Bombers VS Fighters
ST0RM replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'm an attack guy also. Especially if it's dual role capable. Being able to run in at low level and take out a target, then pop back up and mix it up with some fighters is a great mission. F-105s in any Vietnam campaign, F/A-18s or the A-10 for modern. Maybe even the Tornado over on the Euro side. Storm -
Slacker!! That is no excuse. A good photog always has his gear. ;) Caught this coming in yesterday and departing under some nasty weather this morning. VFA-32 Swordsman F/A-18F (166665 AC204) Storm

Il-2/Luft 46 package
ST0RM posted a topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
Hey all, Just got home from another desert deployment and picked up the Luft 46 package as my welcome home gift. Is this ready to go or has there been a patch released for it already? How is the install? Pretty straight forward? I have everything up to point now, but figured an all in one set must be better and smaller. I plan on a complete fresh install as well. Thanks! Storm -

Il-2/Luft 46 package
ST0RM replied to ST0RM's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
I did the same thing, but I'm not 100% sure it has the Pe-2 or other payware add-ons. I'll have to hunt for the patch though. Was the Pe-2 the only payware aircraft added or did the later patches give a few more? Off to hunt for the 4.08 patch now. Storm -
Any idea why this would happen?
ST0RM posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've installed a fresh install of SF:P1 and patched it up the most current. It's located in a secondary internal hard drive. I've removed everything in it that I dont need, as I've created a Top Gun only installation with nothing but Adversary and USN aircraft. Everything was working fine last night, as I checked to ensure the game started after each time I added something new. However, when I went and updated each of the gundata and weaponsdata ini files, the flightsim.exe would not work any longer. It would simply go to a black screen briefly and then go back to the desktop. Sooo, something is defiantely not right with the editors. Because I could not get them to work properly, I had to place them in the main hard drive and map the ini files from there. Could that have something to do with it? I'm pretty frustrated at the moment as I spent 4 hours last night, getting everything loaded correctly. BTW, I am patched up to the current DX9 and have the d3dx9_28.dll in the folder just in case. Those Nikes will ruin someone's day. Nice work gents! Storm -
I've heard of this happening from both RAF and USAFE pilots during my time at Ramstein. It does happen, but as USAFMTL said, the USAF isnt allowed to jump into a fight, due to safety restrictions. However, I'm sure that it does happen and not reported. I do remember back during my Combat Talon days and we were out over the Salt Lake ranges and we got jumped by a pair of Vipers from Hill AFB. Our EWO lit them up pretty quick and we were left alone for the rest of the mission. Lastly, beating a heavy F-15E isnt a huge feat. Especially if they dont know that it's "Fights On". Storm

Great news for Stockton! My Dad is in nearby Manteca and I'll be thrilled to spend my money in a town that actually wants a good museum. Somehow SF seems to forget that it was a FAG that caused the turret to explode aboard the Iowa, in the first place. Storm

Nice looking office Chief. I cant wait to get back to the States and into a house of my own again. I plan on taking the basement as my own and doing something similiar. Storm

Looks like I'll be making a trip to Chicago in the next year or so. ;) Storm

Bob, Anyway you can do something similiar to your Eagle edit shot? I'm looking for a 58th FS machine tailcode EG, blue Gorillas tailband, with the # 021. Thanks! Storm

Oh yea. Perfect! Now, that has become my background. BTW, I used to work on that jet at Eglin and it's pilot (name on the canopy) is a very good friend of mine. Kind of the reason I wanted it. If we had a D-model, (I wish) I'd ask for 80-0058 as it was the jet I flew in. :) Storm

I'm diggin your screens. I've got multiple installs of SF:P1 based upon maps and campaigns. Would it be possible for you to come up with a Desert Storm era main screen? Right now, thats the only one I'm lacking. Thanks! Storm

[Q] Squadron Supply Quantity during a campaign ?
ST0RM replied to ptitmataf's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
That is the initial quantity that you start the campaign with. Storm -
Thats now my desktop background. Thanks! Storm

Great stuff! IIRC, that was a replication of Gunther Rall's flight where he lost his thumb. Storm

Neat idea. I like the duel monitors, but that flight yoke has to go. Storm
