  1. OMG!

I read somewhere that on a man's birthday, he's supposed to drink a pint for every friend that cannot join him to celebrate. Okay, so you need to count the members of CA and drink up! Happy birthday!
  2. Modded-to-flyables get broken with every patch. I just keep a copy of the aircraft.ini backed-up eslewhere to copy over. No big deal. I'm still getting populated carriers just fine. I haven't had time to see if he fixed the fleet movements issue in the NA campaign.
  3. That's what I thought, but I see a LOT of decal files and no jets. D'oh. There are DLC cat files in the DLC folder. Silly me.
  4. Congratulations to My Wife

Thank you both for your many years of selfless and dedicated service. And congratulations to her on retirement. Any idea what's next for the both of you?
  5. Mirage F1 expansion first screenshots...

Hey, is that the Academy F-14? Good work on it!
  6. Jeez. So, I'm flying an Su-24 in a wave attack against a CVBG surrounding USS John F. Kennedy. There are 16 of us and we go in low and fast against the carrier. There was ONE Tico, USS Vincennes, covering the carrier. We were at wavetop almost and I didn't get within 20 miles of the target. That ship is the hedgehog from hell.
  7. SF2 gets famous? (NSFW)

    Cannot unhear.
  8. Yeah, Aegis cruisers don't play nice. But that's a good thing.
  9. Yes, I didn't mean while deployed. But over very long campaigns like Rolling Thunder, several air wings moved carriers between deployments. CVW-9 went out on the Ranger first and then the Enterprise, for example. I have been hoping that away existed to replicate it.
  10. I think I smell an update of the Vietnam and ground war expansion campaigns to include proper carrier groups, escorts, and PIRAZ ships. I wonder if we can now have squadrons transfer between carriers during a campaign so that over very long campaigns we can simulate air groups changing ships.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Thank you for downloading the Mid- and Low-vis generic skin pack and the corrective decal pack for the Thirdwire F-14A and F-14A_77.for the Thirdwire Productions F-14A_77. This pack was made to provide low and medium visibility markings for all squadrons on the stock squadron list. These decals would not be possible without TK and Thirdwire for creating SF2:NA and in some cases providing some of the artwork here than has been modified to suit the demands of this pack. Further recognition goes to SuperScale International, Fightertown, Aeromaster, Eagle Strike, FCM, Afterburner, and Custom Aeronautical Miniatures for producing model decals that made good reference material, and to Torsten Anft, Peter Davies, Lou Drendel, Paul Gilchrist, Dave Brown, and many others for their published works and photographs. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Requirements: Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic. Installation: 1: drop the Objects folder into your Strike Fighters 2 mod folder. 2: Enjoy how you will. Known Issues: 1: VF-111 is missing the shark mouth. A: Without the .out file to determine what the meshname for the nose is, I have decided to exclude this decal for the time being. I will add it once the .out is available. 2: The squadron markings don't look any different from one skin to the next. A: In many cases, squadron markings didn't change for years. Some squadrons went from high-vis to early low-vis with drastic changes while others never altered their tail art. Some of these squadrons came along after the high-vis period was over and didn't so much as change Air Wings for an entire decade or more. If you see a repeat in squadron decals, that's because that's just how it was. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there are any questions, comments, or complaints, please contact me through my profile Swordsman422 at CombatAce.com ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Thank you for downloading the corrective decal pack for the Thirdwire F-14A and F-14A_77. This pack was made to correct inaccurate or missing decals for the US Navy F-14 squadrons included in Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic. These decals would not be possible without TK and Thirdwire for creating SF2:NA and in some cases providing some of the artwork here than has been modified to suit the demands of this pack. Installation: 1: drop the Objects folder into your Strike Fighters 2 mod folder. Allow to overwrite as neccessary. 