New IL2 game
SopmodMikeFour replied to xclusiv8's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
Ah them long flights doing bombing missions in the HE-111 or JU-88's. Lets get off this subject before I reinstall it. -
New IL2 game

I have a quad and I did see significant improvement. One thing that bugs me though is on medium settings and even at short range while in formation the markings on their aircraft would disappear and at other times could be seen.At 50 yards or so it seems all aircraft markings disappear from the planes.Since there is no distance slider I am wondering how this can be fixed. -

For those of us with multi-core computers I found a fix on the 1c website. This has helped my flying.Barely any stutter now.I was able to fly the 2nd mission in the UK campaign and got into a fight with Stukas as they were dive bombing a convoy. No lag for me at all on medium settings although over land the stutter was there but barely. Not really noticeable.Try it out. After editing that line save the file and go fly. -
New IL2 game

I played a multitude of addon mods and campaigns that were great. The mediterranean campaigns and others. They did improve on the issues to a point. -
Might be some truth to it.Back in the early 90's one of my older brothers used to rave about microwaves. When you would turn one on he would step far away from it and comment on how dangerous it was.He said the same things as printed in this article.

the campaign model in CFS3 was simply outstanding and I loved the RPG aspect but its damage modeling was horrendous. As the aircraft took hits you would gradually lose control of the aircraft a little at a time until you simply could not turn at all or went into an uncontrollable dive and crashed. It was ridiculous. -
Looking good I cant' wait to get my hands on this.I much prefer conflicts like this.WW2 and other wars have been done to death.I love COIN aircraft and the Pucara is one of my favorites.

Saitek X52 Input settings
SopmodMikeFour replied to xclusiv8's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
The profiles for the X-52 pro will not work for the regular X-52.They are different.you are better off going to the IL-2 forum and getting the joystick settings that Oleg,CrazyIvan and others have posted there.I generally use CrazyIvans axis settings for the X-52. -
Oleg leaves 1c
SopmodMikeFour replied to Dagger's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
I'm a big IL-2 fan, especially after the code was cracked and the mod community was able to produce planes that the makers of the sim refused to make. However in its release state,Cliffs Of Dover is a total mess and a big fail.I am not surprised that Oleg left 1C. -

This is the reason that software should not be released at the beta stage simply to generate money sooner leaving us to be the beta testers until they are able to release patches.I am very displeased with its current state. Its is more of a mess then IL-2 was when it was released. On top of that there are only 2 very linear campaigns and you cannot choose a dynamic campaign or select which plane you want to fly like you could in an IL-2 campaign. For me that's a big thumbs down.I expect the same kind of IL-2 campaigns or better. At the moment I am not at all impressed with it.I have a Phenom 9850,GTS 250 with 1gb of ram and 6GB of corsair memory and this sim stutters even on medium settings. -
RIP Charlie Sheen (or is it good riddance?)
SopmodMikeFour replied to serverandenforcer's topic in The Pub
Over the last few weeks I can't believe the media has wasted so much coverage on this worthless moron.Even Fox wasted time on this story. -
Yeah,I really liked the RWS when I was a kid.I quality rifle for sure.I had best luck with the flat head match pellets for hunting. They had better knock down power. The pointed hunting pellets just passed through most the time and didn't kill varmints.I should get another RWS.It really sucks that gun ownership there is pretty non-existent but its good to know that even though there is a long road of red tape, its still possible to own some.

Those are nice.Pellet guns make for some fun in the backyard when you can't get out to gun range to shoot the real thing or to teach the kids on before transitioning them to real firearms. Its a shame the UK is so strict.Had no idea that they regulate the FPS on air guns over there but can't say I am surprised.I used tro have an RWS Diana pellet rifle.Killed a lot of nasty pigeons with it back in the day.

