Hi lads... Like the new screens mate..yet again, great work....guitar is indeed right, I had replaced the whole folder!! doh!!! After all the Mods and addons id installed for this great game I should really have known better...lol... No wonder I was having probs but...it runs well now and looks great and makes a huge difference to the overall look of the game,very professional work.. Hi Tooner... Not sure if you are aware of this mate but I have a pretty dated System too, an 1800+ Athalon with 1024 DDR Memory and a good old Radeon 9800 SE and you can get away with quite a fair bit in first Eagles by adjusting the Graphics settings to a Higher Level or at least medium..i keep water and cockpit details at medium and a horizon at Normal and no shadows and limited Lens glare and my game runs well..sorry if you already know this but just wanted to let you know as I was pleasantly surprised as to what F.E. will let you away with!! lol.. Hi guys... Been playing Campaign Mode all yesterday and today and have been having a lot of fun, shot at an Albatros DV for what seemed like ages, registering hits but it took many many attack runs to finally shoot down!!! lol.. cool..then in another dogfight a Fokker D7 lost part of a wing and half of his prop then (like Peter has observed) he seemed to slow down so I went in for the kill and....he zoomed right up in the air very fast vertically, done some form of Immelmann Turn then shot my wing off!!! lol.. wow...Im impressed..they never did that before!! also noticed huge furballs over the trenches with my Fellow Wingmen getting very involved in the action whilst below a major German Tank Offensive was going on and I swooped down in my 'Red Devil' SE5 to Investigate and took out a couple of Jerry tanks to help the chaps on the ground..great stuff..another thing that i found aided my immersion in the new patched game was I was attacking an Albatros D3 and..bizarrely, after id shot him many many times, he was training light smoke and was riddled with Bullets with half his Prop missing he was flying about 50 feet from the ground and I closed in from the Kill when I went to see him go down with F8 and (this really scared and spooked me!!)..the Pilot was looking at me with his head turned! lol lol.. and he had a Black Tache!(Moustache!)..again, never seen that before..this spooked me so much that I did the Chivalrous thing and Wing Commander Rab 'Haggis' Watson let him go and did a Barrel Roll over him to salute his courage!!! Amazing stuff...Loved the game before and now loving it even more!!!! A Great Job TK, also loving being able to view all my Medals anytime..nice!!! Hi Peter... Thanks for your reply...Peter...your an absolute star mate..Thanks ever so much, I now have working Rockets and Bombs again..Woohoo!!! The AircraftObject.Ini is one of the few things id completely forgotten about and therefore never touched the one which was sitting in my Objects Folder!!!! Doh!!!! Followed your instructions and..Hey Presto... I downed a Balloon with a Rocket and also Bombed a Runway...Great!!! I can get back to re-doing my Campaigns again now..Thanks again for all your help and not only for me, but for the game in General, and on Behalf of the whole F.E. Community for your Ongoing Work...Well done...im glad I posted though as it may help someone else with the same problems down the line.. Have a great weekend... Hi all... Just tried flying the 'Junkers D1' on an offensive Mission with 'Bombs' selected on the Loadout Screen...I can see my 4 wee Bombs under my fuselage (I know many of the Bombs in game dont show but are still 'in' the Actual Aircraft) but.... I cant select them or drop them!!! Arghhhhhhhh!!! I want to try a Campaign but there doesnt seem much point if I cant do the Bombing Missions...Any Help Gratefully received!!!! lol... Hi guys.. Quick update...After last night mucking about with Weapons Editors, Inis and Data files I have to say this has got me well and truly stumped..I can see my Rockets and Bombs on Aircraft just as I always did but I cant seem to use them or select them in any manner...hmmmmmm..I have also went into my Controls to see if they have somehow changed keys for the various functions to use Bombs and Rockets but I cant see any difference in my Controls since Before I applied the latest patch...and yes I can select Bombs, Rockets and Hand Grenades on Loadout..lol.. Before the patch I had working Bombs and Le Preuir Rockets on all aircraft that were supposed to have them for certain types of missions and I could drop Bombs and Fire Rockets at will...cant figure out how that has now changed..ive even re-downloaded, and put in, all new weapons files (lods,Bmps etc) for all the WW1 Weapons I did have and new weapons data ini files too..wish I knew what to do next but have to admit im stumped..lol.. Apart from that all Aircraft are flying very well, Enemy A.I is better and seems more aggresive, a lot less crashes to Desktop and planes