A.I. Controlled Aircraft
SidDogg replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
yah..... There's an UberAI mod at this site: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=2673 ....other than that, there's not much else that can be done. I dogfights, the AI seems to manage afterburner and fuel as well as energy. But you see for your self..... -

squadron callsign
SidDogg replied to F4Lover's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
If you have speakers and an adequate sound card, you can do it using Microsoft Sound Recorder. just go into the Accesories Menu and go to Entertainment. Then, just start recording! [good luck wit that ] -
AHHHHHHH (dee dee-deeeee ) yaaaah, um..... go into the options menu and look at the controls section. lower the sensitivity to 0 (trust me) as well as the deadzone. See if that don't work for ya

squadron callsign
SidDogg replied to F4Lover's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, first, you would have to make all the wave sounds that will depict the actions of "Sundown" flight using a simple recording utility. Next, using the .CAT Extractor utility found at this site, you must access the cat files in the Flight and Speech directories and extract thenecessary .ini, .lst, and .str files for in-game text. Then, there's a little .ini dancing to do---CALLSIGNSUS.LST, MISSIONCONTROL.INI, SPEECHSYSTEM.INI, SPEECHTEXT.STR---these files must be edited to accomodate your new type of callsign. MISSIONCONTROL.INI--- [Callsign] NumCallsignSet=7<-----change from 6 to 7. CallsignPerSet=5 NumGroundCallsign=12 NumFACCallsign=1 NumTACCCallsign=1 CALLSIGNSUS.LST--- [CallsignSet007]<----paste this in with your other callsign sets. Sundown SPEECHTEXT.STR, on the other hand, is a far more vast and complex file which would take too much time to put in here. However, when you access it, first thing you will find after all the capital-letter identifiers is all the in-flight text regarding the name of you callsign. Add Sundown to this list, albeit you'll have to create it for every member of your flight (Sundown Leader, Sundown One, Sundown Two, etc.). After that, hop into SPEECHSYSTEM.INI and take a look at the corresponding prefixes and suffixes for the different wave sounds regarding calllouts for different callsigns. You will have to adhere to these when you save and rename your wave sounds on order to fit them into this intricate mosaic of sounds. Well, that's it. Arduous task, tall order, but you'll be just fiiine GO GET 'EM TIGER!!!! -
You're flyin tha F-100 and F-4, huh? I'm here ta tell you that you are not experiencing "a/c on ice" or any major defect. What you are going through is an extremely accurate representation of flight dynamics involving swept wings, especially low swept wings with high chords. What happens is, you're movin at a pretty good clip, and your wings have sufficient lift to fly. However, when you enter a hard maneuver, your wings aren't straight wings, so they will stall much more easily, especially at high angles of attack. When this happens, it will create oscillations to the effect of a stall condtion known as "Adverse Yaw". This means airflow dies on the high side of the wing, causing to roll the opposite way automatically in order to gain more lift. The best thing to do is to not pull so hard in turns, but rather stay around your corner speed, pull in a way that keeps your speed up (The Super Sabre's is about 400kts). Another way to counter this effect is to use your rudder accordingly in turns, especially lower-speed ones. Beware, though, using too much rudder can also bleed energy, thus causing you to stall anyway =\ (This is especially important when flying the F-4). Also, make wiser use of your afterburner. Don't use it at high angles of attack at lower speeds, as you are only doing more to decrease your inertia by fighting against gravity. Use it in shallow maneuvers, and if you MUST use it at high angles of attack, use it at HIGHER SPEEDS ONLY!!! So, next time you fly, keep these points in mind.....you'll be proficient at Strike Figthers in no time

SidDogg replied to jtin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
HEY! QUICK BUT URGENT QUESTION!!! I've made my own terrain for my upcoming mod inside a 256-color bitmap, and according to this thread, all I have to do is open Terrain Editor and import the bitmap to the height field, and VOILA! the height field is created as soon as I save. However, when I attempt to import the bitmap, the height field does not show, nor does it save properly. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!! -
