"The varied pictures I've tried on my Windows 7 Desktop. The reason I say TRIED is because all of them work fine UNTIL I run FSX, then it reverts back to stock.." Now thats interesting Uncleal...because I have an all singing Desktop too...and when I start FSX, a little comment comes up on the taskbar saying "Your windows theme has been changed to basic, because this program does not support it" (or words to that effect).... Then when I come out of FSX...It reverts back to my shiny new WIN7 themes!......I wonder if it's something to do with that?...dunno what though -

Put me out of my misery Pol...That IS the Snipe isn't it? -
I never knew the name of the man who wrote this before but I do know the story behind it: It is from a speech made in 1870, when the man's dog, a foxhound named Drum was shot. His owner sued the man who shot Drum. There was no evidence even, but after he finished his speech, the jury was in tears. They fined the man $500, even though the maximum fine was $150. It is claimed that George Vest was a 19th century lawyer defending a client. "Gentlemen of the jury, the best friend a man has in this world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son and daughter that he has reared with loving care may become ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name, may become traitors to their faith. The money that a man has he may lose. It flies away from him when he may need it most. Man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees and do us honor when success is with us may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our head. The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his DOG. A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wing and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens. If fortune drives the master forth an outcast into the cold, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him to guard him against danger, and to fight against his enemies. When the last scene of all comes, and death takes his master in its embrace and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by his graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws and his eyes sad, but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even to death" -Senator George Vest, 1870 Beautiful (sniff)

And, unless I'm mistaken, the way the guns are mounted on that Sopwith, lead me to believe that it's a first glimpse of the Halo'd Snipe?? The Water textures, new clouds and incredible Terrain details including the airfields, and details such as the Cows, just make the competition look very lame!! Stunning! -
Hahahaha Finally cracked it!....This is my new 'Virtual Airline' called Air Northumbria Operating When I can be bothered... from Newcastle to various European Destinations! Taking Bookings NOW!!

OK, as promised..a very quick tuitorial on skinning the default 737-800 in FSX Firstly, navigate to one of the texture folders for the 737 (the plain white is a good start) Copy the entire texture folder to somewhere like your desktop...you will see there are MANY files in each texture folder...you will need them all!..so don't delete any!! Rename the texture folder to whatever you want your aircraft to be... mine is texture.AN... this now becomes your working folder, which you will use to design your livery. The main fuselage file within this Texture folder is called B737_800_1_T This is the one you open in Photoshop (or whatever you use)...It is a DDS file, exactly the same as OFF format. You will notice, it is upside down...I just use Transform, and rotate it 180..makes it easier to work on! Do your skinning exactly as you would in OFF (taking note, that unlike OFF...all decals, writing etc are MIRRORED!...so you need to flip all your worded textures, so they appear to be the wrong way around! (see example) Once you're happy with your finished design...flip it back 180 again, so it appears upside down (as in the example above)....then save as a DDS file (NOTE: the correct format is DXT5!!...NOT DXT1..like OFF uses) You may get a "Two many Channels" error when saving...if so, you need to flatten you file! Then copy the entire Texture folder back into the main B737-800 folder...and open the aircraft cfg file, to add your livery to the list! Here is mine as an example! (mine is fltsim.10...as I have 9 previous skins..so change that figure to whatever is next in your list) [fltsim.10] title=Boeing 737-800 Air Northumbria sim=Boeing737-800 model= panel= sound= texture=AN kb_checklists=Boeing737-800_check kb_reference=Boeing737-800_ref atc_id= atc_airline=Air Northumbria atc_flight_number=AN07 ui_manufacturer="Boeing" ui_type="737-800" ui_variation=Air Northumbria ui_typerole="Commercial Airliner" ui_createdby="Microsoft Corporation" description="Boeing 737-800 Repaint By Simon Falla Well, I hope that helps a bit (I'm not the best at tuitorial writing)...I will help as much as possible if you need any more! good luck -
I've no idea what you Military Types are talking about...But Best of luck to your Good Lady anyways Dave

