Not true. He was also a Lt. for the Gotham Police department in the late 80s when Mr. Mom put on a Bat suit "Hey Eckhardt! Think about the future!"

TI 99/4A here...went to the C128 after that.

No....I work with Porkins. I would get in trouble for posting a pic of him....but he is a spot on dead ringer for Porkins. I mean dead on....same face, same thin nasty looking beard. I swear if I did not see Porkins on the big screen 30 years ago, it was the same guy We even call him Red Six.

Nice. the Dambusters finally traded in their baby bugs, huh? I have a couple projects in the pipe currently, but I can add this to the list. -
Got back into table top war gaming and got hooked on Battletech. Any other players in CA land? (Note....talking about the table top game..NOT the PC games)

Battletech uses "Z-scale"....about 1:285th. Pretty close to Micro Armor stuff. In fact, I use GHQ micro armor for tanks and infantry and stuff in our games. We have a 4 foot by 6 foot board that gets stacked against the wall when games aren't under way and we have held some pretty large scale battles on there and never run out of room. BTW....I hear your gripes about PDF....they are a hassle. Luckily I have access to a decent printer that does double sided printing so it isn't a huge factor. If you are interested in checking out Battletech again and want to play a few games but don't have the new books or players or whatever....check out Mega Mek. It's a cool Java based version of Battletech....has all the updated rules and most of the new mechs. The cool thing is you can create your own mechs in Solaris Skunk Works and import them in Mega Mek. Definitely worth a look

I got something even better than that...... Miniatures!

Nice! Never played Rifts, but played the Robotech and TMNT RPGs quite a bit. The big rage among game publishers is PDFs now. Many of the publishers offer their books in PDF format at a reduced price. I purchased Total Warfare in PDF form and used my printer at work to double side print and put it in a binder for easy reference during games. Saved more than half the cost of buying a hard copy of the book

There is no Aerotech anymore, it's all been integrated into one book. Check out Classic Battletech - Total Warfare....that will give you everything you need to play...mechs, infantry, aerospace, vehicles...the whole sha-bang. Then look into Tactical Operations and Strategic Operations. TactOps gives you advanced rules like environmental and atmospheric conditions....stuff like wind, rain, low viz and gravity and stuff, advanced weaponry like retractable blades, etc. The StratOps gives you even more advanced rules for stuff like drop ships, and capital ships, mech salvaging and includes Battleforce rules. They just recently released "A Time of War", which is the updated RPG....basically like Mechwarrior 4th Edition

Nope....there was never a stoppage of releases. The licenses were bought by a company called Wizkids and they continuted to release source books and also created the Dark Age/Age of Destruction miniature game. Then Catalyst bought the rights and have been putting out new stuff ever since. They are just releasing a new intro box set and word is they are bringing back LAMs

They balanced the clans quite a bit now. Clan weapons are more powerful, but their mechs are typically less armored. Any decent Inner Sphere player can wipe a clan player off the map with sound tactics.
-
That's why I have it on the PS3....no hardware issues
-
No reason for FASA to be resurrected from the grave. A company called Catalyst Games took over the Battletech and Shadowrun lines.

OK...so my buddy and I used to go to this place in Seattle called "The Other Side". They had these pods they built that were kinda like those old sit down arcade machines, and they had a full compliment of CH flight controls....throttle, stick rudder peddles with a 33 inch screen and headset for communications. They used to run the old "Jane's Fighter Anthology". We would go in for 2 hour sessions and fly a mission. Usually we would finish up early and the "Mission Controller" (he was the dude that sat in the room where all the computers were running the game) would let us do whatever we wanted for the rest of the time....that time was always spent dogfighting each other. Here is a recount of one of those encounters. The mission controller first asked my buddy what plane he wanted to fly and he choose his fave...F/A-18. Then, he asked me. I had a knack of choosing odd planes, so I called out "A-10". I heard chuckles over the radio from both the controller and my opponent. We started with a head on pass. I called out "Guns, Guns, Guns". The Hornet replied "Roger"...what an idiot. I lit up my cannon, filling the Bug with milk bottle sized shells. I scored my first kill before we even completed the pass. 2 other times he tried the head on, this time rather than coming straight in, he tried bobbing and weaving. Same result. Then, on the fourth round, we tried advantage Hornet. He was BVR, about 8 miles out but coming up fast. I ducked into a cloud bank. I popped out too soon and he found me. I dove for the deck and pulled up with about 200 feet to spare. He lost me in the dirt and I scored another guns kill on his underbelly as I came back off the deck. Score so far....Warthog 4 - Bug 0 The fights went pretty much just like this until he discovered he had a serious vertical advantage over me. Once he went vertical...it was game over for the A-10. Out of 10 engagements, the A-10 came out on top 8 times.

Hey guys, I have been playing the X series since it came out. REALLY addicted to X3. Any X3 players out there?

I was at the hobby shop this morning and spent some time looking around and something caught my eye. 1/35th scale AH-1W with NTS upgrages Never built a helo before, so this will be a learning experience....cool that they do them in 35th scale to go with the armor

I am done with this game. I have been playing ARMA on and off since it came out and I have gotten to the point where all I can do is clean off my hands and walk away. The AI is borderline super human. To the point where it makes an almost unplayable and unenjoyable game. A perfect example....I am playing a mission where I am special ops, gotta blow up some armor at night. I manage to kill one guy and sneak up to a tank that is on the outskirts of the camp. I plant my satchel charge and set it for a 30 sec timer. In the meantime, I run around the backside of a rather large hill that overlooks the camp. Keep in mind that it is darker than dark out. I come around the other side of the hill completely silent, belly crawling up to the ridge overlooking the camp so I can see the chaos I just caused....when somehow I get spotted and get nailed in three shots....while crawling through tall grass with the higher ground and the cloak of darkness. Now how in the hell did the AI know I was there and kill me in three shots? Ridiculious. Anyone else had similiar problems?
