  1. "Flying Fury" out of print?

Olham & 33Lima, As RAFL says Flying Fury is available via abebooks, in fact if you are able to access the link below to the uk abebooks site you may find cheaper versions (postage wise) than the USA site: I have copied the link after searching for Flying fury. http://www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/SearchResults?an=james+mccudden&bt.x=0&bt.y=0&tn=flying+fury
  2. P4 & P3 Question

UKW, HW & Olham, I believe that P4 will be a vast improvement on P3 so I will not be retaining P3 on my system, although I will still have P3 & HITR saved in the original P3 box. But if I do not like P4 (oh look a flying pig) I will just uninstall it and reinstall P3. I was merely "thinking outside the box" for those that would wish to keep both versions on their machine at the same time. I personally cannot see the need to though.
  3. P4 & P3 Question

Or anyone who wished to still use BHAH could set their machine up with 2 partitions and have the machine dual boot into a partition that is 60gb and uses xp for older games, and the rest of the hdd is set up for win7. That way all the information for BHAH could exist on xp and all the information could exist on win7 without the 2 ever meeting, or you could have 2 hdd's in your machine with the separate operating systems on.. Just a thought, and it may not work - someone else can try it though, I am happy with a single booting win7 (plus I do not have my xp disk any more - it went to my dad with my old machine.
  4. The "pending release" of P4...

Hellshade, Well said, and a sentiment I agree with 100%.
  5. Off Subject

Mikeymead, No problem m8, a friendly tip when using quotes , if you leave the word quote in, and type under it you will get the
  6. Off Subject

Carrick, in my area (lancashire, uk) the price of a litre is £1.32.7, that is £5.02 per US gallon (3.785 Litre) or £6.02 per imperial gallon (4.54 litre). That works out at either $8.15 for a US gallon or $9.55 for an imperial gallon. You americans are so lucky with your gas prices to give you an idea, to fill my car up (citreon C3) which holds 47 litres of petrol or 10.35 gallons it would cost me £62.36 with the petrol costing £1.32.7 per litre, that works out at $99.01. At the present american cost of petrol per US gallon it would cost me $49.64 or £31.27 You are so fortunate. Of course the price of petrol is so expensive in this country because years ago the government managed to change the pricing of petrol from gallons to litres, and also most of the cost of a litre of petrol is made up of a tax called fuel duty, which then has v.a.t. (value added tax) slapped on top of it.
  7. The Bertangles Aerodromes

Shredward, Vimy ridge was taken on the 9th April 1917 wasn't it? What is is the weather like in late August/early September, as I am possibly going over to see the war grave of my great-great uncle who died on the 19th August 1917 at Ypres, and is buried in Brandhoek new military cemetary no 3.
  8. Redpiano, CFS3 his a known cheat for the Ai where it has them flying at the empty weight (no pilot, fuel or ammo) and you flying at a full war weight (pilot, fuel and ammo included). If you download 33Lima's AI empty weight mod and install it he has rectified the promblem. As to the rest, it is just a case of practice, practice and more practice. Just remember not ever sortie in WW1 yielded a victory for the aces. Hope this helps
  9. @ The Devs

Hi, Just a quick question for the devs, apologies if this has been already asked and answered. Have you found a way to modify the CFS3 code so that if an upper wing mounted lewis is being used it can be lowered so that you can fire upwards with it in P4? By the way keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing P4 in the next 2 weeks.
  10. RAFL, I am impressed that you have managed to last so long with a card that came out in 2008 (I am even more surprised that the 9800 is only 3-4 years old), I am also surprised that the GTX 460 is $144 as the cheapest I have found it for in the UK is £110 or $173.50. As to the release date for P4, you should know by now it is 2 weeks away. lol Enjoy your new card and let us know how much better it performs than the 9800.
  11. FS-WW1 ----Where Can You Buy It?

Dale57, I know what you mean, I bought CFS3 in 2001, played it once, didn't like it and it sat on the shelf gathering dust until I stumbled across OFF while doing a google search for WW1 flight sims in 2008. I requested a copy of phase 2 and enjoyed it so much that when phase 3 (the current one) came out I bought it. OFF only uses a few files from CFS3 as a base and the rest is a large (15gb) sim that includes various squadrons and enables the pllayer rto have a career lasting from the early days of 1915 right up until the armstice (if he can survive that long). Also OFF is available for $20+shipping, and has an excellent expansion (Hat in the Ring) for $10 available as a download.
  12. FS-WW1 ----Where Can You Buy It?

Dale57, I cannot offer any help with FSWW1, but if you are looking for a good WW1 flight sim and either have CFS3 or don't mind buying a copy of CFS3 I can strongly recommend Over Flander Fields (OFF). It is a complelte mod for CFS3 and covers the whole war. Below is a link to the website for the sim listing the system requirements. http://www.overflandersfields.com/sysreq.htm The Combat Ace forum for Over Flanders Fields is a friendly one and people are always willing to help newcovmers and anyone who is having problems with either their sim or computer.
  13. OT-private rant

Von Baur, I also saw that thread but saw it as Hauksbee just showing how attitudes have changed over the years with regards to smoking. I have never smoked, and resisted peer pressure at school to "try one", as it has never appealed to me, but my parents smoked, my dad gave up on the 6th January 1986 aged 42 after having a health scare the previous summer that turned out to be unrelated to his smoking, my mum gave up on the advice of the doctor when she was expecting me, but in times of extreme stress or shock she will smoke for a couple of weeks and then not smoke again until the next period of stress/shock hits - the last time she smoked was august 1992 when a family friend died unexpectedly of a massive heart attack when he was aged 48. Both my grand parents and all my aunts on my dads side smoked and all advised me not to start, which has probably helped me to resist any temptation.
  14. Incredible piece of Flightsim movie making

