I agree w/you on this one Bard (don't get used to that). I was pissed about Ravenshield, which cost $10 US more than LOMAC did. I don't think that I'd have posted my dissatisfaction for 6 months but thats just me.................. -

I don't doubt you want this FS to rock. Like I stated you made some great points. I wish it had been "finished" from the beginning too, but sometimes shiznit happens. I don't have time to look for the post but Carl flat out stated that UBI pushed for the Christmas release. I think that Matt's leaving has nothing to do w/anything but a better working condition, more money or both. ED is still a business entity and I don't doubt they are working on other projects, Carl has alluded to a new "engine". Not sure if it's a FS engine or not. If I was a betting man I'd say that all this 'hush hush' stuff has more to do w/contractual obligations rather than anything else. UBI still has ED obligated to do this patch. That much has been said. While I don't know the specifics I would imagine that after this patch ED will have fulfilled their contract w/UBI. Maybe Carl will be better able to fill us in after that. -

He wasn't attacking you Rammstein. He voiced his opinion in the same manner as you did. I do agree w/several of your points though, including the "Beta Testers" being the forum police over there. But, it is UBI's site so I suppose putting the 'yes-men' in control over there was a smart business proposition. I like LOMAC very much and have been flying it (and having fun) even w/all of it's warts (much like the F4 community did till the code was leaked). I'm having fun programming the missions, flying same, recording tracks, rendering clips and making movies too. I guess I just found a sim that I like and I spend plenty of time w/it. IMHO ED will have the next patch in great shape for all of us to get back to flying instead of the arguing that has been going on. If it was me I'd want to release the patch to fix all the niggling issues so that I could pave the way for LOMAC 2 (or whatever an addon or expansion might be called). It makes good business sense and I think that Carl and the rest at ED have enuf on the ball to learn from their mistakes. I wouldn't expect them to release another product w/as many issues (even though we all know that UBI probably forced them to release at Christmas whether they wanted to or not). -

One of the beta testers stated that ED is not done supporting LOMAC. Not sure exactly what that means though. -

A patch ia always for fixing an unfinished product. If it was finished it wouldn't need a patch. It's not endemic to LOMAC, it's all software that is released. Let's not forget that please. -

