So what do you fly?
MigHound replied to serverandenforcer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
With 260 birds in my WOE installation, it's tough to pick, just one aircraft. I'd have to say, my favourite all around American "do-it-all, everything" jet would have to be Dels' F-23A Black Widow II. That bird should have been elected winner of the ATF competition on, just on looks, alone. But, hey, what do I know. I have been in love with the Tornado, for as long as it has been in service, in Euro forces. Amokfloo's IDS model, is a great bird for the ground pounder missions, as is Dave's F-15E/I/K series. But... as I say there are nearly a couple dozen others, I like to play with. -
F/A-18F
MigHound replied to Erwin_Hans's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
I actually sorted it out. It seems Bunyap's pack has set AIM-9S-X for USAF use only, so, I set the F/A-18F datafile to read the aircraft as USAF, instead of USN. -

Wow!!! Amazing aircraft. Nicely done, thank you. One question, though. I've noted in this plane and a couple other recent aircraft, after year 2000, the only AIM-9 model is the AIM-9P. Looking at the loadout file, the plane is supposedly able to carry AIM-9X. Are you using a more recent version of weapons pack than "Weapons Pack: 03 July 2006"? If so, which one? Please help... and thanks again. I tried adding one of the more recent Mirage Factory Weapons packs, and it caused a number of problems, like weapons loadouts not appearing on the plane, and inventory getting jumbled. I ended up re-installing WOE and just using the older Weapons Pack: 03 July 2006, and left it alone. -

I might have missed something, but the LOD files are not included in the package. But, in the end I look forward to playing with this bird, in WOE. -

Yeah, I get a CTD, too... mind you I'm using Wings Over Europe. Is there something in the avionics, I should be aware of, that is WOI exclusive that I need to remove from an ini file??? Pretty bird, though. Can't wait to fly her. -

Do you have a single or multi core processor?
MigHound replied to samtheeagle's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
AMD Dual Core Thing is blisteringly fast. I researched and hand picked the components, myself. I made a damned good choice on the motherboard. She has a dual core in her, now. She's capable of taking a quad core, if I chose. complete specs are below. -

Your first combat flight sim...
MigHound replied to Gunrunner's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
Oh man, I played the snot out of Jane's ATF, when it first came out. It was such a well rounded 'bang for your buck', game. A good thing, too... I paid a lot of bucks for it... nearly $80.00CAD. -
Cool: guide a Maverick from your laptop!
MigHound replied to tflash's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I knew it!! Useless crap. I tried launching my shiny new Maverick with my laptop, and I got a blue screen of death!! Figures there'd be a compatibility problem with friggin' Windows. -
How to make the game better
MigHound replied to markkyle66's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You know... come to think of it... Just mulling through the sounds directory I've found sounds that I never actually hear in the game. For example there are RWR sounds specific to either MiGs or SAMs. example.. (MiGTrack.wav) (MiGLock.wav) / (SAMTrack.wav) (SAMLock.WAV) Does anyone have any suggestions what the correct entries would be, into which ini files to get these sounds working? Thanks -

F-15E Strike Eagle -THE IDOLMASTER CHIHAYA-
MigHound replied to kei nagase's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Oh!! I know, I know!!! You should do a paint scheme for the "Dirty Pair". Just one glimpse, on both sides, of that should guarantee an evac of the whole combat zone. You could even do it, so you have Yuri on one skin and Kei on another skin, so lead and wingman have their own unique paint jobs. -

EF-2000
MigHound replied to Fubar512's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Is there no weapndata.ini for the Meteor missile to be imported to the primary weapondata.ini file? It'd make the process a lot simpler. I'm also finding it difficult to figure out how to make this work. Then again, I haven't had my coffee, yet. -

Soviet A2A Missile Weapons Pack Project
MigHound replied to kukulino's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
It's most likely, the majority of you folks realize this, but, I feel the need to point out. The components within the game engine are very date and era specific, and also aircraft model specific. For example, the RS-2U Alkali-A was procured in the '50s, whereas the R-73M1 Archer is a relatively new missile type. (early generation MiG-21s will not carry R-73s) When I first started to mod Wings Over Europe, I noted, most specifically, the first release of the MiG-25P, the aircraft was always flying empty when I encountered them in the air, thus making it nothing more than a turkey shoot. Not very challenging, right? I began to compare it's loadout.ini file vs those of the stock aircraft and noted one distinct difference. All stock soviet aircraft had loadouts with missiles under the "R" designation. (eg. R-3R Atoll) Many modders aircraft submissions had their loadouts with the "AA" designation. (eg. AA-2 Atoll) I don't think the game knows to look for this designation. Any aircraft with this "AA" designation in the loadout.ini will appear empty, when under AI control. I had to go in and change the loadouts for some 12 aircraft, so that they would have "something" to fire at me. As I researched the material on soviet aircraft and their loadouts throughout the cold war, I began to compile a small list of missiles, their type, (IRM / SAHM / AHM) their service records, specifically, when they were in use, and what aircraft on which they were deployed. Here is a list of what I have put together, so far. It's not perfect, but it's a start. Feel free to point out mistakes and update accordingly on this thread. This will allow those of you with this problem to change the loadouts to the proper "R" designations. RS-2U = AA-1A Alkali IRM (MiG-17/19) small RS-2US = AA-1B Alkali IRM (MiG-17/19) small R-3R = AA-2 Atoll SAHM (MiG-21) Large R-3S = AA-2 Atoll IRM (MiG-21) R-4M = AA-5 Ash (SU-11/15, Yak-28) R-8MR = AA-3C Anab (SU-11/15, Yak-28) R-8MT = AA-3D Anab (SU-11/15, Yak-28) R-13M = AA-2 Atoll IRM (MiG-21) small R-23R = AA-7A Apex SAHM (MiG-23) Large R-23T = AA-7B Apex IRM (MiG-23) Large R-27ER = AA-10 Alamo SAHM (MiG-29) R-27R = AA-10 Alamo SAHM (MiG-29) R-40T = AA-6 Acrid (MiG-25) R-60T = AA-8 Aphid IRM (MiG-21/23/25/27, SU-15/17) R-73M = AA-11 Archer IRM (MiG-29) small R-77 = AA-12 Adder AHM (MiG-29) Large R-98 = AA-3 Anab (Su-15) Large I hope this is helpful. Again, please feel free to chastise, ridicule and shun me for any mistakes and post the corrections on this thread. -
Just for sheer hilarity... I am curious if someone in the Skinners dept would like to create a lo-vis RCAF skin for the F-23A Black Widow II. for specifics, make it indigenous to the 410th TFS out a Cold Lake Alberta. Thanks
