  1. guys......fairwell for now

Good luck getting things squared away!
  2. Made a whole post but my comp screwed it up so here is the summary. F-111F in my WOE can't load Pave Tack and so LGBs are useless. Never had problem with A-10s last year in basic setup. Yes, i've done CTRL-O out of curiousity. BTW... A-7 in 79 campaign can't load drop tanks. (Unless i'm so totally clueless i must have missed something simple) Hints anyone?
  3. LGB trouble

I think i know where i'm messing up. It's something along the lines of "Too high, too fast" ordnance delivery.
  4. LGB trouble

Ok, looks like it's back to the Range to see if i can figure this out.
  5. I was wrong about American beer

As someone who spent a good part of the 90s quaffing pure ghetto/barrio/slum/whatever juice(Liquid Crack as it used to be called), i might advise that you take such products such as Camo, Steel Reserve, ST Ides, Magnum, or King Cobra with a bit of caution.
  6. Well This is Just Dumb

There's been a few "honor killings" in the US in the past decade or so. Usually the guilty parties are serving rather stiff sentences.
  7. Wingman

As far as i'm concerned, it might just come down to what aircraft your squadron is flying. My all time favorite wingman was in an F-15 during the 79 campaign and he got about 36 kills before he was shot down himself and killed himself. Only once in that campaign did someone crash and it was a pretty vicious low level fight IIRC.
  8. Wingman

I had a real winner a few minutes ago. Took off into a new campaign flying CF-5As in 79. Did my usual and made the first mission a maximum effort. Over the target area everyone goes after Migs while me and #2 bomb a warehouse. No fewer than 3 of of the squadron crashed during the fight. Good thing i got riddled and punched out after shooting up a Straight Flush or i would have been really ticked off after landing back at base.
  9. WAY too close for comfort!
  10. Wingman

Sometimes it might just be carelessness rather than incompetence. Here is one of the more recent own goals in my squadron, thankfully the pilot got out of this one unscathed. It was our only loss on a highly successful mission.
  11. Hugo Chavez

As a fellow Latino i would remind him that he is not much different from the usual types that have infested Latin America for generations. I would emphasize the population loss his country would suffer if he kept going along the path of ol' Fidel and how it would come back to bite his followers in the *** when future exiles return after the eventual collapse of the "Workers Paradise" to return a favor.
  12. Wingman

I had some guy in a F-4 squadron who crashed during a CAS mission, downed a fellow squadron mate with a CBU in another CAS, and finally shot me down me with an AIM-9 during a dogfight. Sometimes those flying Gomer Pyles can survive everything and anything just long enough to put you away for good.
  13. Wingman

Ocasionally you will get certain pilots who are more of a danger to themselves than the enemy. Once you find out who they are, never give them an important job or role.
  14. Drop the tanks on a Javelin and you'll quickly develop the skills needed for fighting with one eye on your fuel gauge.
  15. While flying a Javelin a few minutes ago i had a somewhat similar situation... After succesfully intercepting an incoming strike i took the survivors up to altitude where i thought we would be safe. Lo and behold, on the exact path on the way home is a Yank RB-66 being chased by a Mig-21. Well, after making sure everyone else was safe and sending them on home i dove down and began chasing the MIG. slowly but surely the range closed and about .08 of a mile i began trying to get him with short burst of 30mm but no joy. finally i had him right where i wanted and AAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! OUT OF AMMO! :fuk: At that moment i remembered this thread and knew what to do. As i flew over and slightly ahead of the MIG i ejected and hoped for the best. It worked! but my pilot was killed All in all i still think it was worth the sacrifice.
  16. To me at least, the Hun always had notoriously lousy accelleration. If chasing after a target that's straight and level, a low speed yo yo is usually the way to go.
  17. You might be doing something seriously wrong because even in the worst of scenarios radar guided missles can score more often than not.
  18. Damage Sounds

Depending on what other loud sounds are occuring around the aircraft, you should be able to hear certain hits. Remember that in real life aircraft would be often be hit and the pilot completely unaware of it occuring.
  19. The last time something similar happened, it was due to a dying hard drive. This time the comp is just fine. For some reason, WOE crashes whenever i try to continue with a certain campaign. It's only been 20 sorties but it's been great and i really would like to see it to the end. Anyone know what causes it or how i can get around this problem? Currently using WOE patched all the way and running NF4
  20. I agree about the difficulty in intercepting F-105s. Unless you make a near flawless approach, you will never get them.
  21. This might be a bit out of bounds but it's the truth. In the WOE 62 campaign, my greatest worry is intercepting IL-28s. Let's be for real, AIM-9Bs are not that all reliable and the Iron Beagle can take a whole lot of punishment without going down. The tail gunners are icing on the cake. Bad enough the missles rarely cause a kill, but having to close in with a gunner there waiting for you is just not the walk in the park you they teach you.
  22. Better late than never!
  23. Know Your Aircraft...

I wish you had told my Eagle squadron that. Even though we tore the throat out of Ivan countless times, we had about 60% casualties when all was said and done
  24. As i stated before in another thread, my main concern is the MIG-19. The 17 can be a real threat but you can still outfly it if you really know your aircraft. Outrolling and outclimbing it to high altitude is my usual way to deal with one. Once there you can usually count on easily outrunning it. The MIG-19 though, is a much harder proposition. Getting the needed separation is a real pain. You can't simply open up the throttle and voila! The the 19 is just as fast as most high performance aircraft of the 60s and has an astonishing acceleration and climb rate. 3x30mm guns also means it's a real threat anywhere within .8 of a mile of you. 21s are more or less harmless unless they catch you by surprise.
