So I just DL'd the weapons pack and now the WOV will not load up at all. Anyone else have this happen to them? Is it normal? Is there a fix that does not have me unistalling the program and reinstallling it?

Ok... after reinstalling everything again.... it finnaly loads up... and... Plays LOL. How, exactly, nerve raking is windows? Do you guys think it is safe to attempt the weapons pack now with all the updates and the new Direct X?

Nope, not that either, I just DL'd it as per the third wire websight and it still crashes just the same.

Thought it was already on there... would this keep me from playing the game with the latest patches though?

No dice... tried a full reload and now the Game will start but then gives me this mesaage when it crashes... at mission start... Cannot find d3dx9_28.dll rienstalling program may fix this error.... and I tried reinstall... Same thing... Guess I should've never messed with perfection....

Ok, now I don't get what to do with the "D" download... What file does that go into? The main Program Directory again or what? Also, how do I get the Pheonix Missiles on there?

Well I am on mission 7 without dying once. I have raked up 8 A/A kills and am 1-1 for ground pounding missions. Had to put her down on a friendly strip once due to a "heavy on the burner" fight with three Migs. I have not landed her on a carrier yet... I fly back to the Flat Top and line up the aproach then end the game at about 3/4 of a mile. I still have truble lining up a bandit in my radar scope while flying the F8 somtimes though.... Wonder if the game is glitchy or the early war F-8 radar left much to be desired....?

Ive got a P4 3 Gig with 1 Gig RAM but a crappy stock Integraded Intel Graphics chipset. Whne I run the Game the Graphics are a complete mess, the planes are all Black with no detail, the cockpits a mess with only the extreme corners regestering anything in color. Is it my Graphics card? Or did I need to shut down more programs during the install? Has this happend to anyone else?

So I am playing a campaign in WOV as a Navy F-4 Pilot. Its insane how many SAM sights take shots at you. I keep getting shot down. Any advice for Avoiding them?

I am sure that there is articles about this all over this board, but could someone walk me through how to load up a new plane? What steps are there to this feat? Is there some plane files that are easier then others to set up? If so what ones? Pretend I am a chimpanzee that speaks only basic English and his only computer skills revolve around pasting sticks with his dung to the tower and screen when describing this ;-) If you are brave enough to respond to this be prepared to be asked stupid questions as I am from the “The only stupid questions are the ones not asked” school of thought.

Well it handles WoV on max settings on the highest res with no problems and it looks incredible doing it. I figured I would at least be able to fart around with LOMAC.

I'll try all this, but damn is thee alot of SAM's in the Nam. And I do not like dumbing things down to make it easier by changing the files settings, feels like cheating.

So last night I start in on a mission flying the F-105 Thunderchief with one wingman and a flight of four other planes. We All take 6 750's for pounding the ground, and 2 Sidewinders in case things get a little Mig happy, and things always do and it is nice to be able to fight back. So we approach the target and as I start to set up my pass over the rail bridge in question I “release the hounds” on ground targets. Out of the 6 ‘105's I started with only 2 land (including me). What gives? Should I not release them so soon? Not let them go at all? Tell them to stay home cause if they go they will die? Also how do you target things like a bridge or a warehouse or a landing strip? Cause all I seem to be able to target is the AAA and Sam sites. Also dive bombing is getting a little old and trying to pick up altitude for the dive is both fuel consuming and makes me a sitting duck. Any advice on level bombing? I was used to Janes: F-15 were I had both a good view, and a bomb sight in my HUD.

WHAT!?! Now where is the fun in that?

Ahhhh I'll try the Ctrl-R thing. I know it cycles but it never seems to cycle onto the target I want. Danke ;)

But I already do the e & Shift+E thing. I cannot seem to get the objective (i.e. railbridge) targeted. Only the things around it.

Thanks for the advice bro. How do I target the objective for my wingman to hit it? I cannot seem to place brakets on it so I can't use the "Attack my target" feature. I know 105's are not the greatest dog fighters out there, but they do have a fare amount of "go" especially when compaired to Mig's and can outrun them. if you overshoot them. But it looks like I will be practicing my dive approach as it is hardly refined. But thats what is great about this game as opposed to F/A 18 and F-15... the planes don't fight for you. Also, are you an SP? Cause my dad was when he was in the Airforce. Matter of fact my whole family is Airforce.

... this "LOMAC" is but what does it take to run it looking good? I have P4 3 Ghz and 1 gig of ram and a s**tty stock dell graphics card. Will this machine run it if I had a better card?

I just picked this up after becomming frustrated with my old copy of Flanker 2.0. It will not run correct on my current system no matter what I do. To quench my thirst for flight combat I went looking for a "new" game. New enough to run well on W/2000 but old enough to look smoke'n on my Computer (W/2000 P4 3Ghz CPU, 1G Ram, Stock video card (Whatever Dell uses). I stubled across this game ($20.00) and to my suprize it is a sweet ass game. These Vietnam fighters are like old Muscle cars... RAW POWER, little in the way of refinments. Not alot in the way of "the electronic frontier" either. Add to the fact that I love F-4 Phantoms (they look like somthing out of a Sci-Fi movie). I thin this game captures the pain in the ass nature of 60's target identification nicley, have to get into visual range first and then make out what it is before shooting... unless you cheat of course. It is a nice plus that there are so many "aftermarket planes" availible for it too. Anyways good hunting!