Lomac V1.02 Patch Update
Ruggbutt replied to SlickWili's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
I think that ED realizes that for any kind of addon's they need to get this patch correct. I for one would buy an addon as IMHO this is the only sim out there right now thats worth anything (F4 included). At least the damn thing is current and is being supported. -
Lomac V1.02 Patch Update
Ruggbutt replied to SlickWili's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
I'm just rehashing the same old stuff that Bard is. Have a problem w/that? Of course you do cuz he's your squaddie. Why don't you discuss just one of my points? BTW, my response wasn't aimed only at Bard. You might want to read it again. If we're going to discuss things then address what I posted. Unless you don't disagree w/what I said then I was contributing to this conversation wasn't I? The game isn't perfect but it's far from unplayable. The work going into the patch to get it right already has the naysayers commenting on it, and they haven't even patched the game yet!!! And the manual thing is irrelevant. There are those of us who don't wanna pay for something like that, and UBI worked w/Nic to provide one for those of you that do. In a nutshell thats what my post stated. My comment about the crybabies and trolling wasn't directed at anyone in particular, read it again. I offered Bard some help, sue me if it sounded sarcastic but the offer still stands. The continual complaining about the release state of LOMAC doesn't do any good at all, does it? Whats done is done and adults typically move on instead of harping on it. That goes for all the naysayers, again I haven't directed that towards anyone. If my opinion isn't wanted here (evidently Growler thinks my opinion shouldn't be voiced) then pull my account here. I have already requested my account be pulled at Frugals for various reasons, I suppose that bringing it over here from Frugals is what Growler is up to. I won't bite and I will not state my reasons here on these boards. My opinions are diametrically opposed to (most) of Bard's posts, but I'm offended that his squad mate would post that my opinion isn't allowed over here. That is as much of a "perceived" attack as what I was accused of. I came here to discuss LOMAC. If this is a private conversation between Bard and Weasle then maybe this thread should have been locked. Until then my opinion matters just as much as anyone elses. Back OT now: We all need to realize that the myriad of hardware and software combinations can cause unwanted side effects in the programming, whether it be LOMAC or any other piece of software. There are so many variables involved that install and play are becoming a thing of the past. I beta tested FarCry and it came a long way from it's beginnings and even though I knew what to expect on the final release I still had to tweak my rig (AMD64 3200, 9800xt). They weren't big tweaks , they were more like letting the game handle AA and AF. I use 3D Prof to change my settings automatically for each game. I can run LOMAC using 4x AA and 8x AF, but FarCry would grind to a halt w/my rig if I did that. The game will control those for you so I set my card to application preference. So you see, just between 2 games released by the same company you need different settings to run them. This is oversimplified but I found that when I learned how to tweak my rig that it ran better w/all games, not just LOMAC (my old rig I ran LOMAC on was an 1800 athlon). UBI forced the release of LOMAC too soon, Carl stated that. Thats how big business is, and the mentality to patch later is typical of UBI (look at Ravenshield). I think we can be thankful that ED is working hard on putting the finishing touches on the patch as they know that this community has a long memory. I believe that Wags and Stormin' care about their product. I believe that once this patch is released that no matter how good it is there will still be the naysayers w/their flip comments. You can't win 'em all but in no way is LOMAC unplayable. You may not like the F-15 being undermodelled or the way the Russian radars burn thru jamming too easily. The fact is that I can get as many online kills w/the 15 as I can w/the 27. It's all about adjusting your tactics and your strategy. I'll be happy when the 15 acts like it should after the next patch, but I'm having a ball w/LOMAC just the same. There are a lot of us out there that are. Just look at all the movies the "fans" have made, I can tell you from experience that they are time consuming to render and clip together. They're all a work of love though and the few people that slam LOMAC are just that, a few. The majority of people that are playing it are loving it. -
Lomac V1.02 Patch Update
Ruggbutt replied to SlickWili's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Bard is hashing up the same old stuff over and over..........."Shoulda, woulda, coulda" hardly ever happens. Fact The game was released w/plenty of bugs. Blame UBI for that, developers are notorious for that type of stuff. At least ED is trying to get this patch right. The first patch was released in a hurry, and you all see what we got w/that!!! Fact No amount of complaining is gonna change the status of the patch. ED will not release the next patch until they feel confident that it fixes all known issues. I imagine that the asshats have actually helped us a little in this field as the devs are sick and tired of the trolling by the same individuals. I suppose we owe Bard some thanks after all. :D Fact 6 months isn't a lot of time to wait to have the game patched correctly. Is the game unplayable? I don't think so!!! It ran well on my old 1800 Athlon just fine, only had to tweak my rig slightly. Most of it was turning off Windows services that I don't need or use. Fact There are many of us out there that fly LOMAC every day and even though there are some bugs and stuff that needs to be fixed the game is still a blast. The F-15 is undermodelled but I enjoy the challenge, as do many others. I have flown every A-10 mission I could get my hands on w/ no labels, and beat them all. I've beat every mission that came w/the game (even w/v 1.0). You can choose to play the game even w/it's warts or troll the forums and be an asshat. Some people are more suited to the latter. Fact Some of us don't need or want a manual that merely regurgitates how to's like "split S" and "ACM manuevering". Take a look at your F4 manual, I had to skip that section too. But then again I'm that good. Bard, get w/me on ICQ. I'm willing to help you out w/some pointers. Either that or buy Nic's manual. The options are out there so put your money where your mouth is. But then again trolling doesn't cost a dime. Why don't you crybabies stop already and wait for the next patch? I'm sure ya'll will find something wrong w/it but jeez, it's been 5 months of whining!!! -
UBI did Ravenshield, and it's horrible. But, LOMAC has been almost trouble free on my old 1800 Athlon and runs great on my AMD64 3200. Same w/FarCry. I was a beta tester and it's come a long way and is almost bug free.

The song was "Click Click Boom" by Saliva. The music up until the main tune kicks in is from White Zombie, don't remember the name of the song but it's off of the La Sexorcisto album. -

I run an 1800 Athlon w/1.25 gigs of DDR. I have no probs running it. I had to do some tweaks but I'm happy as a clam w/the 1.1 patch.
