  1. Cambrai Plane Fest II

    Hi there.... I can not put all the planes in a zip file due to some of the designers request that people have to Download them from their site. If I do a zip of all of them I would be in conflict with their request as designers. I would love to be able to do that but its not in line iwth the mod designers request. The new Planes Fest will have links in the redme file to all the planes needed so its easier to find them and get them installed.

    This will be great... thanks ! Trying to get bombers to work right has always been a hassle. Can't wait to install these and run a few missions.
  3. Peter01’s FM pack?

    Ohh sorry been busy in RL lately ..... I did that campaign along time back and I can't say how matched up the plane sets may be at this point. Peter has had to redesign for each patch and that has made older campaigns act funny at times. If thngs dont seem very fair it may be an indicator of the how the FMs were matched up at that point in time, not how they might be today. I would suggest making a folder up called peters_FM , then I have folders under that are named by dates of release. That way I can keep up with what I have upgraded in my game set. If I remember that release it had about 50 planes in there. I did kind of lead you astray talking about peter01's FM set. I should have said sets. Each time he releases he is very good about a read me with exactly which planes will be included and I just keep a running set of his FMs going all the time. Its updated as often as he releases them. It makes the campaigns a little different each release but the trade off is more than worth it for his FMs. I have a new Fest in the works but there has been one sticking point thats bugging me to death and im close to resolving it now. Maybe in a bit I will have a new campaign released for the flanders terrain set. Biggest problem is not letting one side get too much of an edge plane wise. It may have been how it was in RL but ...I want it to be fun playing any of the three sides in the War. I keep on seeing a different way the game fights between campaigns and single missions. Not only that game sets each one up differently between the two. SO testing is a bit of a hassle.... I cant beging to think of how many test runs Peter must do .... <shiver> If you have some questions levme them here and I will try and drop by and take a look. Hope this helped.

  5. Horizon Mod

    Ok a slight mod to the orig file so I guess this is ver 2 Ok I have a test run I would like a few of you to try out and see what you think. Please try this in all different weather and altitude variations. I have tried it on quite a few single missions up to 20K ft and its looking at least better than it did before. Please drop me some info here and I will tweak it as we find any problems and I will repost some new variations. THis should clear up some of the sky band problems and also it should let you be able to see a bit better in the worse weather missions. I may have gone to far in the weather idea but if we want I will add less visability. Take off the NEW_ and also change the .txt to .ini Remember to back up your original before doing any of this.   6. Well looks like ROF asked for a few beta testers on their web site this weekend. All interested had to be with a squadron for some reason but at least its on the move. Hopefully it won't be too long till they release.

Sneaking in for some help and ideas on plane to plane damage. 1st off my set up: fresh install, all planes have Peter01's FM mods, my horizon mod, peter01s 70% bullet mod, and the grfx enhance mod. I have been noticed that as I fly different planes some are just WAY WAY to easy to take a wing off or do major damage to such as the N11, 17,24,28. In the same battle I will have planes that seem to take a MAJOR beating and don't loose any parts very easy at all such as the albs and the DH2. I can't add mass to ammo or the light ones blow up like 4th of july and can't lessen the ammo or the others will be unkillable. It really varies alot more than seems realistic to me... anyone out here thats taking a look at balancing the planes for armor/airframe abuse yet? Also any ideas other than using the armor code on each plane piece by piece? That would be a large undertaking doing all the planes 1 by 1....
  8. Plane damage Mods

    Yea I see the same things TS ! I can dive in on a DH2 and put 1/2 the ammo into his plane and he still flies around most times. I fly by the N11 and it takes his wings off with 1 burst. I did look at the structural code and its not that much off the others. I did change some numbers to see if its going to make the adjustment I wanted. I wish some good code person would build us up a dmg model program like the one for plane performance we have now. It would show the plane parts piece by piece and it would easier to see what and where weak points are.

    1st off it depends on the campaign. If the campaign was designed for the add on mod planes then yes you need them to get the campaign to work properly. Most of us who design campaigns always put a list of which planes are needed to make the campaign work right. If you have the downloaded planes already then put them in the \objects\airfraft folder. You should then be able to play and fly those aircraft in single player missions and those campaigns that were designed to use the planes you have installed. Some campaigns are very time line based and will only need maybe 5-8 planes others wll use pretty much every plane thats been made by these great Plane designers. Now if your looking for more planes then your at the right spot at CA. You must sign-up there to gain access but its easy and they are great designers. Some of their planes may be here at CA but im not sure. Make sure and read the user agreement and understand it. THere are some limitations to what you can do to thier mods.   11. Atmospherics/Horizon

    Im actually working on this problem now. There were a few things I didnt like.... 1st being that same white band and the other was the bad weather made it impossible for a human to fight the AI which (stupidly) the AI has no problems targetting you !!! I think there should have been a way to have the AI under the same restriction as we have. you can have 100% fog and the AI will shoot you dead in a few shots and you can't even see where they are at and you WILL lose target lock. The white band is getting close to being a non issue but even with my code changes if your up real high alt its there somewhat. I will try and get some time this week to finish the mod. I also hav it where there is some space around your plane in thick fog so you can at least see for a ways out. This way you can stand a chance in dense fog to DF an AI plane and avoid the how did I get shot thing. I will post the mod as soon as I get a few more things worked out.