no longer spin uncontrollably or crash into the ground for no apparent reason! lol.. Any other F.E Players who have recently installed the new patch to a pre-E.P. Install experiencing similar problems with not being able to use Bombs and Rockets? Id love to know..perhaps one of you modding Gurus can come with a workable solution for me!!! Hi guys.. Well I wasnt sure whether to apply this patch in case it caused lots of hassle with all my mods but I backed everything up and took the plunge..mostly it seems to have vastly improved the gameplay from what i can see and has certainly made it more challenging, its also great now that you have a list of all the Medals you have earned, thanks TK for that.. The only problem I can see so far is that I cant seem to get my Bombs and Rockets back working after the patch..after some mucking about with the weapons Editor ive managed to see the rockets on my Aircraft but strangely I cant seem to fire them!! lol.. thats got me a mite confused!! No sign of any Bombs anywhere yet though..ill keep tinkering about with it as i dont like to get defeated so easily! Wingmen AI is definately improved from what I can see, they now seem to attack enemies a bit better and will bring some down quite often too (quite a new event for me!)..less spins and random crashing to the ground from planes i notice too, thats good...also Im getting less crashes to Desktop from Certain types of missions, thats also a good thing..I had to delete my old Pilot Record and campaign saves as it was all messed up after I applied the patch but thats no biggie, with the new Improvements I dont mid starting again.. I hope to get the Rockets and Bombs working by the end of today, if im very lucky!!! I tried applying Poppy's fixes to apply the Rockets to the Camel and it worked (well I can see them there but not use them so far!) although silly me forgot that it seemed to add ANOther 5 rockets as of course im not running the Expansion pack so I now have 10 rockets each wing and it looks mad! lol... Hi guys... Ive been playing First Eagles since it came out and I must say that its one of my favourite Games of all time..I have chosen, after listening to many discussions here and viewing many Posts on this Forum, not to go along the route of installing the Expansion Pack as I believe, at the moment anyway, that i would prefer to fly under the constaints of a Pre Expanded F.E. but without the problems (and indeed possible advantages!) the Expansion pack might bring..also this decision is based on the fact that I downloaded all the planes and terrains, enhancements, tweaks and add ons that all the excellent Modders and workers here have provided over the time...Perhaps work can continue on Pre Expansion pack new Aircraft(we have most,Far more than most WW1 Sims, only need a few now!)that can be used (albeit with a bit of work) on Post expansion F.E.? thanks so much in advance for all you Modellers here time and effort..I really do appreciate it..;0) I cant thank enough many of you guys who have provided me with lots of entertainment over these Months with your excellent work for this game, Peter (for his constant and contiouous improvements!) Tilspin, Firecage, Capun and Charles, Poppy,Bort, Mr.Craig and the many many others who have made this game as good as it is today..I salute you all as I have absolutely no Modding or design skills whatsoever myself!! lol... Now making this choice NOT to get the E.P. means I have some Problems regarding certain things...lol... reduced Stalls (I can live with that!)but I would also dearly love and pre expansion working R.E.8 Aircraft to fly as its one of the few missing from the pre expanded F.E as it stands...My wish list continues below..lol..the R.E.8 is one of the few really important Aircraft missing from Pre Expansion F.E.That and the Hanriot. A Desert Terrain, for those Lawrence of Arabia type scenarios!!! An Italian/Austrian Front Terrain, A Somme Terrain,Ypres Terrain,Mons Terrain, Paschendale Terrain, a Russian Front Terrain, Tannenberg anyone? Hee Hee..any of these Terrains would be a great help to overall immersion in F.E. Some more early War Aircraft,Ive seen the post about the Voisin but I was thinking of a Taube, a Bleriot X1, and perhaps a Caudron? (if not, and i have no modelling Skill myself!..does anyone fancy a new project?) I love the F.E. Community and know just how talented some of you guys are with FMs.. Hi Guys... Thanks for all your Input and Opinions on the Expansion Pack..Im noy saying I will NEVER purchase it, was just holding off for a while until significant imrovements were available, both Peter and Tailspin make some excellent and very Valid Points, Im interested to see that there are many more improvements than I had known off or invisiged in the E.P. Hmmmmm..still in two minds a bit though!!!... still I do love my Pre Expansion pack F.E. and only have room for one Install at the moment until I purchase my New External