I have some questions RE: employing LGB's and pods
marvinblue replied to marvinblue's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'm in WoE. I can't work it out either. Maybe if I got rid of the jamming sytems? Also interesting to note is the ACMI pod; this shows up in the configuration that I want the laser pod to, that is 1 of on the right hand side. I can't get the ACMI pod on either of the Sidewinder stations. -

I just thought of something... my Hornet is an A model. Does this only work on a C model? If so, what about loading a Nitehawk onto an A? I've also had the same trouble with this weapon. (Weapon #869 of the weapondata.ini, once the weapons pack is loaded.) -

I changed the date to 2007, but on the R.H.S. Sparrow station (ID 14), apart from the various Air to Air stuff, I can only load 1 x ACMI pod, or 2 X AN/ALQ-99 Tactical Jamming Systems, both the high and low versions. (One for each sparrow station). I think it's not going to work..... -

Some help adding the F-16N skins to WoE
marvinblue posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hi all! I've recently downloaded the F-16C, as well as the skins for the 421st FS and the F-16N. The 421st and the F-16C work fine, but I'm having some small glitches with the Aggressor skins. I've made a copy of the F-16A folder, renamed it F-16N and dumped all the files in there, mainly because I like the radar better on the Block 10, which was actually in the real A/C, but with a Block 30 airframe and pit. The main bone of contention is that I can't load any weapons onto the A/C. When I get to the loadout screen, there are no stores avaliable. The only thing I can fire is the A/C's gun, which makes for some good dogfighting!! Everything else works pretty well, I can fly it and all the custom screens load, I just can't load any stores. Anyway, I was having a look at the files between the three and I noticed that all three have an *.out, an *.lod, but only the F-16 A and C have the *.ini.qmd file, the N misses out. Is this what drives the loadout screen? If so, how do I make a custom one, or how do I modify an existing one? Thanks heaps! -

I've done it! I can take off from carriers in WoE!
marvinblue posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I downloaded the CVN-75 by Digital-Overload and installed it as per his instructions. I also got my hands on Kreelin's mission editor and the help file by Streakeagle. I followed the readme in Kreelin's zip folder, as well as the help file and I kept crashing into either the carrier or the ocean. I was just about to start pulling my hair out, when I noticed in the mission editior my flight didn't have the check box marked 'take off' checked. I did this and it bought up an assign box with the carrier's name in it. I highlighted it and assigned the flight to the carrier. Now I can take off! Yay! The carrier even animates the blast shield and catapault! If you release the brakes the A/C will be catapulted with max AB, just remember to throttle up as soon as you're airborne. So the moral is: get the mission editor and physically check the take-off box, so the assign box pops up. Also, at the top of the waypoint page, your start point co-ordinates are there. Just to be sure, make sure the A/C is facing the same way as the carrier. I've also created a simple strike mission from a carrier. If anyone would like it, I'll paste the code for it. You'll obviously need a carrier and a A/G capable Navy Aircraft. I used the Hornet, but you should be able to use anything. The mission editor makes it really easy, thanks heaps Kreelin!! -

Cool! Got the weapons working which are AIM-9's only, which is fine. Next qestion; how do you get the computer to pick callsigns? Does this have to do with the nations file? -

I've set the year for 1997 and also modified the LOADOUT.ini for the Hornet to show up on the left Sparrow station: // Station 1 = LeftInnerWingStation (FT, BOMB) // Station 2 = RightInnerWingStation (FT, BOMB) // Station 3 = LeftInnerWingStation2 (EOGR, ARM) // Station 4 = RightInnerWingStation2 (EOGR, ARM) // Station 5 = LeftOuterWingStation (FT, BOMB) // Station 6 = RightOuterWingStation (FT, BOMB) // Station 7 = LeftOuterWingStation2 (EOGR, ARM, SAHM) // Station 8 = RightOuterWingStation2 (EOGR, ARM, SAHM) // Station 9 = LeftOuterWingStation3 (IRM, AHM) // Use stations 9 through 12 for quad IRM/AHM // Station 10 = RightOuterWingStation3 (IRM, AHM) // Use stations 9 through 12 for quad IRM/AHM // Station 11 = LeftOuterWingStation4 (IRM, AHM) // Use stations 9 through 12 for quad IRM/AHM // Station 12 = RightOuterWingStation4 (IRM, AHM) // Use stations 9 through 12 for quad IRM/AHM // Station 13 = CenterlineStation (FT) // Station 14 = LeftSparrowStation (SAHM, EP, AHM, LP, NP) // Station 15 = RightSparrowStation (SAHM, EP, AHM) // Station 16 = LeftSidewinderStation (IRM, AHM) // Station 17 = RightSidewinderStation (IRM, AHM) As well as the FA-18a_DATA.ini: [LeftSparrowStation] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=14 StationGroupID=4 StationType=SEMI_RECESSED AttachmentPosition=-1.3,-2.418,-0.95 AttachmentAngles=0.0,-0.5,0.0MissileRollAngle=45.0EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-2.0 LoadLimit=500 DiameterLimit=0.3 AllowedWeaponClass=SAHM,EP,AHM,NP,LP AttachmentType=NATO,USNMinExtentPosition=MaxExtentPosition= Yep. -

Hi all! Just a quick update, mainly for Flanker562: your code for the Sniper and Lightning pods didn't work. I think I'm destined not to drop LGB's from my Hornet..... I'll just load more Mavericks!! -

Question about Bunyap's Weapons Pack
marvinblue posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hi all! I've downloaded this twice from the downloads section, both times it wouldn't unzip saying it was corrupt or invalid. Is there somewhere else I might be able to obtain this from? Thanks! -

Help with modifying files in WOE
marvinblue posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hi all!! I've recently accquired a copy of this fantastic sim and have patched it and have NATO fighters one and two running on it from column.5. I also recently downloaded the RAAF F-4E decal package by Nosecone. I've got the decals running alright, but I'm having trouble adding the Sqn and pilot details to the game's files. From the intructions I guess this process is based on Strike Fighters, not WOE. All the folders like Flight folder and pilotdata folder I can open in notepad but when I modified them the game crashed and I had to reload it. Is there any way of opening these folders and modifying them? Thanks! -

Help with modifying files in WOE
marvinblue replied to marvinblue's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hi there. I couldn't get this done in my game. Both the Sqn data and Nation data are in a file called missiondata, which is located in the flight folder. The missiondata file is a security catalog, apparently it can only be opened with a crypto shell extensior. I can view it with notepad, but if I modify it, it crashes the game and I have to reinstall it. -

Help with modifying files in WOE
marvinblue replied to marvinblue's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Cool! Thanks for the feedback. I think I had issues modifiying an *.ini file. Can I just open these with notepad and add the appropriate lines, or do I need some other program to open the file first?
