These carrots were dangled in front of our noses months ago, only to fade away since. Much like the update for the Albatros DV cockpit that never came, even though TK actually altered the DV in a patch to accept the updated cockpit we were told was coming.

I can, and do. Constructive criticism is a *good* thing. That's how one learns. A definition of learning is "a change in behavior as the result of experience"--i.e., making mistakes is a large part of how we learn. Mindless criticism--e.g., "your work sucks, you loser"--is not a good thing, inasmuch as there's no positive influence. However, personality dictates how that sort of criticism is received. If someone said "your work sucks, you loser" to me--and I spent my youth in touring rock bands so I heard a lot of negative comments like that--it'd be water off a duck's back. I know if something I do is good or bad; I needn't any external validation. Anytime you place yourself or your work in front of the public you must be prepared to endure criticism, either the positive or the negative kind. Rightly or wrongly, that's just the way it is. If you cannot, then it's best not to enter the arena.

D1,2,3,5A Albatros Package - Question for Tex.
JFM replied to catch's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Hi, catch, That link took me to all kinds of funky text. Try this one: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=3701 Be advised the Alb cockpit is unfinished. Aladar said he would update it when FE was first patched, but so far he has not. He did release a stellar DH2 but hasn't been seen here since. His profile says he was last seen in December. Hopefully he's working on another of his stellar creations and too busy to come around! -
Hey guys, Enjoying this sim very much and appreciate everybody's contributions! A couple questions ,if I may Pardon me if they've been addressed--I searched around but haven't seen the answers. 1. Is engine management something that can be modded or needs to be added in a patch? Either way, that's on my list for Santa. Full engine start procedures would be great, but then you'd need to have someone prop the rotaries. At least some simple way to start and stop the engine and shut off the fuel. 2. All my engagements with hostile aircraft occur at ridiculously low altitudes. Is there a way to tweak this in the campaigns, single missions, etc? Thanks for any input!

Engine Management and Intercept Altitudes

Just an FYI. Edited the MISSIONCONTROL.INI as indicated above and it indeed worked. So, thank you for the help! -
Yes!

Grabbing it now. Thank you!

I second that. Have it, love it!

Engine Management and Intercept Altitudes
JFM replied to JFM's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Thanks, fellas! I understand TK can only do so much! I was really hoping it could be modded, but I guess if it could it would have already. Re: altitudes, in campaigns I always hand fly the entire mission--hey, I like flying! I'm always up around 3000 meters at least and invariably the AA bursts that alert me to HA are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down there. Now, I don't mind bouncing them from above, but after the initial pass the rest of the engagement is spent dodging trees and airfield flak. That's when I tested the AltN and usually wound up at three hundred meters! Never tried AltT. I will extract that MISSIONCONTROL.INI file and tweak the altitudes. I'll report back here any results. -
Well, ironically I've already started skinning Jasta 11 Albs from April, 1917. I'm using Tex's DIIIs. I've done four so far, and I plan on releasing them in one package, unless the file size is too ridiculous. Here's a WiP:

WIP - DH.2 32 Squadron & 29 Squadron update

Thanks, v. Deutschmark! Going to grab it now.

Hi, v. Deutschmark! In a few publications I have, written by Greg VanWyngarden, it indicates that Göring first flew the all-white Fokker D.VII (F) 5125/18 in late September 1918, while leader of JG1. GvW believes, and the accompanying photos support him, that the plane was painted white at the factory. The photos reveal that the white finish is immaculate, without a hint of overpainted lozenge, and the black weights table, serial number, starboard-side datum line and the wingtip "hier anheben" placards are all starkly visible against it, as is the starboard cowl manufacturing plate. Normal German practice was to paint right over all this information, rather than to meticulously paint around it with the multiple coats of white paint it would have taken to cover the much darker lozenge, something Göring didn't do on his other airplanes. I offer this as a constructive FYI, in case this is the plane you skinned, and not some other white D.VII (although I believe this was the only white D.VII Göring flew). If so, perhaps you can add the black serial/weights table/placards/ plate in an update? That would complete this most unique skin.

From an overall perspective, that is looking quite stellar! Getting closed to finishing, eh? Hmmm.... Monty CZ... You are getting sleepy... Veeerrryy veeeerrryy sleeeepyyyy.......

Thank you, Lloyd! And, please, do No.32 Squadron, if able! JFM

Fantastic! Look forward to it. Re: the sawtooth, I've read it was PC10 "teeth" over clear doped linen, but I can't give you the source for that of the top of my head.