    No idea at all. I have't ever tried to change any of the awards in the game. I know I have seen a few people do it though. Look through a search of this forum for award and im sure there is a post about how they changed the pics and text GL
  14. AI planes at low level

    Yes, I do know I changed a few places for this to work. I do remember the other file you mentioned now. Im moving to a new house so im a bit slow and dont have all my notes available that are laying around all the time 8) Cant wait to see the new missions your working on. And yes AI will fly you into mnts and stuff at times.... havent had it fly me into tnything YET using ALT_N...but ya newver know ...
  15. Hey Peter I know we all enjoy to the great efforts you have done on FMs for all the planes. I have a bunch of different downloads of different sets and planes from different timeframes you have done FMs for.... is there any way to ask you for one consolidated zip of all the current FMs in one pack? I know, I know... im just trying to make sure I have all the match ups FM wise for a new plane fest im working on. If you can find a way and the time that would really rule !! Thanks

    Ok Im pretty sure this is due to an entry in the aircraftobject.ini in the object folder (you need to extract the cat file 1st) In that file is the area you will see an entry like this: [DogfightNovice] SafeAltitude=160 <--- This is where it tells the AI what the lowest alt is before dis-engaging. LookoutAngle=90 DefensiveAngle=60 ChanceDefensiveTurn=0 ChanceBreakTurn=25 ChanceHardTurn=50 ChanceTurnDirection=25 ChanceContinue=100 ChanceCheckNewTarget=5 ChanceUseVertical=0 FightWithoutAmmo=0 CannonFireAngle=30.0 MaxPitchInput=0.4 MaxCannonRange=1200 OptimalCannonRange=100 MinCannonRange=60 MaxRollForGunAttack=45 CannonBurstLengthShort=2.5 CannonBurstLengthLong=2.5 MaxRudderForGunAttack=0.5 MaxRudderForManeuver=0.7 there are entries for novice, rookie, regular, ace pilot AI areas. Each one has this entry at the top SafeAltitude=xxx im pretty sure that tells the AI what its lowest alt to fly at. I have had all mine reset to 30 so all planes will chase the human player much lower than before. ALso adds a few crashes for the AI from running into things but I like it better than the run away at 150 idea. Now just an FYI, I think peter01 also included some of the AI stuff on certain planes within the XXX_data.ini files for those planes so you have to adress the command in 2 different places. So if your running peter01's FM set (most of us are) then you may want to check the data.ini files of the planes your using to see if you need to change some data there as well. I would change in both places or the planes your flying low may work but not the AI for planes trying to attack them. When attacking the AI will stop at the 100' or what ever they are at and wont tend to go much lower for a shot. Hope this helps.

    Bristol F-2B Brisfit is one of the A teams releases. I think you can go here, read the forum and get an access to their DL area. http://cplengineeringllc.com/SFP1/ They the files there on their servers you can DL once you are registered. I think peter01 has done some mods for this model as well.
  20. Yea and I was not expecting that from ROF.... im a bit taken back now. I see their idea and the point but hmmmm That info sure pulled me back for an auto purchase on ROF. May be more of a wait and see thing now. I was really hopeful for being able to use HL or private server framework.
  21. Ok I left a msg at CA and now one here. Anyone have a good link to somehwere on the web that has CFS3 real cheap? I really dont want to invest much into MS and then the $50 for the P3. Im sure P3 is worth it I just want to avoid much going into CFS3

    Thanks for the info and opinions on the pack. THis is always great to have for those that may be interested in getting this. I am kind of interesed in seeing more player made videos real soon to see what it looks like for most players. Maybe a movie including the battle reports and such to get a view of that part of the game and the mission builder. For me its mostly the cash out put... since I didn't expect CFS3 to be worth a dang I never got it. SO now I would need ot put up 20$+ for CFS3 and the $50 for the pack. $70 bucks is more than my interest so far... still watching tho. Tried to look around the web for a real cheap CFS3 but nothing yet. I do love the fact of the mission reports and the builder. 1 Do you feel the FMs are realistic or not> 2 How does the weather affect the flying> 3 More input in this graphic FPS thing if you can. Thanks for any and all movies and input...
  23. Just a fast note and a thanks to Peter and other Mod makers. I have pretty much every FM Peter has done up... so far I have a slightly modded version of his gundata.ini (im at about 77% of the original Ammo weight). I have also added custom versions of the Machine Guns for Rear gunners and gave them a bit more fire power (about 85% of original) and gave them a bit quicker movement / Tracking response. THis has made it where you can only get behind a bomber for a very VERY short time before they chew you up. The result of this has made it where I am getting real good at aiming for the pilot kill and not just plane damage or engine damage. Im getting pretty darn good at pilot kills lately with all the new mods forcing me to find a better way to kill (with the added ammo weight the AI is a bit faster to kill the human as well). The only thing im running into now is AI planes pull right in behind bombers most times for a shot and pretty much get turned into mulch Any thoughts on ways to get AI ti attack for angles more and not just sit behind the bombers and get chewed up as bad? My squad is about 80% dead in a short time over attacking bombers from directly behind.

  25. Improving the Aim

    Yes Peter Im very happy on the FMs and the GUN data ideas. I was afraid the AI couldn't change the attack method. Yea it seems to be very tricky balancing the AI vs AI gunners. I wanted the bombers to be dangerous to attack but need the fighter AI to be a bit better than sitting right behind the bombers as well.... Guess I sould increase the pilot resupply rate in the campaign so they can be replaced faster. Kind of a warped way of doing it but I would atleast have more pilots to keep the squad going. I think I may try just slowing the tracking speed back down but keep the ammo weight up where the bomber gunners have lethal guns but a bit slower on the response times.
