Pilot KIA, but plane fine?
Lt. James Cater replied to i fight by 1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Could have taken a direct hit to your cockpit area? I've been wounded by by AAA with only minor damge to the aircraft so perhaps something like that happened to you. BTW-The red thing you saw coming towards you? Sounds like a tracer round. You'll know when it's a missle. You said there were a few MIGs left, maybe someone got lucky. -
Is adding aircraft suppose to be dificult?

Don't know what to say, only ever failed with a single plane (Daves' RF101) Do you mean single mission? Or for a campaign? -

I wouldn't doubt if the Police had a few cars specially tuned for certain roles and conditions. In Michigan they actually have Corvettes and i've heard of another state that uses Vipers I remember talking to a Cop in New Jersey who was in a high speed pursuit driving a Ford Crown Victoria chasing a Ferrari. He said that four of them stayed on the Ferrais' tail until the guy made a mistake and they rammed him right into a concrete lane divider. In NJ the Police cars had metal reinforcements on the front to help push dead vehicles off of busy roads and so the gear amounts to a real battering ram. Crown Vics are also seriously bricklike in their construction and so the Ferrari was left beyond repair.

Something tells me that we are going to be seeing more of this. The tension is getting to where some people are reaching their cracking point.

Awesome stuff! This will really make for a SAM dodging affair! -
Here in Nevada, certain trained highway patrolmen drive race capable Mustangs and Camaros. Good luck getting away from them!

How these movies actually made money still leaves me wondering.

What should you do when you catch fire?
Lt. James Cater replied to i fight by 1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
When everything is said and done you have two choices. 1-Punch out 2-like the Navy pukes say.."Shut up and die like an Aviator". -
Flak in WoV
Lt. James Cater replied to SandyC's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Just out of a WOV mission and feel somewhat indifferent. Had a flight of Intruders on an armed recce in the Than Hoa area and destroyed a truck convoy despite flak thick enough to walk on. After a while, it was no different than testing on the Range. -

My only problem with that solution is that you have to have the Weapons pack. I've seen so many posts concerning hassles that i have never even thought of getting it. -

As far as flying Thuds, i prefer historical altitudes but not the routes. About the only real one i do is Yen Bai-Thud Ridge-Hanoi-Red River. A true white knuckle experience! All things considered, flying these sims the way most of here do would have gotten us court martialed in real life. -
I played the WIC demo a million times. Guess i ought to add some more memory to my comp and go for it.

I'd start off with TACAIR, then follow it up at least an hours worth of Arty before sending in at the very minimum, a battalion of Mechanized Infantry supported by whatever Armored and Fire support they can get!!! -

I agree. Going over Hanoi in in perfectly clear weather, flying straight and level should provoke clouds of flak bursts ala Berlin during WW2. -

Just happened to have the "F-105 Thunderchief In Action" book next to my comp. In it it says that 321 Thuds were lost in action. 111 in 1966. AAA got 280, SAMs-24, MIGs-17. Guess that shows just how bad the flak was! -

There's been a few threads concerning this before. Also, from everything i've ever seen and researched, the 85mm was pretty deadly. For the life of me i just can't remember at the moment, but someone a few months ago came up with some changes that he reported mades a big difference for his game. BTW, i was about to start a thread about this very same thing and wanted to know if ini changes are immideate (sic) or do i have to start everything from scratch again. -
For the life of me, i can't update the drivers for the stock drive on my E-machines so i'm thinking about going with an external drive. However, i know nothing about them except what they do. So i figured i'd ask here as part of my research Any info?