Hardrive in the summer, thus relieving my Eternal lack of space problems!! lol..its great to have an educated discussion here with fellow Virtual Pilots..all very civilised!!!! lol.. as ive said many times..great game, great community, great Forum and very helfull insights into opinions and improvement areas... Thanks to for pointing out some of the many unsing heros of this community Peter, those guys you mentiones have of course also made significant modding and skinning improvements to make an already good game great..love it..Ive recently managed to take ownership of an XBox 360 and Call of Duty 2,3,and 4 and next on my Hit list is Medal of Honor Airborne, Ace Combat and Blazing Angels although I still PC game on Medal of Honor Spearhead, Call of Duty 2, Battlefield 1942 (with BG42 and Forgotten Hope) but I still always come back to Strike Fighters, first Eagles and my WW2 Instal, which i love!!! I also Retro game often with the Mame, C64 Emulation, Virtual Pinball, Sega Master System and Mega Drive, Atari 2600 and Vectrex Gaming and of course the good old Spectrum so you could so at 40 im definately a Gamer from the 'Old School' who loves all forms of gaming and games in general since 1980 and my first Atari VCS!!!! lol.. feel old now!!! Hee Hee!!! My new 360 sits proudly beside my PS2 which I still play often..(Still trying to complete Battlefield 2!) Thanks for all the thoughfull advice and opinions lads..ill get that R.E.8 yet!! Hi guys... Ive noticed a strange thing, in my oiver a year playing this wonderful game ive noticed that ive never yet been awarded a Medal for operations flying for Germany, France or the U.S.A.? Im not sure why this should be, perhaps i have a corrupted file somewhere? Flying for The Brits ive had many Medals, from the Victoria Cross Downwards but never for any other Nation..I have Version 3 of the Medal Pack for Strike Fighters installed in my S.F. Gold and my World War 2 Installs and they work just fine but id love to get some Medals on F.E. Flying for the Germans, French and U.S.? Any Ideas why they arent available to me? Thanks for all your help in advance lads..still loving this game..Havent managed to get the Cash together as of yet for the Expansion as i was recently paid off and the kids Christmas comes first but... I hope to soon as I really would like to fly the R.E.8 at some point!!! Hopefully it wont be too hard to fly..dont think there ever was a pre expansion FM of the R.E.8 posted...ah well... Hi guys... Im wondering if someone can help me witha problem in having with my seperate WW2 Instal of Strike Fighters Gold..the game runs well and ive downloaded most of the WW2 Aircraft available on Combat Ace but in some of my planes (most but not all!) the Pilots/Gunners/Navigators look like modern Jet Fighter Pilots instead of WW2 looking Pilots and it just looks wrong!! im not sure how to fix this or where to find a Generic WW2 looking Pilot and where to put him so that the Sim will recognise it and use it in all my Aircraft from WW2? Maybe I ned to replace a Pilot file located somewhere, I just cant find one! lol..Any help on doing this gratefully Appreciated!! Thanks in advance.. Rab Watson Fife Scotland

Hi again guys... Thanks for the replies and help..Ive already got quite a few pilot files (BMPs inis and LODs) in my Aircraft folder that mainly the Luftwaffe planes seem to use, they are working fine..I think its the problem you mentioned Tailspin with the Individual planes Data files and entries under 'Crew'... some say pilot figure 'No2' and other names for Pilots not in my Aircraft Folder Pilot files and the like and i cant seem to find that pilot lod file anywhere so does that mean I would have to go through every planes data file with a Modern looking Pilot and change the Crew entry to say 'Luftwaffe Early Pilot' or the like? was hoping that there might be an easier way to do it that was less time consuming like finding where the 'No2' or whatever pilot BMP file resides and replacing it with one of the WW2 pilot files i do already have in Aircraft Folder? Perhaps i will just have to go through all the Aircraft Data files in the folders and check the Crew Entry and change them..ah well.. lol.. Thanks for the help...i tried to make an Anti ship mission(you are right, not a current option on F.E.) of sorts but didnt work, think its beyond my limited knowledge! lol.. have used the Schukert and tried Bombing Missions over Flanders terrain as well as armed Recon and Recon but still no sign of the Warships in the Water anywhere (i followed your advice longest and changed the availablity to very Common, thanks) If Someone with more skill and knowledge of F.E does manage to write a small Anti Ship style bombing Mission against the Iron Duke or Repulse id be most grateful... hi Guys.. This is probably a stupid question but what type of Mission would you have to fly over the Flanders Terrain in order to attack the Repulse and Iron Duke?
