Wyvern Video
Hinchinbrooke replied to SkippyBing's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
And which hopefully should be out within the next week or so................... providing I can work out why her AA batteries don't want to work post patch. Not that they weren't idiosyncratic beforehand (TW games and naval gunnery................ a match not made in heaven). -

Dunno!,............something to do with Grimsby Town being s**te at football, perchance? -
Anyone want to Beta test the Wyvern?
Hinchinbrooke replied to SkippyBing's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, given the Wyvern was essentially a strike aircraft, not too surprising that her dogfighting capabilities leave something to be desired. Now, if only we had a Sea Venom to get this Suez thing rolling. -

Yeah, we had the Wurzels also. Don't remember much about that. I think I went. Gary Glitter was pretty spectacular (as opposed to now). China Crisis good too. Just spent most of the time bopping with friends desperately trying to get girls interested. Long story short.......... not many girls were interested.

No cures that particularly work, other than loads of coffee and exercise (if you can manage it). Years ago, just prior to seeing Slade, I remember once drinking half a bottle of vodka (with orange) on the inane premise that I wouldn't have to buy drinks at the Student Union.................. and therefore waste time in drunken, sodden queues for beer at the various bars. Suffice to say, I was pretty much numb for a couple of days. Headache of the century. Won't try that again.

Appetite whetter !

Aside from the Vixens on Hermes........... what struck me was the sequence of Scimitars landing. Yikes! Such a large heavy plane on such a small flight deck! No wonder so many were lost during operations. And apparently, Victorious was lending aircraft, as some of the Scimitars in the take-off shots have her identification code. -

No I haven't. Any good? Perhaps I'll do a YouTube search and see if there are any clips. -

They blanked out the forward port 4.5" guns, removed some of the port AA and extended the deck a little to accommodate the 'angle'................ as well as rearranging the arrestor cables aft. So nothing drastic, but I'd have to add something to the edge of the deck......................... or more likely, just do a quick paint job and move the cables. -

Skippy, Any chance they'll be ported for TW? Would definitely encourage me to create a post-1964 version of Eagle............. angled flight deck, Type 984 radar, Seacat, etc., etc............. you know the routine. RN's finest fixed-wing carrier. -

I really don't have the time to take on any updates for most of the old stuff. Put them down as juvenilia...... for now at least. -

A final shot of Eagle before testing gets underway. Mapping and painting ain't my (piano)forte..... so a couple of slight glitches I've been fighting..... will remain glitches. Along with a bit of mesh I wish I'd built differently before the painting...... but hey, I know now........ and I'm not going back, as I don't have the enthusiasm....... or time. -

Skippy, Right now, given the plan I'm working from, she'll be as completed in 1951 (with axial deck). If I have the time and there's interest, I might come up with a flight deck scheme to represent her as she was at Suez. For now though, she'll have to serve in her earlier guise. -

A question about carrier operations in JT
Hinchinbrooke replied to redrooster's topic in Jet Thunder
For the voices, I'd go with authentic voices in the native languages. If you're going for authenticity, that would seem to be the way forward (subtitles work well enough in Il-2). As for the Argentine carrier........................ as she never did much during the conflict, it hardly seems necessary to focus on flight deck operations/cat launches. -

Crusader, Thanks. I accidentally deleted part of the paint file last night, but have managed to get things back together. Moral of the story: don't talk to your cat as you negotiate files! -