2: Enjoy how you will. Known Issues: 1: VF-1 and VF-111 are still missing decals. A: I know. VF-1 is missing it's fuselage stripe and VF-111 does not have the shark mouth. The VF-1 stripe runs along the forward fuselage and passes through a modex number that is placed noticably lower that the modex in other squadrons. This would have negated the generic qualities of these skins. The VF-111 shark mouth on the nose would require adding a new decal data bloc and experimenting with placement. I may yet add this decal later should modders be given access to the .out files with future patches. 1a: Squadron X is still missing decal Y. A: Probably because they didn't have it during the time period modeled. VF-11 for example didn't have their squadron number on the ventral fins in the early 80's. They had it on the tail, and it's already present in the existing artwork. 2: A lot of these look like the decals I had already. A: Yes. That just means that there wasn't any problem with the original decal. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there are any questions, comments, or complaints, please contact me through my profile Swordsman422 at CombatAce.com
  12. Aw yeah! Freedom of navigation!
  13. Yeah, it's sad.Port Royal is on the list because she still has stress damage from when she ran aground in 2008.
  14. Sid, I think they are two of the ones on the potential chopping block.
  15. Oh, man. Ticos are my blue water crack. Next to a sim with the F-14 in it, my greatest desire was a new sim involving command of an Aegis cruiser. I have your originals already working and showing up in single missions. This update looks sweet! BTW, USS Port Royal and a lot of the other Ticos are getting coral blue anti-fouling paint as they come in for refits. This can be seen in the added picture. It's sad. The USN is going to retire the 6 ships that don't have BMDS and one other that requires extensive and expensive hull repairs next year because of fiscal budget cuts. Cross your fingers, this is tentative and if certain things improve, the retirements may be pushed back or not occur at all.
  16. Do we know what file determines the general make-up and formation of a naval group in single missions and what year they start showing up?
  17. Damn. Guess I gotta start doing Intruders too now. Thanks for doubling my workload! Lol! Glad to have these.
  18. Game over, man! Game over!
  19. 100% intelligence you say? Vely Intelestink. I've had a modded Dhimar/Paran campaign set in 2004 during the twilight of the F-14. Before NA the bad guys would attack the carrier station and the escorts I had as part of the scenery objects. After NA, they wouldn't come out at all. I'll have to try this. I can't right now and I'd say alas, I'm at work. But I work in paradise in corporate terms. Waterworld eh? Y'know, now that we have NA, that map's usefulness is really going to take off (pun).
  20. Aw right! I'm looking forward to this! Just had an idea. Does an open ocean map exist? What about a campaign that is nothing more than a carrier group transitioning all the way across the map escorting a convoy? Since we can have carrier groups move during the campaign and can also have bombers from off screen. It'd be nothing but 10 missions of recon and bomber intercepts until we can get submarines good and figured out, then there'd be something for the S-3s to do.
  21. Here are preview shots of several generic skins I'm working on made using corrected, alternate, or low-visibility decals. All squadrons will be represented, though not all of them will have different markings on each skin.
  22. Thought I'd be done by now. Alas, these two decal sets took a LOT longer than I expected. Not much more left to go. Missing Fin decals for the stock squadron markings need doing and then the stock corrections will be finished. I'll release those as soon as that's done and I'll continue work on the alternate and early low-viz skins.
  23. VF-142 had even more decal issues. Those are now fixed. Stock decals now look like this.
  24. The more involved correction of VF-213's tail art. This is both their primary and alternate decals. The Low-viz will of course be different. As to any Top Gun skins, yeah probably. I already have the decals made up to do it for the MF Tomcat. Unless TW gives us as a DLC the 100-GR, 105-GR, or 110-GR, I don't foresee providing them for the TW Tomcat. Plus in order to do the mid-80's TPS, I'd need some templates. I have them already for the MF cat so that makes my life easier and my decision less difficult.
  25. Thanks Storm! Scratch that off the to-do list. Sid, a new Forrestal? Awesome. That's the one US supercarrier class that needs an updated model badly. Can't wait to see that!
