About rockmedic109

  1. Hardware Question

Just re-installed WOFF onto the Samsung T1. It works great. Quite a bit of improvement over the load times of the internal HDD. I've only played two missions but the load times were about 12-20 seconds {at a guess}.
  2. Hardware Question

Well, I haven't loaded WOFF on it yet. But I have loaded Dragon Age Inquisition. The load times on the game are MUCH faster. I purchased a Samsung T1. Specs indicated it was the fastest of the portable SSDs. If there is a bottleneck from USB 3.0, it is still faster than the HDD I have in the laptop. Thanks Hellshade. I usually look up things over at the SimHQ boards but for some reason I was unable to post anything even though I was logged in. I would hit the New Thread button and the page would just refresh.
  3. Hardware Question

Thanks Hellshade. My laptop does have a USB 3.0 {Two of them}. I didn't know there was a USB 3.0 when I bought it. I went ahead and pulled the trigger anyway. I was running out of space. I figured if I was going to get an external anyway, might as well.
  4. Hardware Question

I play WOFF on a 3.5 year old laptop. If I installed WOFF on a USB3.0 External SSD, would the load times be any better than what I have now with it installed on my HDD?
  5. OT: You Play The Hand You Are Dealt

You have my best wishes, thoughts and prayers. Attitude is a very important aspect of fighting cancer. Go into this knowing you are going to win. Give your cancer a name. A funny little name that you cannot possibly be afraid of. Mine was Calamari. Long story, but it was fitting. Perhaps calling it a BE 2 or Quirk might be fitting given this forum. I can't think of any WW I plane that is less scary....unless you're it's pilot. Smile when you hear any noise during your treatments. That is the sound of your "Calamari" screaming in agony as it dies a painful, torturous, much deserved death. Chemo is not for wimps. If you go this route and the side effects are bad, remember that the "Calamari" is having an even worse time as it dies it's agonizing death. Best Wishes Stephen E Hood
  6. Good new for XP and old vid card pilots!

Windows 7 64. 8GB of RAM. I was really worried about the CPU being too slow {and it still might be with a bunch of planes buzzing around}. But I'm optimistic.
  7. Good new for XP and old vid card pilots!

I was only able to get to the first training mission this morning before work. I ran it on a laptop with a 2.2GHz 2670 CPU and a NVidia GTX 560M. I had 5-5-2-2-5 {I think it is in that order} graphics settings and 1920x1080 resolution. Granted this is with just 1 plane in the air, but I got 60 fps. I think my elderly laptop will be able to run this game. It was visually STUNNING.
  8. The requirements thread

I might be out of luck. My CPU is a i7-2670QM......only 2.2Ghz. And my graphics card is a GTX 560M but I think it might be fast enough. On one site, it looks slightly faster than a 640. Does anybody know if I'll be able to run it?
