After seeing his younger brother Oliver linger in death from friendly fire, Heinz landed his “U.10” Fokker DVII at the Aerodrome of the 95th USAS on November 9, 1918 and became a POW. Distressed with death of his brother, Heinz commented after landing “The war will be over in a few days anyway”. His Fokker DVII is now on display at the Smithsonian.