Thanks for your kind comments chaps OvS....I will write a quick tuitorial over the W/E and post it in this thread! It's 'similar' to skinning in OFF...However with some VERY different and vital steps involving file formats. -

Yep..the Sacrifice our Four Legged Friends have made (Dogs and Horses) should also be remembered...Yes, some people say "They're just Dumb Animals"....but don't Dare say that to a Soldier whose life has been saved, such as the Canadians in Gander's story Whether the dog is employed in a formal program or not you can be sure that wherever there are soldiers in need of comfort and companionship there will always be a faithful dog nearby. I am interested in all War Animals Stories...one of my personal favourites is the Story of 'Judy' http://www.petplanet.co.uk/news_article.asp?article_id=653 And of Course Gander..whose story is well known http://www.pdsa.org.uk/about-us/media-pr-centre/news/604_gander:-canadian-war-dog-remembered-on-the-60th-anniversary-of-vj-day Gander's citation states: "For saving the lives of Canadian infantrymen during the Battle of Lye Mun on Hong Kong Island in December, 1941. On three documented occasions, Gander, the Newfoundland mascot of the Royal Rifles of Canada, engaged the enemy as his regiment joined the Winnipeg Grenadiers, members of Battalion Headquarters 'C' Force and other Commonwealth troops in their courageous defence of the island. Twice Gander's attacks halted the enemy's advance and protected groups of wounded soldiers. In a final act of bravery the war dog was killed in action gathering a grenade. Without Gander's intervention, many more lives would have been lost in the assault." On two occasions, he saw off the Japanese Soldiers, and they ran away screaming "Black Devil"...the Canadians were interrogated when they were Captured, as the Japanese thought the Allies were training 'Devils' to wage War against them!...He was so big, he was often mistaken for a Bear!!! Then there's the Border Collie..who served with the SAS and made over 20 parachute jumps!...Dumb Animals?...I think not -
If World War One was a bar Fight... Germany, Austria and Italy are standing together in the middle of a pub when Serbia bumps into Austria and spills Austria's pint. Austria demands Serbia buy it a complete new suit because there are splashes on its trouser leg. Germany expresses its support for Austria's point of view. Britain recommends that everyone calm down a bit. Serbia points out that it can't afford a whole suit, but offers to pay for the cleaning of Austria's trousers. Russia and Serbia look at Austria. Austria asks Serbia who it's looking at. Russia suggests that Austria should leave its little brother alone. Austria inquires as to whose army will assist Russia in compelling it to do so. Germany appeals to Britain that France has been looking at it, and that this is sufficiently out of order that Britain should not intervene. Britain replies that France can look at who it wants to, that Britain is looking at Germany too, and what is Germany going to do about it? Germany tells Russia to stop looking at Austria, or Germany will render Russia incapable of such action. Britain and France ask Germany whether it's looking at Belgium. Turkey and Germany go off into a corner and whisper. When they come back, Turkey makes a show of not looking at anyone. Germany rolls up its sleeves, looks at France, and punches Belgium. France and Britain punch Germany. Austria punches Russia. Germany punches Britain and France with one hand and Russia with the other. Russia throws a punch at Germany, but misses and nearly falls over. Japan calls over from the other side of the room that it's on Britain's side, but stays there. Italy surprises everyone by punching Austria. Australia punches Turkey, and gets punched back. There are no hard feelings because Britain made Australia do it. France gets thrown through a plate glass window, but gets back up and carries on fighting. Russia gets thrown through another one, gets knocked out, suffers brain damage, and wakes up with a complete personality change. Italy throws a punch at Austria and misses, but Austria falls over anyway. Italy raises both fists in the air and runs round the room chanting. America waits till Germany is about to fall over from sustained punching from Britain and France, then walks over and smashes it with a barstool, then pretends it won the fight all by itself. By now all the chairs are broken and the big mirror over the bar is shattered. Britain, France and America agree that Germany threw the first punch, so the whole thing is Germany's fault . While Germany is still unconscious, they go through its pockets, steal its wallet, and buy drinks for all their friends.
