By this point and time in America, taking gun-related stuff to school, would be taken to be "NOT SMART", by the general population. It's like trying to take bomb-related stuff onto an airplane. And as a general rule, the NOT SMART, tend to locate all the land mines.

ATI 9600 1 GB RAM Windows XP Pro SP2 WOV p071006 My game is very smooth and enjoyable on my system, but if stalling or stuttering is truely your issue, here is a list of settings I have made on my game. Please note that I have not upgraded past WOV p071006. Thanks for the advise. Actually last summer I began work on a modified Israel 1.4 terrain that I use often. I developed a small Yom Kippur campaign to go with it. This year I have been slowly modifying the Israel 2 terrain to my liking, but I haven't had a lot of time with it yet. -
I think history has proven time and time again, that civil authorities take it upon themselves to enslave others that are poorly protected. The purpose of this enslavement is the enrichment of the civil government itself, any derived benefits that reach the general population notwithstanding. This modus operandus can explain modern societies as well. The planet was deemed "too crowded" even in the time of Julius Ceasar. Genocide is politically not reasonable, leaving enslavement the only practical alternative.

Well, thats a very good point. In my own case, I know my computer will not drive WOI. But I have been thinking that I might buy it for the terrain only, if I could figure out in advance if I could "import" it somehow to WOE. I'll bet the targets file specifies some objects that WOE doesn't have, but I might be able to work around that. At this point I am not sure if there would be other issues, and up to now, I haven't been trying to do any research. Also, I haven't seen a lot of screenshots of the WOI terrain for some reason. Anyone have any links? I would like to add, that in my case, I found WOV/WOE to be artistically excellent. I was lucky and I was able to modify the WOV menus to work on my 1360 x 768 wide screen, plus make some really cool (screenshot based) hangar screens and stuff that I really like. In the end, with all my mods and a few "Stwa" addon terrains, this game became, in my opinion, the best ever. I have been doing combat sims since 1992 or so. -

Perhaps, but from my perspective, if nothing else changed beyond WOE (forget FE and WOI), I would be happy for a long time. All I am mostly interested in at this point is additional theatres, that are done consistently and requireing basically the same objects sets contained in the stock SFP1, WOV, WOE games. -

I have tried all of these fin terrains .... and they all have very strong points and much to recommend, but here are my comments ... --Deuces, I concur with your comments, but I find some of the colors grate my senses like pulling your nails across a blackboard, so it is not used anymore. --Max188, I concur with your comments, but I don't understand the bluring, so it is used occassionally. --Brain32, I concur with your comments, but eventually the repetition wears you down, so it is not used anymore. --TW, I like pale especially from high altitude, doesn't seem yellow to me, so I use this most often. -

I NEVER used my Sparrows, because I kept "clearing" Cdr Albirght's tail. NOTE my poor gunnery, and NO keels. -

1. Well, OK, I decided to take the entire squad up for a fighter sweep. (see screenie) 2. Looks like plenty of the #2 doods engaged with their AIM-7E Sparrows. 3. Actually, we really gang banged the enemas. We hit em with a little bit of everything. 4. Now there is no way for me to conclusively prove that these keels were BVR (beyond visual range?). 5. But I am fairly certain that most of the keels were BNR (beyond NOOB range!). 6. I never saw anyone use the AIM-120C, so I will keep trying to find it. -

Hi dood, 1. I don't know about the AIM-120C. I looked all over WOE but couldn't find it. 2. I did find the AIM-7E Sparrow. Looks like you get them with the F4's. 3. I flew a quick mission. See debrief screen. NOTE the WINGMAN #2 attacks with his Sparrows. 4. To do this get a visual target at about 5 miles or so and order your wingman to attack it. Its a no-brainer. 5. Or get a radar target. Hit <Ctrl R> to verify its an enemy. Then order your wingman to attack it. Its a no-brainer. 6. NOTE the wingie got the "keel" as well. 7. Now, I can go on and try some of the pure AI groups and see if they will do it do... :yes: -

I hear this a lot, and about once or twice a year I join a thread like this. I am not saying your theory is incorrect, but for some reason I see wingmen engage and get kills all the time. My game is WOE based. I don't really save a lot of the screenies, but here is a recent example, that at least illustrates that the wingmen in a flight did engage something, or they are just firing missles for the fun of it. -

Nice article... Your #1 is generally good advise (no matter what aircraft you are flying) if you must get in close with the 17's. The AI pilots generally don't respond as well to an attack from above. Plus it's easier to get on their tail at the critical moment. Your #3 is my preferred tactic, especially when engaging frustrating pesky MiG 17's, 19's. With self dicipline you can get your 4 kills (using Sparrows) and then RTB. Only your wingmen become a liability because they don't seem to grasp this tactic to the extent that they should. So, if I am really worried about the wingman, I simply send them home. Now the odds are 10-1, but since then enemy planes don't have Sparrows, its not really that bleak. You get your 4 kills and then scoot. Score 4-0. Not bad. -
I was born and raised mainly in South Texas, but I spent a winter in St. Louis on a software contract back in the 70's. :yes: I noticed as the winter drug on and on the "ordinary people" in the office were becoming more and more agitated. I remember two people in particular who began answering their phones with some choice explatives and they began drinking excessive amounts of coffee. Eventaully I checked my office door for a lock, and was happy to find there was one.

SVGA Air Warrior. I am pretty sure I got this at CompUSA around the '92 time frame. You played on-line using the GENIE service. It cost about $3.00/hour to play. It was so addictive you could rack up a mortgage payment in a month EASY. You flew in a virtual arena with as many as 75-100 other people. There would be 3 countries, and each pilot belonged to one country. You would fly wing with your buddies, and patrol the enemy countries for victims. It was the greatest team sport any adult could participate in. There were no collisions, and a slight to moderate network lag, so the main tactic was to approach an unaware enemy aircraft from the rear and "fly through him shooting". Once past, you could look in your rear view mirror and watch the enemy plane explode, for conformation of your kill, or "keel", as we called them then.

One thing I have always wondered about was the 3d engine and who actually held the source code to that. For WOV and WOE, I thought this to be Destineer, but are they still around anymore. I can't tell. Hopefully, TK is able to make mods to the 3d engine itself, so it can adapt to new operating systems like Vista, or what ever is required. If not, his best bet is to keep churning out other theaters. Currently I have the following maps/terrains on my WOE game with multiple campaigns... Germany Vietnam Israel Falkland Islands Bering Strait This covers a lot of the cold war hot spots, except one, Korea? So I would anticipate a game about Korea as the next jet game release. -

I think you can do that in WOE, but you have to build a mission with an editor like KMD, and then use the Load Mission option. The Create Mission option doesn't provide for carriers.
