  1. I've simply never been able to get anything from that site. I registered on the forum and followed the guidelines to get download access, then followed the further guidelines if you don't receive a reply to your email, and never got a reply from that one either. It looks like some good stuff on that site, but it might just as well not exist for me, since I can't download any of it despite having followed all the things you are supposed to do in order to be able to get it. I was interested in their DH4, but I've resorted to making my own because of that, and I may well end up having to do the same to get a Pfalz. Al
  2. Yup, looks nice, but I can't download A-Team stuff either, I've sent them emails to try and get registered to enable me to download stuff, but I've never had any replies from them. Al
  3. Not really sure why it would cause a freeze other than the resolution change to the skin, which you could drop back down to 512 and see if that makes a difference. Probably won't lose too much detail in doing that. Al
  4. View File Late war Albatros DVa This is a slightly tweaked texture set for the standard FE Albatros DVa, to create the appearance of late war DVa, with a few changes to add some additional detail. The main change is the lozenge pattern on the upper wing surfaces and the tailplane, which gives it a brighter look and alters the colours a bit. The underside of the tailplane also uses the 'upper' lozenge pattern to help portray the notion of some of the shortages experienced in the German aircraft industry as the war progressed. The fuselage wood has been changed to a slightly more reddish colour, which is based on the appearance of the 1960's Cole Palen replica, for no other reason than the fact that I like the colour of that one, and it adds a bit of variety. I've also added the weight data stenciling to the fuselage. The wheels have had the tire valve access hole and spokes added, there is also some exhaust smoke staining added to the stabiliser and elevator on the right side, and the Albatros Company logo has been added to the rudder, as it would have appeared on aircraft that had not been overpainted with fancier markings. Feel free to mess around with this paint job, have fun with it, and bag a Frenchie for the Kaiser. Al 'Chock' Bradbury Submitter Chock Submitted 09/08/2009 Category Albatros Skins

  6. Alternative bullet hit sound for FE View File Here's an alternative bullet hit sound for FE. This is something I'm still working on, but I wanted a more frightening sound when you get jumped and bullets start hitting stuff. It's debatable what you'd hear over an engine and the rush of the wind, but try it and see if you like it. Make a back up of your original 'Dirt Hit' sound first of course, then you can change it back if you don't like this one. Feel free to mess around with this or upload it anywhere you like. Have fun. - Al 'Chock' Bradbury Submitter Chock Submitted 09/08/2009 Category First Eagle - General Files - Sound Mods

  8. Actually, it would be the second on here, there's a DVII Fokker factorypaint job by me in there somewhere from a good while ago, and if you are into MS FS at all, I'm currently making a freeware Airco D.H.4 for that, which is well under way. Anyway, glad you like it Al
  9. View File SE5a with added detail and 'greener' PC dope This is a repaint of the SE5a to add a bit of detail and definition to the model and make it appear more 'green' as SE5as occasionally did when the PC dope was mixed differently. I have painted on the fuselage side lacing with more definition and put new creases into that covering based on photographs of a few SE5as. The wings have been repainted to show a more realistic wear effect on the rib stitching and where the main spar contacts the covering. On the underside, I have attempted to emulate the translucent effect of clear doped linen to show the wing spars and ribs, as well as a bit of dirtying up having been added. I've made it look as though a minor repair has been effected on the starboard lower wing covering from a few bullet holes having been patched, although this is very minor and not over the top, merely to add some interest. Overall, the skin has been given a bit of general wear and tear, although the appearance of the aircraft is still relatively well cared for, just showing a bit of typical scuffing from a few week's worth of service. The wheel fairings have had the tire valve access hole added and the spokes made visible inside the wheel. There are a couple of other minor texture tweaks too, such as a recolouring of the wing struts and undercarriage stanchion fairings, based on observations of the Shuttleworth Collection's SE5a. Instructions for installation are included in a small read me file, although there's nothing complicated about installing it, Al 'Chock' Bradbury. Have fun, feel free to mess with it or redistribute it (keeping in mind Third Wire's rules), and bag a Hun for me. Chocks away chaps, jolly good show! 12. Considering this is, as you say, an amatuer stab at a flight sim, it's looking pretty good and I certainly wish you all the best with it. Unfortunately as I'm an artist too rather than a coder, what I could offer is probably not much help to you, but I can certainly offer you good luck with the project. I must say that it is nice to see someone having a decent crack at WW1 aviation which concentrates on all the earlier less cliched stuff. The DH2, Gunbus etc might not be as glamourous as the DR1 and the SE5a, but they are certainly no less interesting for that. If I might also make a suggestion however: I think that your working title of 'Down in Flames', whilst very emotive, seems a touch insensitive, particularly in view of the fact that such a fate was probably most of the young flyers of WW1's greatest dread. There are lots of alternatives which are just as catchy and emotive, but less likely to upset people's sensibilities: Gathering of Eagles, Duel in the Skies, Over the Front, Canvas Falcons, Call to the Skies etc etc. Even in a simulation, the image of an aircraft on fire with a very visible pilot is a disturbing one. One look at the external view of a burning aircraft going down in O.F.F. or First Eagles is enough to illustrate what an horrific notion it is, and whilst we should not forget that this was indeed the unfortunate fate of many airmen, I suspect that it might cause problems in the 'marketing' of even a freeware title. Just something to consider anyway. Once again, good luck with the venture.
  13. View File Factory finish Fokker DVII texture by Chock For those who prefer their Fokker D VII aircraft not to attract too much attention from the RFC, here is a new texture set for the Fokker D VII in Third Wire's First Eagles sim. This repaint is intended to portray a typical Fokker D VII as it would appear after having been at the front for a few weeks, coming direct from the Fokker factory. The standard factory finish from the Fokker works was not the lozenge camouflage as many suppose, but a pale blue colour with olive drab streaks, the streaks being applied by semi-skilled workers with nothing more sophisticated than a three inch-wide paintbrush! This led to some widely differing camouflage patterns on Fokker aircraft, although the standard application was supposed to be with vertical streaks on the fuselage and streaks at approximately 45 degrees on the upper surfaces. The type designation and serial number on this repaint is spurious, however, it is a reasonable facsimile of the Fokker works designation system, and is one of several ways to identify a Fokker-built D VII from one built under licence by Albatross, examples of which, usually featured a more fanciful font for the serial number stencilling. To install this texture in your First Eagles sim, just create a new folder called Factory Finish in your D VII folder and put all the files from this zip dpownload in there.
