  1. Hi Hurricane!

     

    I understand your sufferings.

     

    This might sound stupid, but, there is a mod... To make.. Mods work.. :P

     

    I personally have not used it for FE. But it`s apparently called "Jelly`s"

     

    With it, apparently, you can toss Mods into a separate folder, without "TRALALA"`ing up the game itself. And actually choose what/which mod(s) you wish to play.

     

    I have used something similar myself, for Silent Hunter series, and it did not take me long time to master.

     

    I think there are people here that might help you with that, as I have not yet tried something like this for FE.

    I hope there is a kind soul here which can help get u set up.

  2. Hmm, no prior warning? No offense, but I have been following the development of this movie for more then 2 years.

     

    Judging from the trailers, there doesnt seem to be much of a love story, if you ask me, that girl seems to be very angry during most of the trailer.

     

     

    Still could turn out to be a PH kind of movie though.. Guess we`ll find out when it`s out!

     

    Edit: Yeah, the red fokkers in Flyboys was perhaps the biggest killer of the movie, as well as the unforgettable line "9mm spandau machine guns with twice the ammo capacity." That, coupled with the fact that the DR.1`s were the only fighter planes they fought during the entire movie, and the fact that Spandau`s, as far as I know, were mostly the weapons all prime german scouts were equipped with, plus the Dr.1 was famous and widely known at the first time it got to the frontlines, didn`t exactly add much believable evidence to Beagles being a traitor.. imho... Can`t say there was much of a love story a la PH though, since Rawlings and Luciene supposedly never met again, but the movie was indeed full of clichès. But then again, so is Eddie Rickenbackers Fighting the Flying Circus, and etc etc.

     

    So let`s just hope and pray this movie will be the first ww1 flying movie groundbreaker in decades!

    As we can all see, it`s allowed to have different opinions and ways of doing things.

    If we could accept that, and best of all, respect that, or just like Melnibone did there, argue it in a constructive and non-offensive way. I didnt get angry or anything when he said it like that. Instead of flaming an entire modelling team, like I did.. This community would look heckuva lot more mature! I know, I know. People miss using A-Teams planes cuz maybe theyre not allowed to download, and others again miss bort`s planes cuz he just put down the site. Calling Bort a cry-baby (Or whatever it was that he was called, I stand open for corrections.) Or calling A-Team hypocriti#%#"/.. Certainly is not what I would do... Flame one modeller/mod team, while promoting others??? Were all under the same roof here!! NO No NO im not starting a new flame war here, what I am trying to say is if people around here could just start showing some damn respect, no matter who the person, the choices he/she makes, the consequences that decision/choice produces. We might be able to kick off with real speed from where we ended here: The start...

  4. Hi all

     

    I`ve had my Mist Tsunami Double Row watercooling for about 9 months now.

    Alittle over a month ago, the propellor started to rotate loose on the propellor shaft in the Eheim Pump. I consulted my brother about it, he claimed, exept the noise coming from it, it wouldnt do any harm, only way to fix it was to take the entire waterpump apart, piece by piece, and use some cranck tape to make sure the propeller stayed on the shaft tight and good.

    The day before yesterday, things started to go weird, games hung up after about 10 mins of gameplay.

    Today, when I was playing Need for Speed Carbon, and I was in the middle of a Boss race, the game ctd with an error.

    I was sick and tired of this and checked my watercooling, I found out there was no water going around in the water cable system, the watertank didnt have water waves in it like before..

     

    I do hear the propeller still going around, but I don`t see any water circulating. Could it be the propeller being so far out on the shaft that it doesnt pump the water thru the cables?

     

    Edit: Had a look at the cpu waterblock.. the core of it is black.. I dont have the guts to take the block off.. :(

  5. I used to make all sorts of small scale ww1 planes with clay/noun (I donno the word in English) And had airwars with them :P

    I first made the wooden construction, like on real model planes/real ww1 planes, then I made the "canvas" :P

     

    I used a needle to make bullet holes :P I donno how many "planes" my thrustworthy "Sopwith Camel" "Shoot" down :P

     

    I tried making a paper plane just now, but didn`t quite work out, it became close to a fokker EIII. I "sent" it out on it`s first sortie.

    I`ll post a few pictures tommorow.. Youre gonna think im weird..

  6. Right now, the game has been patched to 1.1, no CTD`s, allthough people have been complaining on being locked to 1024*768 resolution and no AA.

    Also, for manual Torpedo Data Computer(TDC). The Auto Speed Determinator on the Chronometre is not working. So I am having a hard time getting any good solutions, hence, I cant hit anything with torpedoes :P

    But the patch fixed alot of stuff, and next patch will fix alot as well. The graphics are nice, and will look alot nicer with a better resolution and some AA into it.

