  1. On The Road Again...

I'm on the move again. just spent a little over 7 months in North Jersey and it's back to Las Vegas. I really liked where i was at since the old neighborhood is now a pretty nice place and NYC and the USS Intrepid was right across the river. The downside is that rents are sky high, good jobs are scarce unless you have a specialty or have a hookup, and the place is overun with illegals that the politicians that favor over their own citizens. Check into a motel for a few days to straighten things out in my storage unit and update certain official cards and paperwork. Then it's salvation army rent a bed and checking out who has the contracts for convention custodial work. Then it's building up a bankroll and getting things together again.
  2. On The Road Again...

Thanks! Well, i've been here for a week already and seen my primary job hopes vanish after making trips around to the various convention centers we have here. Looks like i'm getting back into Culinary union and back to waiting to be sent out for applications and interviews. Good thing at least is that i have multiple state ids now and so am simply denying that i have any prior hotel experience in Las Vegas at any interviews. Not only will it increase my chances at getting hired, it'll mean less pressure at first since i'll be treated as a trainee rather than someone who has a lot of experience and has been around at different hotels. One weeks worth of work and i have an apartment since the rents around here are really cheap. The best are in neighborhoods that used to be crack infested cesspools. They're all cleaned up and quiet now and they rent cheap since the drug dealers, hookers and other such street trash are long gone. The future looks bright!

  7. Lost not one, but TWO pilots lost to mid air collisions. Mears was lost along with his wingman at the IP on a mission to the Berlin area and Joseph Peterson-444 Squadron RCAF was lost when the MIG17 he had just blown the wing off of, rolled and hit his plane as it was passing. Better luck next time i guess.
  8. Things thve been so hectic that it is only now that i can write things up. http://combatace.com/gallery/image/23334-roster/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/23335-clipboard-1/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/23336-clipboardh2/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/23337-clipboardh3/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/23338-clipboardh4/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/23340-clipboard-h5/ The losses were due to stupidity of the most basic kind. 2LT Stephen Richter was shot down egressing from the Plauen mission. We made multiple passes after missing the primary and stayed just a bit to long. A big fight was going on in the area and instead of heading out at low level, we climbed out and that was all she wrote after a MIG17 got in behind him. 2LT Norman Sterling Was killed after i made a grave error. Once again we stayed a bit too long and had MIG right on our tails all the way back across the river. He was down low while i took the a stubborn Mig17 up high and down a few times. Getting low on fuel i made a very costly mistake. Heading back down, i actually took the MIG (Which had little chance of getting me) behind Sterling and so the foe promptly disregarded me and shot down Norman, who was in the pattern at the time. The Stendal mission was a doozy. Went up with CAPT Curtis Buttell armed with a pair of MK24s each. The run in and attack was textbook. The action was on the outbound leg. I had decided to carry a pair of AIM9s to see if by chance anything could be attacked on the way home. About halfway back we had our chance. I had been monitoring the radio and keeping a close wach on the radar so i knew that there was activity ahead. Mainly friendlies heading southwest with Migs in pursuit. Once i had some about 20 miles ahead i checked fuel, sent Curtis home, and turned to chase them down. It took about 25 miles but i got a good lock on something (having boresited the radar) Since i came down from 20,000 in burner i had a good head of steam and soon detected a pair of MIG17s in trail after a Hun. By that time i was lower than i wanted but was closing to quick to get fancy. Getting a tone with a sidewinder, i let fly even though i knew it wasn't the best setup. So in that instant i set up for guns as i was closing in fast. The Mig broke left then started back right as came in and let loose from his 5 low at about 400 meters at 9500ft His tail came off and scratch one MIG! By then fuel was becoming an issue so it was back up to altitude and home. That was where the next happening occured. A few minutes later something that i was following on radar turned into the worst possible nightmare. A pair of MIG 19s coming from 10 high! I did what i could but they were on to me and would not give up no matter how many times i took the from the treetops to 25,000ft. Knowing my fuel state i knew i would have to bail out and was just looking for the right spot to get out when they turned away back towards the river. I slammed the throttles forward, pointed the nose up and in the direction of the nearest strip and jettisoned anything external. Maybe 10 seconds later i was out of fuel but all was in control (i prayed). It's something you think about but never expect to have to do, a dead stick landing away from home. Well, i got the centerline and rode it on down considering the Thud is not much of a glider. Even then, i made sure not to overshoot and so used up most of the runway just to make sure the speed was sufficient for the task. http://combatace.com/gallery/image/23341-img00791/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/23342-img00794/ What a hell of a war!

  18. Glad to have been some help! You can go up and fly all you want over North Vietnam but if you want to come out alive it takes some thought and preparation. The following concerned WOE but it should of use for WOV. Your wingman is of more value than you are Never enter a fight unless you're sure about how to get out of it. Speed is life only if you have enough fuel. All things considered, forget about turning with MIGs Maximum range for guns should be no more than 400 meters. Egress should be plotted as carefully as the ingress. Point blank + short burst = sure kill. Every aircraft has certain traits that can keep you alive. Learn them. Look for nearby fights to get some surprise kills. Think offensively even if you are at a disadvantage. When in doubt, go home.
  19. We lost Newkirk aka Richard Dawson

Damn. I remember when i first saw Family Feud in it's pilot run when i was a kid. My first thought on seeing Richard Dawson was "Oh cool, it's Newkirk from Hogans' Heroes!" He was really funny and his accent was to die for. He was also great in "The Running Man"
  20. I'm finally flying again. Have done one mission in WOE and will do another before writing them up. DID IS BACK!!!! Have five missions done in a Thud WOE! Game On!
  21. Finally got things settled enough to get back in the air but it seems like somehow i must have messed something up so i want to start from scrath again I'm going fresh install and i know i'll be ending up with WOV GOLD and it's expansions. it's been years since i've done it and my setup file is on an external HD that i have yet to find. I don't want to screw things up. Any hints?
  22. Back Home....Finally

    Welcome back!
  23. Since IL46 is the subject i figured i'd ask here.... How much patching do the IL series require? I had IL2 for a while but last flew it in 2004. The patching issue has kept me away from it ever since but i really want to pick up the whole series.
  24. Which (Non-Sims) are you playing?

Got back into Rome: Total War and am currently doing Turbo Limit Hold'em. Am also looking for a good internet poker site. Edit: Forgot to mention the first three Combat Mission games!
