  1. Beautiful piece of work mate. Amazing!
  2. He was. I'm pretty sure there have been new AI settings added since then. Thanks for the feedback those that have PM'd me. Version2 Getting some nice, long lasting, 'swirling' dogfights with this. The AI seem to manoeuver against each other a lot more. I've taken a few things back to their default values, a dramatically changed a few others. If you compare the AI settings you'll see what I've been playing with BTW, anyone who want to take this as a start and have a go at playing with these settings is more than welcome to, I'm about to get back onto the E.I/E.II variants (probably 4 of those) and the E.IV so this will go on the back-burner for me for a while
  3. I honestly don't know. I think there are some AI settings introduced in the last patch that are FE specific. You could give it a try but its an 'at your own risk' thing.
  4. No mods to any aircraft, this is just general AI behaviour.
  5. Among other things I've been messing about with the AI setting trying to get: a.) more effective/dangerous AI and b.) more distinct differences between the levels. This is what I've come up with: Link Its a new AIRCRAFTOBJECT.INI file, unzip it into your \Objects folder - please check first and backup your copy if you already have one in that folder. Just delete the file to go back to the game settings. Work-in-progress so I'll be interested to know what you think. I have to say that at the higher AI levels they engage at much shorter range so an initial head-on pass can be a lot more interesting as the AI don't 'flinch' as much :)
  6. Very nice Peter, In the next few days I'll go back and update all the prior release packs with the new FM's

  9. Available now: Fokker E.III and Fokker E.IIIa (Two-gun variant) Model by Laton Skins by v. Deutschmark FM by peter01 (original FM by peter, with a few tweaks he & I have been working on together for the last few days) More skins to come from v. Deutschmark and the Release pack also includes a full set of templates for anyone who wants to make & release their own skins. Note: I haven't tested these on a system with Bort's versions so if you have them installed you should probably backup or rename the folders so that these don't over-write them. The E.I/E.II should be out in the next week or so. The E.IV probably the week after that.

  12. Just make sure its a rotary-engined rock in this case
  13. The results are not what you'd expect
  14. Just got the (almost) finished skin from v. Deutschmark so:
  15. It'll be part of the pit.
  16. Coming along: E.I/II E.III E.III - Two gun version E.IV Pit
  17. It could be a similar problem to the one that you sometimes get with the A-Team Camel. Have a look in the FlightEngine.ini file (you may need to extract it from the FlightData.CAT) and check the GraphicsSettings section. It should look like this: [GraphicsSettings] ZBufferDepth=24 MaxVertexCount=16384 MaxIndexCount=32768 MaxTextureCount=16384 MaxModelType=2048 MaxMeshPerScene=2048 MaxModelPerScene=4096 MaxLightPerScene=1024 AspectRatio=1.333333 MinPixelSize=1.0
  18. Is it happening at a specific point? Dropping bombs, landing?
  19. Cheers, Now the SP.3 is out I'll be back onto the E.I/II/III/IV series The model itself is almost done, have to add the rigging and a few details. Then I'll start in on the pit. Edit to add: Mapped & in-game shots

  21. Something for you to chase down in Bort's aircraft The Savoia Pomilio SP.3 Model & FM by Laton Skins by v. Deutschmark **Thanks to the SFP1 Dev A-Team (capun, CB Productions, Charles, Kesselbrut & The Wrench) for kindly providing the front gunner 3D Mesh** She's equipped for bombing and ground attack as well as balloon-busting (but get in close - you only have a few shots). Fast, especially if you're in an early war fighter, but with an upper wing-tank that's vulnerable and can have spectacular results if you can hit it. Available at CombatACE. More skins to come from v. Deutschmark and the Release pack also includes a full set of templates for anyone who wants to do their own skins.

  23. Given the events of the last few days I though I’d post my perspective on making models for this sim. This has turned into a bit of a hobby for me, I do it because I enjoy building these things and like seeing them in-game. Prior to 3D stuff I built scale models for quite a few years (more on this later). I don’t claim to make the perfect product either. Probably the best thing I’ve done is team up with v. Deutschmark and peter01 to make this stuff (by the way its not an exclusive team - I'll work with anyone who wants to lend a hand. Its a good way to get your favorite plane built ). We have a good and free flow of information going and it allows me, as a modeller, to make my mistakes in private and get them pointed out before release. And I’ve made a few – I think I got the stabilizer area on the SP3 wrong 3 times before I figured out what was going on with the plans. Take a look at the latest Fokker E.III screens I posted – yep that’s a 7-cylinder engine rather than the correct 9-cylinder – teach me for re-using parts from the Pfalz – it’s fixed now. There will almost always be areas that are not quite up to scratch. It’s often difficult to find good references on rigging, especially around the tail/empennage area. Sometime’s its best to leave something out than get it completely wrong. I’ve found other things that are currently beyond what I can do in 3DS or get working in-game and so I’ll try to represent it but it may not be spot on. I want feed back on this stuff – in the long run it makes me a better modeller. Earlier I said I used to build scale models: I’ll tell you this – the criticism of stuff I’ve seen here is nothing to what you get if you put a finished kit into a competition (I’ve been a competition judge as well so I can be as pedantic as the next guy when it comes to this sort of thing). I’ve had models that I’ve spent months working on shredded by a judge in a comp. in 10 minutes– annoying – Hell, yes - but part of the game. Now, like most people I’ve been around the forums long enough to see all kinds of silly stuff. If you show up in a thread and throw crap at one of my models in general, well, I’ll probably just file your opinion away in the "moron" section. If on the other hand, you show up and question something with references to back you up – great, I’m more than willing to go back and check/correct and possibly fix something (within reason – if a step is slightly the wrong shape then I guess you’ll just have to live with the disappointment). In the end, I want to see FE grow and expand as it’s a fun sim/game and I’d like to see the community stick together and make even more improvements. Most of all – I take a pretty relaxed attitude to the whole thing, lets just have fun.
  24. OK, Looks like the relese schedule will go like this: E.III E.I/E.II(?) E.IV Based on differences and how much extra modelling/changes will be needed. The SP.3 will be out sometime soon, then the Fokker's followed by the Strutter and the H-B D1 after that. Peter01 will be doing the FM's for the Fokkers, I know he's been working up a few tweaks for the MS/Pfalz family as well. I'm out of town for a few days at a conference (damn real-life intruding on my hobby ) so if i don't reply to PM's or email for a few days thats why.
  25. I'm reminded of Douglas Adam's description of the Vogon ships: "Uglier things have been seen in the sky, but not by reliable witnesses"
