Hi Peter01, I just wanted to say how much you have made this game so much more for me. I am finally playing in Hard more and loving it -- thanks to you. Watching my six ...

Awesome Peter01. I am going to apply your suggestions. I love the WWI planes, but was getting bored with the AI in general. Went back to IL-2 FB because the AI seemed more challenging. Now we have a Snipe! So, I am looking forward to getting shot up properly. I will adjust each aircraft as you suggested. Thanks again, and thanks for answering so quickly. Cheers!

Hi Peter01 Just a quick question. What are you recommending for RollForGunAttackRate=? Your talk below does not indicate that these are negative numbers. "RollForGunAttackRate= which is usually in the FM ...so if you change this in aircraftobject.ini it will probably be overridden by individual FMs. This determines the amount of roll applied by the ai for a gun attack - how quickly they come around, a very important factor. To me the default value of 1.0 is silly, it should be at least 1.2/1.3 or even 1.5 or more ..." Thank you!

Darn, you missed the point: This could be developed into a new kind of landscaping mod.

I used to play RB 3D in the old days. Online, it was the most fun I ever had with a game. When FE came out, I thought, well it is no RB, but it looks good and not that bad. But now, even not being online with FE, I am thinking, Gee this game has advanced quickly. So many people have made it something really special - it keeps expanding. I never get a chance with all of these planes, and Firecage's campaign updates to even catch up! Yes, I can still play RB 3D on my machine, but I never seem to get to it. I am really glad that I can play FE on my little Fujitsu Lifebook. Cheers and thanks to all your efforts to turn FE into a great experience.

Hey, how come no one is talking about these new planes? The FM seems a bit odd (having trouble diving), but it great to see these planes not looking like a D.V conversion. Thanks Bortdafarm.

Plane Fest 5.0 WIP and need info help

Just wondering if you were thinking of adding Bort's new Albs? -
Boy did I ever! I learned a lot from this topic, and I am glad I got it started. From now on, I will struggle with the planes and love it. Thanks all.

That is a good question. Does anyone know how to mod the tracers? Thanks

First Eagles Flanders Terrain Released
SRT replied to Edward's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Damn! Thanks all. -
Thank you for this information! No wonder you guys know so much.

Yep, that was it, I think. I set the campaign length to "Normal" and around April 20, the EIV showed up. Cheers!
-
Thanks for all the info, Firecage. I would like to muck these up sometime. I might have caused a problem selecting a "short" campaing. Resetting back to normal.
-
Hi Firecage, What did I do wrong? I can't get an EIV update to the EIII when I go past the date to update with Jasta 6. These Fe2Bs are murdering me. The EIV is functional in the mission level. Any clues would be greatly appreciated. Regards, SRT

I will probably regret asking this, but what are the "Windsock pubs"? If you don't tell me that is okay, because I have a feeling if I knew about these pubs, it could lead to turning me into an obsessive WWI historian or something. This darn game is already messing up my life, anyway. My fate is in your hands ... (BTW, I always wondered why they didn't develop the "beloved" Pup. Thanks!

I noticed that the typical gorgeous screens for the Skunkworks planes did not appear. So, to see those, make the following changes to Triplane.ini and they will show up. ... HangarScreen=Triplane_Hangar.bmp LoadoutFile=Triplane_loadout.ini LoadingScreen=Triplane_Loading.bmp ... Great job guys. The Tripe is my favorite. I am donating to paypal!

Hi All, I have started to compile a list of the start and end dates from the _DATA.ini files for most of the existing aircraft. If they came from the original TW planes or if they came from Skunkworks, I left them as they were. Some of the others, I have changed a bit, so I get a sense of when these plane might have flown together (or against each other). The hardest part is getting the dates for the end of service. I am new at this, so if you would like to update these, please do. Wow, FE started with just a few planes. This is on my list. Thanks!

Excellent responses all and very interesting. (Now I've started it.) Thanks for the info and corrections. I like this approach from B Bandy RFC, "there should be a set of loosely "standardized" dates that we can all agree upon (yah, right you say?!?)." It seems the best to hope for, although the idea of squadrons with mixed craft, would be really neat. (lets see, ... while flying my D7, I come across a couple of old N17s. I laugh with superior confidence, and a N17 quickly wips around and daftly shoots me in the head, my vision turns red, then black. Pride goeth before ... and all.) Anyway, I wanted to know what would likely be encountered in the air during certain times. I am updating my list. Thanks again!

Awesome! Thanks for your effort. I can't wait. I find the campaigns to be much more engaging and you have added a lot to this game, and so have so many others. (Yes, I have another life, but this one is fun too, thanks to chaps like you!) Good book to read: "The Canvas Falcons" by Stephan Longstreet (1970). IMHO, you really get a picture of the times. Each chapter paints quite a unique picture (how the first pilots engaged the Zeps, for example). Most of us here are REALLY into the technical capabilities of the aircraft, but this book fills it in with the personalities that flew these machines, and the author illuminates the world condition at the time. Much of the content is from actual pilots, and plane builders like Fokker, and their experiences. Letters to Mom even (the Baron). Reports from Mannock, and others. Longstreet even talks about what happened when they go home on leave. It is honest and amazing. I am reading it for the second time. Cheers!

My hat is in the air! I like the changes with the 2nd patch a lot. I fly normal, and for me, that is enough. Way to go TW.
-
Peter01 - These old German planes now have half a chance. Way to go, and thanks. A bunch of fun, especially with your 1916 campaign. I love it when the Salmonds dogfight with an EIV --- way cool.

Yes, I long to see the "real" DI too. I am hoping. The people that supply the "extra" planes are amazing. The existing DI, although looking like a DII and DIII is in the range of performace, at least we have that. It is easier to pretend for the DII and DIII because they we quite similar, I understand. But, yes ... clip the wings et al ...
