IX sqdn (grey) Tornado GRIA skin
Syrinx posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
File Name: IX sqdn (grey) Tornado GRIA skin File Submitter: NFG File Submitted: 21 Aug 2008 File Category: Tornado IX sqdn Tornado GR1A skin & decals. Only for the superb TornadoPackage by AD, Sundowner, Florian, Bunyap & Dave. This should work ok in WOE\WOV\WOI\SFG or wherever you have the above aircraft installed. The skin is a rework of an original hi-res by Sundowner with some weathering and tweaking from myself so all credit really goes to Sundowner. You may if you wish include these fuselage serials into any RAF Tornado skin and they will be correct. NFG. Released under CombatAce Fair-Use terms. Increasing Skyraider rudder effectiveness
Syrinx replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hmmm....lets put it this way: I had no problem with my rudder until you mentioned it Yes you're quite correct. Pee-poor rudder response in the air. I always found this was acceptable on the ground, taxying or taking off though. I'm not too familiar with the fm parameters but I'll start tweaking a bit, see what happens. -

Modding and Realism
Syrinx replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Well Stiglr, if you'd be embarrassed to release a plane with a "borrowed" pit then that's your choice. What you are inferring here is that people that do this should be embarrassed too? Some guys are just starting out modding, everyone's got to start somewhere. Excellence comes of experience, it takes time and can be a steep learning curve. I'm more than happy to "pat someone on the back" for even the tiniest mod. It's called contributing to the community. In fact you could say these folks are standing on the shoulders of giants because there are some extremely talented people here. Of course the community values complete and accurate work, but it also values the the humblest of work and I for one will always stick up for these people. It's not mollycoddling it's encouraging. I too prefer to call it as I see it and I see this: A half-baked attempt to come across as trying to be helpful yet in reality it smacks of a condescending attitude to the community as a whole and quite franky a thinly-veiled advertisement for Targetware. Everyone is entitled to their opinion Stiglr, nothing wrong with that at all. And look...no eggshells as far as I can see. -

Super Hornet G Limit question
Syrinx replied to deyv's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Do modern aircraft that use FBW technology have different settings for g-loads etc. I mean, in peacetime you might not want to pull 9g or 6-7g sustained for any number of reasons. In war, you probably would if you had to. Is there a "war" setting for want of a better word (simplistic generalization I know) that would enable the FBW computer to add more flexibility and give more freedom to a pilot ? Allow him\her to push the envelope right to the edge instead of within safe limits ? -
lol. When that globe rose out of the arena floor there was a collective gasp and lots of oohs and ahhs in my house. Couldn't do that here, the HSE would go beserk ! Still, good show China.

Wings over South Ossetia anyone ?

I watched a bit of it and what I saw was impressive. Also, let's keep the politics out of this particular thread and concentrate on the spectacle ! Couldn't help thinking though, all those hundreds in their lighty-up suits dancing around, I bet one of em must have been busting for a pee Also Sarah Brightman singing...good on yer girl. Wonder what London will do in 2012 ? Can't see 'em topping that display.

So what do you fly?
Syrinx replied to serverandenforcer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You all know what I fly mostly. Apart from that, tend to fly RAF only. Tornado, Jaguar & Harrier. Have a soft spot for MF's latest A-7's too. Then again, depends on my mood I suppose. Have been know to strap a Mig to my ass on occaison (metaphorically speaking of course), tovarisch ! -

F-35A Lightning II

That does look rather special. Can't wait to get some RAF\RN roundels on her... Cheers. -
Sentry AEW.1 flying under the cloudbase over my house today. Thunderstorms today too, a lot of CB's. Looks like he was heading back to his homebase at Waddington. I see these AWACS regularly flying over. Not too long ago I was treated to the sight of a Sentry, Sentinel and Nimrod in formation. Again, presumably on their way to Waddington.
