She was fired because she is a piss-poor leader. Period. I've known plenty of commanders where every other word they said had something to do with some sort of bodily function. But, they were good LEADERS, respected and liked by their subordinates. And I've known commanders who never said a foul word...and were lucky they weren't lynched. So spare me your 'brown shoe' story days...it doesn't apply in this case. FC

opening canopies
FastCargo replied to landrover's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I have to say, does no one play with the Options panel anymore? Right in that area of the sim is a Controls panel...click on that and it shows the keylist for every function, and it's user changeable. After the video options, that's the first thing I do with every game (shooter, sim, RTS, etc) I play is customize my controls...seems like it would be natural. FC -

And how did you try them? Not all aircraft use the same keys to animate the canopies. FC -

Rudder pedals or joystick
FastCargo replied to Von Paulus's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Well, I think partially it depends on what you are used to. But, for flight controls the less 'blending' you have to do yourself per control, the more precise you can be in each axis. As an example, say you're trying to fly in a slip...so you have put the stick to the left, while twisting it to the right. Imagine how unnatural that would feel on your wrist, vs using a rudder pedal. FC -

Surely this is the unluckiest family in the world?
FastCargo replied to allenjb42's topic in The Pub
Yes and no. Yes, they've had the bad luck to be caught in 2 severe earthquake zones in a short amount of time. But, from what I can tell, they are all still alive and physically well. Yes, they'll need time to mentally get over this...but at least they all have the option to do so...many people in Haiti and Chile will never have that. FC -

Assuming you followed instructions and put the required files in your Mod folder it should work right away. If, however, you don't have any idea what I'm talking about... FC -
HELP NEEDED
FastCargo replied to Cheddar's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Sounds like a disc authentication error. Goto thirdwire.com, download the Oct 08 patch for Wings Over Vietnam, ( http://www.thirdwire.net/files/dl/WOV_Update_Oct2008b.exe ) run the patch, then try starting the game again. The patch will remove the CD-ROM checking requirement, as well as update your game. FC -
I can tell you that. Yes, there is an Arnold Hall Theater at the USAF Academy. It's quite possible he performed there in 1985. FC

Utah women may face murder charges after miscarriages
FastCargo replied to xclusiv8's topic in The Pub
I would tend to agree except in the following: Unlike a fetus (or for that matter, stem cells) where there is only the possibility to save other lives through abortion, a person who is harvested as a capital punishment case is capable of saving other lives immediately. Sure there is...never said there wasn't. But, these cases are relatively rare, and so can be addressed on that individual basis. Does not mean the law is invalid. This to me is a fallacy. There are plenty of agencies out there (non-profits, charities, etc) that will happily accept babies to be adopted. Heck, you can even leave a baby at a police station or fire station. Getting babies adopted usually isn't the issue...it's getting older children adopted that's tough. This idea that there aren't any options other than welfare for unexpected or unwanted babies is untrue. And besides...there is no 'forcing' them to have the kid...again, the law I proposed does not prohibit abortions...merely the State funding such. Nothing that says she couldn't go to a private or charity practice to get a safe abortion. FC -

Personally, I don't think the State (generic government term) should be involved in abortion issues...period. The State should not restrict your choice to continue with a pregnancy or not. But, the State will not help you abort it either. No State funding for clinics, doctors, regulation, etc, that has anything to do with abortion. Any doctor/clinic who receives State funding will not be allowed to perform abortions. You want the responsibility of a choice? You live with the consequences. FC PS I do find it ironic that the folks who tend to push for abortion rights also tend to object to the death penalty for capital crimes. Seems to me an odd contrast...allow terminations for beings who for the majority of cases have done nothing wrong except to exist, vs folks who have damaged society, harmed others deliberately, and do nothing but take up oxygen and resources (unless they become involuntary organ donors....). -

The engine in SF2 is an evolution of the engine in SF1. Things like bump mapping, DX10, etc, are supported in SF2 that are not supported in SF1. Both engines will run in XP/Vista/Win7 with the latest patches (SF1 - Oct 08, SF2 - Feb 10). FC -

Readme for the P-270 for SFP1/WOV/WOE Thanks to the following folks: TK - For the ThirdWire series of sims. Bunyap and Wpnssgt - For the original Weapons Pack. Mustang - For the great video tutorials. To my fellow Combatace moderators - For helping me beta test and work out bugs. Any errors or mistakes are entirely mine. What you will need first: Bunyap's Weapon's Pack - http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=2672 Thirdwire Weapons Editor - http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads_tools.htm Copy of SFP1/WOE/WOV patched to the latest standard (as of 22 Oct 07) Notes and limitations: The Moskit is a LARGE air to ground missile, but is also a ground to ground missile that can be fired off ships. It is known in NATO as the SS-N-22 Sunburn and is used to attack ships. This version is the non-nuclear warhead. The air to ground version is meant to be mounted on the advanced variants of the Flanker family. For that reason I built 2 versions, one with an inbuilt plyon, one without a pylon to be used later in other applications (ships, advanced Flanker releases, etc). It also means that the missile is currently classfied as a EOGR, not a ASM. Because the current Flanker (Su-27) does not have a large centerline pylon, or Anti-Ship capabilities, I added the following to the Su-27_data.ini. Under the [Fuselage] entry I added: SystemName[029]=LargeCenterlineStation Under the // Weapon Stations I added: [LargeCenterlineStation] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=11 StationGroupID=4 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=0.0,-2.7,0.1 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-1.0 LoadLimit=4200 AllowedWeaponClass=EOGR AttachmentType=WP,SOVIET ModelNodeName= PylonMass=86.18 PylonDragArea=0.02 This is sort of a 'Band-aid' to allow you to use the Moskit to attack ground targets, however, you will need to add an Anti-Ship loadout to the loadout.ini AND add the ANTI_SHIP mission to the data.ini to be able to be targeted against ships. You can also make the nuclear version of the missile by changing the warhead yield and effects type, or make new weapondata.ini entries that use the current missile models. Well, I literally did it in 5 minutes by using the SH templates you made there Eric...just cut out everything except the panel lines and rivets, then added a pure white layer underneath. And then used xNormal. Didn't even change the opacity. It was another test that turned out pretty good...and darn convincing, even from the cockpit view. However, Grinch asked eariler and I don't think the sim scales the bump maps like it does the textures because I noticed the bump maps were crushing my system at 2048x2048 which is what you see in the screenshot (I have a relatively old GPU). I think a decent skinner can do much more than I can do. I was thinking about it today when I flying formation and looking at the aircraft I was flying off of, with all the wrinkles in the skin (50 year old T-38) and how a bump map could really bring out that sort of thing. skin help with decal
FastCargo replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
rscsjsuso5, These 3 folks offered you help to help yourself. You refused to help yourself because you cannot be bothered to learn. You have a decision to make. You can learn how to make these decals using the tutorials mentioned, you can learn how to make decals on your own, or you can hope someone sees past your rude behavior to help you. What is not an option is insulting those who tried to help you to help yourself. Be advised that you can straighten up and fly right...or you can leave. FC -

Castering is like the front wheels on a shopping cart..rotating in any direction. Doesn't surprise me you were having problems if that was true on the main gear. Fuel Tank is a simple fix. This is what you have in your weapon station: FuelTankName=Ye-152M Centerline Tank This is what you have in your weapon data.ini: TypeName=Ye-152M_CTANK Now, compare what's in my F-5B weapon stations, and what's in the F-5B fuel tank weapon data.ini. You'll see the problem right away. FC -
