WOV - No ground battles

Hey! I've been playing WoV for a while now but I always wondered about the absence of ground battles during my missions. I remember publisher notes describing the engine as being capable of simulating large ground battles, but I actually never saw one. Is this a bug? A missing feature? Cut in the last minute before releasing the game? It would add a lot more feeling to the sim.
