  4. It works! Still have to paint the pit, play with the FM etc
  5. Bits & Pieces
  6. I've been meaing to have a look at the Nieuports as thay do seem pretty flimsy. I can't open the RAR that they come in at work, but in the _data.ini file what are the following values? [AircraftData] .......... .......... DefaultArmorType=WOOD DefaultArmorThickness=25 [LeftWing] (or any wing section) .......... .......... DetachWhenDestroyed=TRUE DamageRating=DESTROYED
  7. Looks good Bucky, I'll give it a try when I get home from work.
  8. Wings are on & painted. Changed the mapping arrangement on the fuselage & a complete repaint of the main components adding detail and re-aligned the wood grain, still some smaller parts to paint.
  9. For sound: if you look in the _data.ini file you shoucd see a section that looks something like this (from the Fokker E.III): [sound] EngineSoundName=???? <--- ???? being the name of the sound file needed, probably RotaryEngine GearsSoundName=Gear EngineSoundPosition=0.0,1.00,0.0 Have a look in the sounds folder and check if there is a file there with the same name. If not copy one of the other engine sounds and rename it.
  10. 9.1m certainly looks much nicer when you get the plans into Max. I'l go with that.
  11. Good point. It's not a big chore to repaint, everything is in Photoshop layers.
  12. This is why you need to double-check sources. I've been using the Windsock Datafile for a reference, just discovered that they have the wingspan wrong. It's a metre to short in their book.
  13. Some more mapping done. Pit next
  14. So little time - so many intersting planes! I'll try to keep this thread updated as I go. Once the fuselage is finished I'll probably build the pit and leave the wings/flight surfaces to last as they tend to be quicker to build.
  15. Yeah, it's one that you need cross-sections on the plans for I notice that there seems to be a bit of a kink in the fuselage towards the tail I'll need to look at. The cooling louvres on the engine cover took the most messing around, there is another 10 or 12 under the nose.
  16. Thought I'd give you guys a quick look at my next project: I'm trying a few new methods fo this one. Building, mapping and painting the sub-assemblies as I go.
  17. Those look great quack!. Not sure why you're getting a slow down - texture loading perhaps? MY PC power supply is about to die (I'm on my laptop ATM) I'll have a look when my desktop is back up and running.
  18. The file has been approved. Should be available now.
  19. Available here as soon as the file is approved: Link Tha Hansa-Brandenberg D1 "Star-Strutter. This is the early version with the smaller tail and slightly lower pilot seating. New FM provided by peter01! I highly suggest staying over 90mph with this one, it's very tricky in a turn fight, if you find you're having a lot of stalls try reducing joystick sensitivity. Peter has also kindly provided a new FM for the Phonix KD1 - see the new thread for that. There will be a small update to both over the weekend to add the new pilot by Geezer. Cheers Laton

  22. Peter01 has kindly made up a new FM for the Hansa-Phonix KD1 As usual it's a very nice piece of work. Stay fast! There will be a small update over the weekend to add a revised pilot figure by Geezer. Phonix_DATA.zip
  23. If you want to play around with the effect I'd suggest messing around with the following fields (this is not the exhaust effect file, I can't unrar the file at work, but all of the important lines are the same): [EmitterType001] Name=AircraftEngineDamageSmokeEmitter EmissionType=POINT_EMITTER UpdateType=NON_MOVING MaxVisibleDistance=10000.000000 <-- Fairly obvious but worth playing with EmissionRate=0.02000 <-- Key field, a lower number = higher emission rate EmissionVolume=0.100000,0.100000,0.100000 ParticleUpdateType=RANDOM_MOVING ParticleRenderType=ANIMATED_SPRITE ParticleNumAnimationFrame=4 ParticleAnimationScale=0.5 ParticleRandomOrientation=TRUE ParticleLifeTime=12.000000 <-- Again, fairly obvious but small changes can have big consequenses ParticleLifeTimeDeviation=0.700000 ParticleWeight=0.00000 ParticleRandomness=0.100000 ParticleWindFactor=1.0 ParticleColorTableType=TABLE ParticleColor[01].Time=0.000000 ParticleColor[01].Value=0.400000,0.300000,0.200000,0.000000 <-- Pretty sure these are RGB values, the 4th field is opacity, increase for a more visible effect ParticleColor[02].Time=0.005000 ParticleColor[02].Value=0.400000,0.300000,0.200000,0.250000 ParticleColor[03].Time=0.800000 ParticleColor[03].Value=0.200000,0.200000,0.200000,0.250000 ParticleColor[04].Time=1.000000 ParticleColor[04].Value=0.100000,0.100000,0.100000,0.000000 ParticleSizeTableType=TABLE ParticleSize[01].Time=0.000000 ParticleSize[01].Value=0.400000 <-- controls how ‘wide’ the effect is as a given time. ParticleSize[02].Time=0.5000000 ParticleSize[02].Value=3.000000 ParticleSize[03].Time=1.5000000 ParticleSize[03].Value=9.000000 BaseSizeDeviation=0.4 TextureMaterial=AnimatedSmokeMaterial ETA: Thats from memory - if you, say, increase the emission rate number & get less smoke then I've remembered wrong
  24. Once I get the next Star-Strutter out I'll be starting on the Ansaldo SVA5. After that I'm not sure - the idea of bulding a Vimy has been getting more & more appealing lately.
  25. I've been playing with the exhaust effect, trying to get a much more subtle exhaust trail. I find the stock game ones distracting a lot of the time. Drop the two effects .ini's into your Effects folder - make backups of your existing versions! The effect is there but generally its not as obvious on other aircraft unless you're really close. Give it a try with one of the inline birds like the Albatross D3, Pflaz D3 or my Star-Strutter. If you use it on the Strutter you'll need to open the _data.ini file, find the Engine section and then the line that says: ExhaustEmitterName= and change it to ExhaustEmitterName=CleanExhaustEmitter These are still work-in progress so I'd love to hear suggestions ETA. Screenshots of this are a bit hard to get, this one shows it but the in-game effect is more subtle and much more 'active' Effects.rar
