I'm not near my PC at the moment....perhaps one of our other intrepid modders can send the file? FC -
F-5a
FastCargo replied to sophocles's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Sweet! One thing...you may want to take a look at my T-38A cockpit I did. The MAX file is available in the Modder's section and you may be able to use some of the stuff I did for it since a lot of the parts for the F-5A and T-38A were similar. FC -
Damaged model
FastCargo replied to russouk2004's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Actually, I thought Disabled meant the mesh was still there (with damaged textures) but the effectiveness was gone, but Destroyed meant the node was blown off and the DamagedNode was shown instead. -
I think it's a good solution. Simply regulate and tax it like alcohol and tobacco, and prosecute abusers like you do for DUI and 'public drunkeness'. Fundamentally, currently illicit controlled substances are not much different than alcohol and tobacco, and we let those things ruin lives everyday. At least by legalization and regulation, we can reduce the associated violence of illegal drug trafficking. FC

SF2 Korean War Era F9F-2 Panther Pak by bobrock
FastCargo replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Folks, if there are missing credits, be aware it was by accident, not through any deliberate action. It has been 4 years, so sometimes names fall through. Just send a PM (or better yet, let Wrench, The know in the Mig Alley forum). FC -
Language is one of those things that can be be very country/culture centric. Europe has an advantage in that there are several countries, close together, with small populations...you perforce have to be multicultural. Somewhere like the United States, a very large country with a large population...you could spend your whole life, living and traveling to different places, seeing vastly different landscapes and culture...and not have to speak anything but English. English is one of those languages that is easier to learn because it tends to be pretty fault tolerant. You can mangle tones, stresses, even syntax and still be understood. It can be very hard to master because of all the exceptions though...and there are a lot, due to it nature of being a 'mutt' language (absorbing parts of other languages). Asian languages to me are VERY difficult. In those, tone, stress and duration mean everything. You can mangle those in Anglo based languages and still be understood...you do that in an Asian language and whole sentences can change. Heck, China actually has 2 spoken languages that use the same written symbols for words but the spoken words are totally different. FC

You didn't mention that this is also a whole new model.....:-) FC -
James, It seems to me you are going about this wrong. What I mean to say is this. You sound like someone who is intelligent and can articulate clearly. Your posts here at CA have tended to be easily read, understood, and usually very to the point....if sometimes a bit passionate. Which doesn't sound like someone who can only do brute force work...coming at it in a brute force way (ie straight on). Have you thought about doing an end run? Finding work that doesn't require a lot of physical activity but has plenty of entry level opportunity (telephone CSR comes to mind)? Also, if you have the opportunity, goto cracked.com and read some articles by John Cheese. I think you will find a kindred spirit there. The universe has a billion different ways it will try to kill you...don't give it any help. FC

THAT is a Russian cat if there ever was one...and people voted for this choice? FC
-
And all those photos of the Hindenburg were setup too. Seriously Lexx, not everything is a goddamned conspiracy. FC

Okay, easy there trigger. MAKO69 was making a joke is all. And if you note, I never contradicted what you said about where you got the flight suit from...merely clarified for anyone interested in buying exactly what they are getting. FC
-
That flight suit definitely was not around during Desert Storm...that's a McPeak era uniform. Also, it doesn't look like it ever saw any use...there are no velcro patches on the upper arms or on the right chest above the pocket. FC
-
That just ain't right... FC

Marine Phantom books
FastCargo replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Very good book...I'm honestly surprised Trotti didn't put out more books after that. -
Due to Wrench, The recent problems with his HD reminded me to tell folks about this product: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allway_Sync It is a free program that can sync folders, drives, computers. It does auto, scheduled, timed, differenced, etc. Heck, it can even do a sync just based on detecting a new external drive being plugged in or keyboard inactivity. You can tell it to not overwrite or delete files on the backup drive (or backup drives!) if you're worried about deleting something too soon. Basically, it is the same as if you were running a RAID setup, but with even more control. If you can afford an external drive to backup (even on a different computer on your network), there is no reason you should lose ANY data...it makes it as painless as possible. FC

Nicely put JM. FC

What If Screenshot Thread.......
FastCargo replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
More than you think. The wings are mirror mapped so you can't get a true 'wrap around camo'. And templates are easier than you think...I made custom ones for these F-106 mods: http://combatace.com/topic/63073-what-if-screenshot-thread/page__st__800#entry572643 Pretty much the only thing that changed between each coloration was the tail flash and the colors themselves...all the rest of the template is in different layers. YAP Vietnam Era Carriers in SF-2NA Standard
FastCargo replied to paulopanz's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Well, it is still quite feasible to outfit carriers with additional objects (as long as you have LODs of the objects in question) without needing additional catapults. The new entries in SF2:NA show how to do this pretty easily...simply establish new 'Gunners' that can't move, with new 'missiles' that can't fire. The aircraft of course can use the entries as detailed in a standard SF2:NA carrier. FC -
