Watched it last night and saw an unexpected new world record set in the pool by some Aussie gals--I can't get bored with that! :D

Roger that Snacky, the sound of the wind drowned out sound from the intense lightning, we did not hear thunder even once over the wind. You could feel the organs inside you vibrating whenever the super-gusts came. Everything vibrated like crazy; doors were the worst, it’s like they were possessed, they rapidly flexed and bowed in and out, and rattled with the most terrifying violence—but seeing the ceiling undulating was almost as bad. My dad used his leather belt straps and wickets from my new cricket set to try and pin the door closed, and twisted the belts around so that the door might not rip away completely from the wall and suck us all out when it went. I took a trip on a DC-9 around 6 months after that cyclone and had the window seat, but I discovered I could hear that same continuous whistling shriek of the cyclone when I put my ear up to the window and it bought back all the unforgettable memories of that day. This one was such a large storm that it was initially given two names (this had not happened before, nor since) because they thought it had to be two separate cyclones in close proximity within the early imagery, so they called it TC SHEILA and TC SOPHIE, but they shorten this down to TC SHEILA-SOPHIE when they realised it was actually just one enormous storm with a cloud mass around 10 degrees of longitude across! (this was all described within the offical storm report--it's not heresay) You can see the path and intensity of it in this official BOM track image of the 1970-71 cyclone season: TC SHEILA-SOPHIE February 1971 925mb:
  6. Falcon 4.0 SP4

I'll include the new Free Falcon 3.0 patch on the disk as well Gator, because there’s no ‘F4 dance’ with this new patch, you install F4 from the original CD then it's just a click-to-install, wait 20 mins for it to finish doing it's thing, setup the config editor, set options in-game, then you’re ready to fly it! I'll also include a new FF3 DivX-codec video and a few other cool videos so that you can see what FF3 looks like before installing. I used to use SP4.1 but this FF3 kicks butt and has removed the 'dance', so its simplicity has won me over; and you'll be amazed how much F4 has been improved since SP3. BTW, there is apparently a new 'realism-feature' in FF3, in that if you over-speed the airframe the Falcon will now break-up in flight, so you have to watch your IAS when running away from opposing interceptors, etc.

I went through a Cat 5.0 in a tiny remote town of Roebourne in Western Australia when I was six years old, and the air pressure was measured at 925 hp near where I lived, so I know what these unfortunate people went through. It was a slow moving and very large storm, so it took around 24 hours for the sustained winds of 120 knots and regularly pulsating 160 knot super-gusts, to pass through. That experience must be about the most terrifying thing a person can live through. What such gusts can do is beyond what the fertile imagination can dream up, and it leaves a permanent impression on you; to this day it sends a distinct shiver and leaves a cold knot in the stomach, whenever I hear one of these horrific storms has made landfall somewhere. I hope the recovery will not be too painful.
  8. Falcon 4.0 SP4

Hey, no worries, BTW, I'm in Queensland Australia, so I'm not sure how long it will take to get to you, but I'll burn it and send it from here Monday.
  9. A political cartoon.

The question that immediately springs to mind is; WHY? and ... umm yeah, ... the colour ... LOL
  10. Bullet Bourban?

Ok, Friday nightI just got a bottle of this stuff, never heard of it before and the net tells me very little about it; not cheap either @ $44 a bottle. Any of you guys familiar with this stuff? Tastes pretty smooth and @ 45% alc, it kicks like a mule! I had one with cola and got immediate buzz on--is this sh*t going to kill me if I have several? LOL
  11. Bullet Bourban?

Wow, that stuff does not muck around LOL, I got a distinct ozone smell from the Logitech z-680s power amp from this one. hehe
  12. Falcon 4.0 SP4

Wow! Yeah, SP4.1 is out, plus FreeFalcon 3.0, I'd be happy to get it to you, but how do you want it sent? I can burn it to CD if you want it through the mail? Cheers!

  16. When Lock On first came out many people complained that the pilots seating position and view was far too low, and that the centre of the HUD should be in the centre of the screen, and that in Lock On you were sitting IN the aircraft, but in the actual F-15C Eagle, you sit ON top of it under a canopy, not sitting deep in it; and this was causing some serious visibility problems such as completely losing sight of the runway surface during ILS approach, the HUD horizon marker did not level with the horizon during low level flight, and this made it hard to judge hight during fast terrain following flights, and the view was much more restricted than the real aircraft view. I found what is causing this problem and how to fix it; it is a setting in the “cockpit.lua” file. This file is in the folder …\UBISoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\Config\View Open it in notepad (back it up first!!) and change the following line from; CockpitVAngleOrigin = -9.5 To; CockpitVAngleOrigin = 0.0 Now save it and start Lock On up and you will find that you sit at the correct height and have a much better and more natural level view of proceedings and you are sitting closer to the top of the canopy.  I suspect this lowered view was put in to help show more of the instruments in F1 view, but it was a bad idea; the proper neutral vertical view angle works much better. Standard Lock On view before at 100 degrees zoom out (focus on bottom of the HUD = poor view) Proper Lock On view after mod at 100 degrees zoom out (focus on HUD centre = excellent view) Standard Lock On view before at 5 degrees zoom in (focus is on the bottom of the HUD) Proper Lock On view after mod at 5 degrees zoom in (focus is on the HUD centre horizon line) BTW, TrackIR seems to work more smoothly with this new neutral viewpoint as well! :D
  17. Why is this not surprising?