Olham, Thank you for the advice, if you could put the graphics config settings down as text I would greatly appreciate it as the lovely graphic you did for the graphics setting is too small and blurred for me to read either on screen or when printed out. I have never used fraps for anything, as I do not make movies I can't see the point in using it. Also I have the maximum fps locked at 50, would it help if I lowered it to say 35, as I get low framerates over airfields (especially the german ones for some reason)?
  15. Promotion Idea

UKW, I have just been on facebook to join the page, and found I joined a long time ago (so I am as guilty as most), but the last time someone posted something was 21st november 2011, with the result that the page is now scheduled to be archived - so come on people lets show our support and start posting on the page to at least keep it open.
  16. 33Lima, I started a campain today flying a sopwith pup with 54 squadron in march 1917 - the first patrol I did I discovered when I had taken off that the rest of the flight were stationary on the ground, after further investigation I discovered that none of them had propellors (perhaps explaining the inability to take off), after ending the flight, and advancing time and trying a 3 further flights with the same result (also advancing time between each one). I exited OFF, and started to disable the installed mods, trying OFF each time starting with Bletchley's sector mod. It was only when I diabled your AI weight mod that the rest of the flight were able to take off. I then reenabled you mod with the same result Thinking it was an anomaly with 54 squadron I then started a campaign with 66 squadron with the same results. I was wondering if this could be linked to the Halberstadt issue. For the record I was running (in this order) Active Sector January-April 1917 Ai Empty weight mod HPW Damage mod 1.25 Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  17. 33LIMA, I think I have solved the problem (at least on my first flight). I uninstalled and then reinstalled the game and that seems to have fixed the problem (at least for 46 in April 1917). I will have a further look over the weekend and report back to you. I will try other early war (1915-1916) aircraft as well. Thank you for your prompt and patient assistance in trouble shooting this problem.
  18. HPW, I normally fly in a squadron that has poor or average rating. I will try to find a pup squadron that has an elite rating and let you know the results later.
  19. Pol, Ah, that might also explain the problem as I have the AI set to less aggressive (I hate the low level "stall and climb tactic". I will amend the aggressiveness of the AI and give it another go. Really looking forward to P4, and if it is as half as big a leap as P3 was over P2 it will be even better. One question though, as we have had the first preview video does that mean that P4 will be in our hands before christmas (trying to get a timeline based on the preview videos from P3), lol Seriously though, devs, keep up the good work both prerelease and with any patches that you feel the game will need afterwards.
  20. 33LIMA, Thank you for the testing, in reply to both yours and HPW's questions: 1) I always lead my flight. 2) I have ammo and fuel selected, but I never alter it from 100% fuel. 3) I do not have HPW's FM Mods installed. 4) I never wait for the AI to start their rollout before taking off, I always rotate fully all the joystick movements, start engine run up to full power and takeoff. 5) I did wait before starting my engine run and taking off for about 30 seconds and the AI planes never moved and when I flew back to the airfield after I had got 4 miles out I noticed that they did not seem to have moved. 6) When I had taken off and flown outside of the range of the labels showing the aircraft information (ie. blue for allied), the white bogey labels never showed up, but the white dot showed on the TAC. When I flew back to the airfield the labels never showed in either colour (white or blue). The only thing I can think of that might have made a difference (and it sounds stupit), is that I had altered my framerate in cfs.xml from 60 to 40 before I started the game. I will do further testing tonight and let you know the results.
  21. 33LIMA, Thank you I would be very interested as I thought it may be a problem with my install of OFF (or the way I had installed the mods). I await your reply with interest.
  22. Hauksbee, I use cable ties to keep everything above the desk tidy (under the desk is a different matter), the 6 usb connecters I have above the desk I have used a zipped cable tie to connect then together and not clipped the end of the cable tie off, but have put it under the paper trays and printer stand so that it is neat and tidy and more importantly stays in one place.
  23. Wishes

    1) Silent hunter 3 updated graphics, wolf packs, and fix the damn weather bug which invariably means the wind is blowing at least 7 metres per second so that you can't use the deck gun, or even worse 15 metres per second and with heavy rain/fog for 3-4 weeks on the trot. 2) Nascar3, Nascar Legends and GP Legends with new graphics.(all originally Papyrus games, I think) 3) B-17 the mighty eighth 4) Decent Rugby game (both League and Union. 5) Red Baron (we need another decent WW1 flight sim).
  24. All, I am looking for some help in the correct location to install JSGME for both HPW Rear Guns mod, currently in C:\OBDsoftware\mods and JSGME for bletchley's mods during the war (quiet sector, active sector etc., HPW Damage mod 1.25 and 33Lima's AI empty weight mod all of the above from bletchleys onward are currently in C:\OBDsoftware\cfsww1overflandersfields\mods. The order I have them installed is as follows: HPW rearguns in C:\OBDsoftware running in its own install of JSGME. Bletchlelys sector mods (currently running Jan-April 1917 active as I am in a 56 squadron campaign in april 1917 in france running in C:\OBDsoftware\cfsww1overflandersfields\mods - in the JSGME install in that directory 33 LIMA's AI Empty weight mod running in C:\OBDsoftware\cfsww1overflandersfields\mods - in the JSGME install in that directory HPW Damage mod 1.25 running in C:\OBDsoftware\cfsww1overflandersfields\mods - in the JSGME install in that directory I am unsure if the above mods are working correctly or are in the correct order to run correctly, also do I need both instances of JSGME running when I start the game or is just activating the mods sufficient and I can not bother opening JSGME each time I play the game? Your help is much appreciated.