Calling all Ace Combat pilots, 2011... We're Back!
SopmodMikeFour replied to ShinKazama88's topic in The Pub
Graphics are nice but those FPS games in the sky never really did do it for me.Tried Ace combat,Hawx.Need more realism to stay interested although F-22 on the Sega Genesis was a lotta fun back in the day.Showing my age there. -
Sid you are in the wrong country. You would fit right in over here. :grin:Shame on the HS,those are rare(US property marked) and fetch a high price.

I used to say that when I died hold a big party with lots of good brew and a fireworks show. At the end of it prop my body up against several hundred lbs of TNT or C4 and detonate it,from a safe distance of course. It won't be a mess cause there won't be anything left.So I guess I'll choose blaze.

Where to start for combat fighter training?
SopmodMikeFour replied to chris2002rocklin's topic in The Pub
This is not an advertisement but I have been thinking about joining this group and using IL-2 with it. http://www.joint-ops.com/php2/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 If anything it might enhance your flying skills.I am not good at all when it comes to formation flying.Maybe its time to master it. There used to be a dedicated group that held a flight sim school using Falcon 4.0 that used real world USAF procedures and protocols.Sadly,I think it no longer exists.I used to just fly flight sims and not pay total attention to my avionics but the one thing that MS flight simulator really taught me was to really use your avionics and follow procedures. It taught me VFR,IFR,using VOR,etc. It really made a difference in my skills. -
All the talk of suppressors on revolvers reminds me of the suppressed 1895 nagant. Also tunnel rats in nam used suppressed S&W's in 38 special.I have photos in a book somewhere. The word "silencer" is a misnomer. No firearm is truly silent but the sound can be suppressed to a point by using a suppressor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvF4yurWSc0

Good points, Being a hunter, firearm collector for most my life and having served my country I'll tell you it really irks me when I see some so-called weapons expert on TV make mistakes or the media throw out disinformation on the subject.I especially dislike when people call mags/magazines "clips". Everything to the media is an AK-47 or AR-15 and thus an assault rifle.So-called assault rifles really turn out to be handguns 99% of the time but the media never corrects their errors.Chalk it up to more insane anti-gun rhetoric.Another thing that irks me is calling a semi-automatic sporting rifle an assault rifle.I am sorry folks but cosmetic appearance doesn't make it so and that bipod, pistol grip, folding or telescopic stock, standard capacity mag*,or bayonet doesn't make it more deadly. *(yes a 15,17,20,30 round mag or any other number you care to insert can be standard capacity depending on the firearm in question,hi-capacity is a term created by the anti-gun crowd to create fear for a more dramatic reaction) An assault rifle has to have fully automatic capability and the majority of these rifles being called assault rifles do not.Class III (legal and registered fully automatic firearms)is a whole other ballgame.I really wish that the media and the left would stop the disinformation and attempted bans that luckily always fail when they come up for vote but they won't.

Yup minatures are the best if you have the room and an HO type train layout table for them.I used to have a handful of mechs in white metal.A madcat and a few others. Now that I got the space maybe Ill start a collection and the tedious painting of several lances.

PDFs effecting pen and paper RPGs now?Oh the horror. Didn't like when video games did it and surely do not like it with box games.I can't stand sitting and reading anything lengthy on a monitor.Makes the eyes go weird after a while.I prefer kicking back on a couch and reading paper.Nothing is better then a physical copy. Having come over from war games I also like the thicker and more durable cardboard counters over the thin kind that Fasa used in a lot of their games to.Don't last near as long with prolonged use.I think Yaquinto made the best counters. Those things were thicker then the Avalon Hill variety.

Up to 4th edition now huh?I have the 2nd edition mechwarrior RPG book.Just checked out their site.Lots of stuff. I was going through my old stuff and even found my RIFTs Robotech/Macross books.Memories....
-
Well that's great.I am going to have to head over to a game store and check them out.I always did want to get a few of the other games in the battletech universe like BattleForce and Aerotech.
-
From what I recall Fasa was bought out but the company that bought them let Battletech an Shadowrun sit in the dust pile and wouldn't do anything with it.Has someone now motivated Catalyst to re-market it?If so that's good because dedicated fans were pleading for years for a return.
