP and the 33's had an easy time launching on the TICO. The other 6 times there were differing waves of fighters hitting us at different times. This mission is difficult and it's especially challenging for the Flanker pilot. He's going to want to take some shots at the enemy CAP but he must trust his escort a/c. -
There should be an asterisk by the steroid users' names in the record books.

Su-27 flaperon positions question
Ruggbutt replied to fedaputa's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Evidently on the real a/c there is only up or full down. So the mid position was removed. The AI may still have it written in their code though. The AI use a different flight model than clients use. -

If you have Flaming Cliffs, it goes in the Modman/addons_fc folder. -

It installs mods into the game for you so you don't have to do each file manually. -

Ruggbutt replied to rxtrix505's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
You need Modman to install most of those mods. Be carefuwith that stuff cuz eventually it will force you to reinstall the game. -
LOMAC HELP AGAIN
Ruggbutt replied to rxtrix505's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
The F15 doesn't have a working tailhook, so if you're just putting a different skin over the plane you're still flying an F15. -
Next time you speak to him (or write) tell him that Rugg gives him a salute and my gratitude for his service. I'll keep him in my prayers.

Backup your ME INIT file before you play around with the payload editor. You'll thank me later. -

Actually, Dice has stated that drag is also part of the reason. Same with CBU's. MER's can be mounted and more cannisters can be loaded, but there is a huge drag penalty. In fact, rarely is more than one Mav loaded per station. You can argue with me all you like Growler, but Dice loads these aircraft (as well as a bud of USAFMTL's). In fact, Dave's bud said he's never seen that many Mk. 82's. He's seen twelve. One on each pylon and TER's on 3 and 9. But that's the total loadout. Dice stated that some changes were made to the racks and that the tires being scorched wasn't as much of a problem as the flaps being toasted. So it's partially valid? But you didn't include my statement in yours so doesn't that make your response partially valid as well? Cold busted. Getting back to how this affects LOMAC, you can load 3 Mavs (or CBU or Mk.82) on 3 and 9 in the stock game. I've seen these guys start using the pylon editor then they come back and ask someone to e-mail them a stock ME INIT because the editor fuxored it. I'm just confused as to how someone who doesn't fly the game has the answers. -
SU-33 Airbrakes
Ruggbutt replied to kram14's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Those are canards and they turn down to keep the nose of the plane down. Your airbrake is behind your cockpit on the spine of your plane. -

Well Growler, I prefer to fly with loads that are similar to what have been loaded and used IRL. With that in mind I took the info Dice has given over on the LOMAC forums as pretty much gospel. They ferry the planes with 3, they don't fire them that way. The pic you posted is a test bed. The a/c is capable of carrying that much ordnance, but it knocks down manueverability which is the Warthog's forte. By the looks of that pic it's taken in the early 70's and the mentality back then was that the A10 would be more of a bomber/tank killer. It performs those roles nicely but if a whole bunch of ordnance needs to be dropped there's better aircraft that can fill that role. The A10 only came into it's own in the Gulf War, which gave it renewed life because the Air Force was going to mothball the aircraft. If you don't believe me, ask Dice. I guarantee you he's never seen a combat operational A10 carry 18 of anything. In fact, if you read the captions closely, that's a YA-10 which is a testbed. I can see how you'd be confused by thinking that it might carry all that ordnance. A good tip for you to remember is when you see the long probe on the nose of aircraft like the one you see on the A10, it's being tested and developed. It's not been put into production. I hope that clears a few things up for you. -
I'll preface this conversation by saying that if you spotted me in a crowd and screamed out "rugg" or "ruggbutt", I'd turn around. It's been my nickname since 1989. Anyhow, I used to a rocker dude in the 80's thru the mid 90's and I had hair down to my waist. But that's not why I got the nick. I used to date a stripper I met when we were in Las Vegas and she came up with the nickname. You see, when I was in my late teens I used to get kicked out of public pools cuz the lifeguards kept telling me to take off my sweater. I don't have back hair but I got lots on my chest, legs, arms, face and you guessed it: my butt. So Vicky (the stripper) and I were hanging w/one of my buds (who's now a lawyer) and we were just chatting. I was wearing a button down shirt and the fir was visible and my lawyer bud said it looked like shag carpet on my chest. Vicky said my hind end looked like that too. She said it looked like a rug she used to have and my nick was born. During the first half of the 90's I started shooting combat matches semi-professionally and we had shirts made for our team. We called the team SHF Tactical (which was short for "suicidal hippie f**k's with guns". We all had nicknames and once the shirts were printed my name was permanent. It's better than some the guys got. Soupboy, Bo-Bo, Caveman, Fishbelly, Zero-T (tolerance) to name a few. In a moment of temporary insanity I actually checked into changing my first name to "Rugg".
