Dangerous shrubbery in Campaign

IT was Roger! And he's a shrubber. Roger the Shrubber. Now I remember. -
Dangerous shrubbery in Campaign
Mr. Lucky replied to Bigfish3's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
We sneakily employed the services of a shrubber. He came with good references from the knights who until recently said 'nee!' Did he do the nice two level effect with a path in between? -

You can fire the guns seperately on the SE5A between the single Vickers and the Lewis. I don't know of any others.

Getting ahead of myself, and this may have been answered already, but when we switch to fighters, how will we avoid losing our hours and kills? Won't we need to start a new pilot or will there be creative editing of the pilot's file going on? Gotta run, the engines' warming up. -
OT What Job do you do?
Mr. Lucky replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Started life after school as an Aviation Electronics Technician in the Navy on F-14's (see my avatar), got out and worked on surgical lasers, then family's heating & air company. Moved on to computer programming and software design, then struck out on my own doing same while working part time as line handler at local airport where I was involved restoring a B17E. About that same time, I got my private pilot's license and tailwheel endorsement and bought my own airplane, a 1946 Taylorcraft BC-12D. Then I moved south and now work as an automation technician at a local Kaolin (white china clay) plant and have my own part time business as a clockmaker. -

Siggy, So far, great idea and job. You too Herr Olham. I do take one exception to your rules. The Map. I disagree with your assertion that navigating with the scenery and real maps is difficult. I find it quite easy and realistic. I do it every mission. Still I would agree that allowing the map is a good choice as everyone doesn't have the experience and training in landmark navigation and/or ded reckoning. -

Are we going to replace our squadrons roster with or add to the roster the names of the pilots from the website? -
Pratice Flight for the upcoming Campagin
Mr. Lucky replied to carrick58's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yes, that engine block does make things a bit difficult, but I found the DFW manageable. But I use TrackIR. I lean to the left on landings and takeoff. I find it easy to grease it in on the field. Also, I have to use the gunsight view combat but always have to try and engage the enemy using right turns to keep him in view. I may map a button on the joystick for it and the compass view as well. I wish I could figure out where it is on the plane. Didn't know it had a bombsight. Last mission, my wingmen, observer and I dispatched 3 Sopwith 1 1/2's and I dropped the bombs I was carrying on a row of planes at a British airfield. Not a bad day for a 2 seater. -

I have a request re pilot's names. If we're going to load them in our roster, I'd have a personal preference that we devise a scheme so we know who that pilot represents. For example, I'd like to know if Olham's in my flight but just having his pilot's name in there, I might not remember who represents whom. I thought about combining the two like nicknames in my case...Johann 'Lucky' Perrmann for example. -

I've been using the mixture historically. Use for those that had it and vice versa -
OT: Real open cockpit expieriance
Mr. Lucky replied to Pappy55's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I have a few hours as pilot in the Stearman PT-17 after earning my tailwheel endorsement. To me,it was like flying a heavy Cub with great visibility. Also flew the Piper Cub with the doors open, feeling great. Prior to that and off topic, my father and I, with our radio control club got to visit the U.S. Air Force Museum after hours with volunteers and got to sit in the P-39, P-38, ME262, B17, B24 and a few others. Also was working on a B17E restoration where I worked part time, so spent a lot of time in that cockpit as well as other places in the plane. -
Even more amazing since they're exactly the same as pictures that have been out since the attack.

I saw Dej had the roster idea before me....great minds think alike. I also had to laugh 'Baldric' for our side? I knew the stupid bit was just an act...he was actually spying for us! I bet he has a cunning plan.... -

More than likely. Though, you know, I favor the Vosges. I had an idea, don't know if it was mentioned. What if we could get a roster and substitute the names in our squadron with those in the roster, and update them daily with results from the web site as to who ended up KIA, MIA, etc. regardless of the outcome on our computers? Might not want to bother with mine, longest I've lasted is 7 days. -

It sounds like a good idea to me too, but many historical days comprised two or three missions. One might be doable for a commitment but not two or three. -

Preface: I'm running OFF on a low end machine (for OFF). I've noticed in the past, any missions flying near the front in April 1917 when there's a lot of activity, start to stutter especially over Arras. We all know this is probably caused by the activity overloading my system. My first mission for 56 Squadron in SE5 April 1917 is patrol behind friendly lines. there were 7 planes in A flight and 6 in B flight. A flight and us separate and about 5 miles south west of Vert Galant, I spot two Alb DV's diving down and order the attack. During the dogfight, I see what appears to be A flight joining in flying a perfect diamond formation. So, here we are in at least a 15 plane dogfight and I'm still getting decent frame rates. Then, just as in real life, suddenly the skies are empty and my wingmen and I head for our assigned sector south of Amiens. close to Amiens, suddenly the sound of artillery fire begins and my frame rates drop to about 2 or 3 for about 1 minute. After that, the frame rates picked back up again as though the sounds and drivers finished loading. therefore, I hope to attribute the drop in FPS at the front to the sound of the guns just as I experienced near Amiens. I just updated my sound card drivers, so I will see what happens next. If anyones has anything to add, such as sound settings, hardware accelleration, etc. my ears are open.

It is a very nimble aircraft. I just wish that stupid face guard wasn't right in the way.

Stability issue with OFF

Might also be a cooling issue either on your CPU or video card. More goes on in campaign than QC. -
Question to our German Friends
Mr. Lucky replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Now that was offensive! When I was in the Navy, we'd have killed for spam at breakfast. We got some kind of mystery meat that no one knew the name for. It was round and sliced but that's about the only resemblance to anything. Probably a Hun trick from WWI to demoralize us. -
Question to our German Friends
Mr. Lucky replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I think I got hit somewhere in there. BTW, I usually fly for Germany and I don't mind being called the dark side. First thing I think of is Star Wars. I need to get the imperial theme in my OFF music.