LOL, ahhh, but we are all crazy, or else we would not be regularly at each others throats, inter-personally or intra-nationally or inter-nationally. QED ;)
  18. Why is this not surprising?

    Cheers guys. :)
  19. Why is this not surprising?

I think everyone would agree, that guy faking his execution is a freakin cretin, ... but what on earth does that have to do with Kerry? Sorry, I don't see any connection.
  20. Why is this not surprising?

navychief, thanks for your post and I hear what you are saying, and can't really disagree a whole lot, fair enough, but as firehawkordy also said, Bush does not have all the answers either, it seems to me he is going to drive your economy to ruin with that combination of low taxes and phenomenal defense and security budgets; and inevitably there will be a national change of political direction at some point, and the Federal budgets will have to be deeply cut again, and taxes will have to be raised to cover this incredible splurge (it's not just Dems that are blowing your national budget all the time ;) ), and if it is a Dem president which has to do it, then we'll see yet another repeat of the 1990's politics ... with the usual vilification of the people who have to necessarily rein-in the current spending over-reaction, or allow an economic crisis to develop ... seems to me there are no easy answers here. (BTW; oil is a BIG motivator in all this as well, because if the flow is deeply cut or interrupted via regional Islamic militant actions, so is your economic prosperity, so to say that there is no connection between mid-east oil and what is happening combat and security-wise is a thoroughly unconvincing claim--no good fooling ourselves, they are inextricably linked issues)
  21. Why is this not surprising?

Thanks firehawkordy, your words make a lot more sense to me than the other stuff within this thread. We have a current opposition social-democratic type "Labor Party" here in Australia as well, and a national election coming up in about 2 months, or less (it's the Oz variant of the current British Labour party of Tony Blair's), who are likewise distrusted by most of the military, mainly because of their poor economic record, repeated budget deficits, higher taxes and massive commonwealth debt accumulation during their last term in power, and all of that has big implications for military planning, programs and budgets; which really should be sacrosanct from the political football game, but isn't. It's complex, because this quite distrusted quasi-socialist opposition Labor are offering a much more robust airforce between 2010 to 2020 time period, than the much more financially prudent current government which has been making great strides in cleaning up Labors 1980s to mid 1990s economic mess. So yes, I'm sure the situation is likewise very complex in your country's politics as well, I just wish the wilful smearing and disinformation tactics were not being so avidly utilised and repeated all the time, because if Kerry does get into power, the chances are he will do a fairly creditable job, me thinks--at least, many here hope so, because George W. Bush is generally not liked in this country, regardless of how close the alliance between us otherwise is. Most people here would be rather relieved if GWB lost in November, and if Kerry is to be the new guy he doesn't look nearly as bad as GWB from our perspective. Thanks for the thoughtful reply.
  22. Why is this not surprising?

... RUN! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! ,,, the SKY is FALLING! ... the SKY is FALLING!! The tried and true fear-mongering propagandist techniques sure die hard huh? Look guys, I read your links and I think you got this guy all wrong (and apparently it's a wilful deliberate getting of it wrong), read the page linked below in total. I'm not trying to have a spat with any of you 'vets' or old-hands, but I think some of you are tremendously biased and dedicated to believing the worst, regardless of the 'facts' being smeared about, and are just twisting stuff around without a substantial basis for doing so. READ: http://www.snopes.com/politics/kerry/service.asp As the maxim goes; don't believe all that you read--nor should you just read one or two selected 'sources' ... so I read around about this guy, because I really don't know who Kerry is, and I'm only interested because the US president elected has a very big affect on us here in Australia also, so I want to know about his combat record and his 5 medals, and the corroborated combat accounts (rather than just buying into the rabid nonsense getting said about this chap in some of the threads and posts above). So don't take it personally, but I don't appreciate the needless political spin being applied by the anti-Kerry brigade here-in, who would have me believe this guy is a stupid egotistical self-serving louse, when he clearly is not. But besides all that, have a great weekend!

    double post
  24. Kerry's visit to Wendy's

I don't mind who you prefer to vote for, that's not objectionable to me at all, but this is a public international sim/gaming forum, not just the domain of a few rednecks with militant ultra-violent social attitudes. That's what I object to; and no "hey pal" or "here's a newsflash buddy", or other less creditable daft acronyms are going to alter that.
  25. Kerry's visit to Wendy's

No, it's not a troll at all, I am a serious poster, and I don't like what I am reading is all.
