CVN-75 Harry S. Truman - Modern CVW-3
PureBlue replied to SkateZilla's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
you can use the in-game Mission Editor. Insert a CV-75 object and have your flight take off from there. (must be a carrier capable aircraft) -

Mission Editor Question and Help
PureBlue replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Dave it's because the Carrier turns into the wind at mission start. For example set all the ships sailing 90deg. East. And set the Wind Direction E (yes it's backword in SF) What I do is first make a rough design in ME, Save. Open the file in Notepad and edit in the ships, their starting locations and waypoints. Then go back to ME, insert the flights & their waypoints / targets. Save. Go back to Notepad one last time to set all ships Startime=0 (and also other flights if you want them to take off from a adjacent carrier) Then this becomes a template for multiple different mission designs involving carrier groups.. Some examples, note they include various mods. One can edit out unwanted stuff. Missions.rar Tip: I think the Carriers' speeds will be inserted automatically by ME from the objects data.ini. I edit these to get all ships going at similar pace. [MovementSystem] MaxRoadSpeed=15 MaxOffRoadSpeed=15 -

Green Hell 3
PureBlue replied to Stary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
GreenHell is still great, but the terrain settings have been changed by some of the Patches. For one, object fading is implemented. Check the Options.INI in your MOD folder. Disable Fading and see if you like it. -

Video Card Settings...
PureBlue replied to dare2's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Is this a stock install? or do you have any effects mods? You're running DX10 already if this is an SF2 game with default options. Also Check to see if you all have Highest settings in the game Graphics Options menu.. -
Video Card Settings...
PureBlue replied to dare2's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Hi, what kind of curious effects? Any screenshots? On another note: I've been playing with my gfx settings to get the best picture quality lately, here's a few pointers. (ATI 5870 1GB, SF2 latest patch) Forcing AA level from the driver (ATI Tray tools - ATT - for me) has no effect. AFAIK this is because the engine uses DX10 deffered shading So I left it as Application Controlled. The only way to change AA level is from the options.ini. I went for the default 4x here, since 8x didn't seem to matter much. AF, Since the game options.ini didn't have it, I forced this through the ATT to 16x. You can tell the difference from far terrain textures. -

SEAD
PureBlue replied to skwabie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
AFAIK the game-engine keeps track of destroyed objects. Like a bridge you dropped could still be down next time you fly over it. I think the repairtime varilable (in the terrain_types.ini) would determine how long the object will take to repair. -

PureBlue replied to Romflyer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
How do you all interpret the included LHA ? LHD-1 Wasp commussioned 1989, LHA-1 Tarawa in 1976. (The ini files pointed to LHD-1 if I remember correctly) Which version of Harrier would it be operating? And if not, there are quite a few DLC opportunities for features not making the release date.. -

Fly as a wingman.
PureBlue replied to dare2's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
You use to be able to fly as wingman or section leader, on a custom mission. This variable in the MSN mission files controlled it: PlayerPositionID=1 Not much changed in game mechanics or radio calls, but you would get to fly formation and try to keep up with the leader. And if the mission was setup good, it would be tough but fun. For example some YAP1 missions.. But this seems to be broken for a while. No matter what you set it to, you fly as number 1. -

This just keeps getting better.!! The waves look pretty good, i would guess there is even a few different sea states. Parking spots on carrier too! Wouldn't that Prowler need to move for the recovery configuration? There is also a helo (maybe 2 ?) on the carrier, in the shot with the Tomcat fly over. The terrain looks absolutely gorgeous. (I love snow) -