    The effects are crazy as well as just sitting there for hours watching the waves in the ocean. You can rescue pilots, insert agents, save refugees. In short you can do alot of cool stuff :D

  7. Or, to put the issue about bad AI to a more deeper perspective, here`s what Polovski said over at SOH earlier today:

    "AI is completely variable on each machine. XML editing has little noticeable effect on them. Some people find they are great, some thing they are bad. AI do not circle and crash on my machine, but during testing they did with very low power craft unless they are tweaked - hence the months of testing and tweaking."

  8. OFF Phase 2 is okay, but it suffers from some real problems most of which are the result of using CFS3 as a base, not the excellent work of the modders:

     

    1. I'm getting the hang on exit bug now.

    2. Medium distance model is poor; the AI aircraft are shooting at you long before you can see them; especially head-on.

    3. Using time warp results in serious graphic anomalies so you have to fly all the way to the target which gets boring.

    4. The AI really stinks; worse than First Eagles, all they ever seem to do is go into a diving turn and pull out at ground level or do a hammerhead stall.

    5. The two seaters are inoperable; they fly so fast you can't catch them no matter what you are flying; plus the rear gunners are far too accurate. This is a real problem considering how numerous two-seaters were in the Great Air War.

    6. Skins aren't working right yet.

    7. Some of the plane models look poor, for example the Se5a wings are flat.

     

    Unfortunately none of these serious issues can be addressed due to the base game they are using. The gameplay suffers as a result.

    1: Theres a fix by Pol in a stickie on SOH forum on how to get the Hang on Exit Bug removed, Stickie has same name as the issue itself. Also you should try running CFS3 before you run OFF. Seems to help for quite alot of people.

    2: Yeah, They are shooting at you long before you can see them, but I think, contrary to FE, that`s better then not shooting you at all (Not throwing any bad words on TK here!!). Besides, You can always take evasive maneuvers, heres one trick: Climb above them before they get within 1000 yards during the head-on., Another one is to simply turn 90 degree away from them and climb at the same time, if they are too close. Sometimes you will end up in a bad situation, so, remember, Height is precious drops of life, Always climb higher then your enemy, make them go lower then you, hit them one by one and always make sure you have your 6 clear.

    3: I have never seen those graphic anomalies, but if you adress them at SIMHQ forum or Sim OutHouse forum, atleast OFF Team knows about it.

    4: I never seen that before either, When I fight the AI they do hard turns, Split S`s, Loops, just about anything in the aerobatic book. Unless they are damaged. Also I recommend Hard Flight Model. Which is actually alot better because now you can do hang on prop with D7`s, breathtaking stall turns. And more! :)

    5: Yeah that issue is being worked on. I have same problem.

    6: Because not all of them are released yet, but if you take a look at the Official OFF site, you will see they have released 4 patches, of which the first one, or the second one, i cant remember actually, solves the Quick Fight skin selection problem, also, in the Workshop, you can disable the warnings, OFF Team was fully aware of not all the skins being available even before they released the mod, but they will release more skins underway. So rest assured, you are not alone :)

    7: There is a stickie in the SOH forum, where you will definitly see a fix to activate 2048 Hi Rez for skins. I really recommend you: Check that out! :D I too saw some weird model/skin problems even after I activated the Hi Res, Polovski suggests either bad Skin core file download, or GFX problem. I never had that problem again when I tried Refly.

     

    Also, better Models are under progress, as well as flight models and damage models.

     

    I hope I didn`t offend you in either of theese points. If I wrote something weird like, you will notice (Some kinnda obvious thing.)

     

    Rest assured, OFF suffers from some base issues indeed. But unless they are unsolveable like some of the points you mentioned, point 1, 2, 3 (Which only you seem to be having, and am sorry to hear that you do :( .), I can guarantee they are being worked on as we speak :) Thx for reading. Considered participating the 60thSqn Missions yet? They will further immerse you into the World of OFF. And would be honoured having you there :)

  9. Use Auto Trim Level, I always do that, CTRL+A :D

     

    Also, if you are flying the Nieuport 17, check out CTRL+C , you are in for a nice and pleasant surprise :biggrin:

     

     

    On my German Alb D.II pilot I have survived 3 hours now, have 39 claims and 9 confirmed

    On my French Escadrille Lafayette Nieuport 17 (Owh I just love the silver Nieuport 17!!!) I have about 2 hours and 7 confirmed and 29 Claims.

  10. Yeah, The Pilot die`s system is a little odd in OFF. That and the desktop going back to 1024x768 is the only issues I find pretty much annoying in OFF, but they don`t keep me from playing the game.

     

    OFF actually has a challenge, to survive 17 hours! That`s why I constantly find myself behind the stick xD
