SF2 Mission Editor?
PureBlue replied to Silverbolt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Thank you Kreelin It says in the readme, the one you just deleted but I'll still remind you guys, make sure to rename the kmd.exe different if you have multiple installs. Or else it wont ask you for a new mod directory on first startup. -

Anatolian Terrain (WIP)
PureBlue replied to PureBlue's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Thanks Kevin, Got side tracked w/ decalling, it could be worse then tiling I tell ya! some surprise attractions are being planned, this will come handy. These tiles dont have HM bmps so they're all flat, some places would look a lot better w/ them probably. The terrain height map is set to a scale of 14 (highest peak possible is 14x256) So the sea is 0m high and the first level I can go is 14m. That makes it a pain to position these airbases close to the coast. But they are like this in reality, so I try. Here's a technique I use: get two screenshots of the area I work on, a texture view and a height view, put them on top of each other and play w/ opacity. Now I can see where I have to fill and how much. 'Adjust sea level' function wouldn't allow me to have a flat threshold here.. I wish we could merge the exported bmps of the texture tile map and height map, (output by TE) but they got different colormaps in gimp! so I put the above picture on one side and edit the height bmp on another window, its kinda pita, any suggestions or photoshop magic you can pull? -

Modding acft for SF2-Vietnam
PureBlue replied to mppd's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The fake pilot method, in the SF2 series is different. Now that the pilot models have their own folder under Objects/Pilots. And the ejection seats go in there too. I always give the reference to F-35 SF2 version, it's got a pilot in there. I got a partly done F-16C/40 Night Falcon mod based on the WOI Netz w/ chin pods Lantirn loaded, I'll post it for example. -
Is it just me?
PureBlue replied to EricJ's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I have to say, this happened to me couple of times lately. No maverick models are drawn but the weapons worked alright. Cant remember which airplane I had. It's a modded installation of course but it should be clean, just kb's ordinance shop and few weapons added. community aircraft & terrains. Not very helpful sorry, I'll check the parameters next time it happens. -

Markings question
PureBlue replied to Sheriff__001's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
From TW decal tutorial: (I must have gotten it from TK's site, or here?) DecalLevel=0 –> Nation ID DecalLevel=1 –> Squadron ID DecalLevel=2 –> Aircraft Number DecalLevel=3 –> Kill Number So your decals.ini looks to be correct, I'm baffeled too now -

Incirlik AB, Adana, w/ occasional busy NATO traffic. Andravida AB, home to Phantom Squadrons Mars and Ajax, among others. Using Gepards beautiful airbases mod. Balikesir AB, 9th Main Jet Base of Turkish AirForce. 2 Squadrons of Vipers, home to Thunderstreak and Starfighter birds in the past. View from the roof of the highest hotel in Limnos (Never been there so..) A pier to be built, while testing a new tool ;) Merzifon AB near Black Sea coast, Getting my feet wet with 3d studio. SF2:E airfield textures have changed a bit, this will need fiddling still. Many many target areas yet to be created, Factories, Land/Naval Bases, S-300, Nike, HAWK and Patriot sites; Convoys to spice things up.. Please feel free to comment, any contribution is welcome w/ target areas, special places that you think should be on here, skins you'll whip up :D I'll keep loggin progress and try to get out a beta soon, thanks for reading! -
Anatolian Terrain (WIP)
PureBlue replied to PureBlue's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Silverbolt, couple of naval bases will be there for sure, carefully placed as close to the real thing. Going hiking in Google earth! There are two Meko200 types already in that harbour shot, I think the Main Med base is at Marmaris, I have to do some research too. Wrench, that base is da bomb, discovered it last nite, perfect for the army bases in the north, where the land battle ought to be I guess.. Got to go crazy w/ the types.ini right? :D Ships and tanks, radar sites. Signs too! I have a few single missions of historical engagements planned (some confirmed, some unconfirmed stuff as is the custom here :) and perhaps a campaign of the Cyprus events, para dropping and amphibious operations, though this can stir up some stuff I dont intend, this is all for us armchair pilots, no contreversial stuff needed. Of course the terrain needs to be ready, to develop these.. Focusing on that for a while at least. Edit: Oh yes those tods are Stary's from 4 seasons, lots of variety, 2x trees are greay, but that should be customizable at the end. -

PureBlue replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The AI would shotgun if they were on a SEAD mission. If on a CAS mission, they go for the tanks, in this case launchers are considered tanks I guess. It's the way its designed. In campaigns normally you'd have an accompanying Iron Hand flight, migcap and so on. Everybody does their own job :) -
The rear fuselage lights are out of position with the skin?
PureBlue replied to AGOSTINO's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Errr, trial and error budy... You have to change the values; and then keep checking from the game. And its not a bug, its a misplaced light.. -
New, updated version of the Darwin/Indonesia Terrain Up
PureBlue replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Good stuff Wrench Interesting places to see here, I took my Viper on a Sead mission last night, ran out of fuel over target area, bailed out in the crazy jungle! Got to watch out the gauges next time, long commute to work I must say I was going over what you cooked in the targets and types ini. Cant find these in my ships archive, neither here on combatace: Subchaser, PGM, Nanuchka2. Are these some old stuff, thats not available any more? If they are around, just say look more carefully -
F-35 Pilot Model Rigging
PureBlue replied to Klavs81's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
In SF2? Yes they have their own Pilots folder under Objects now. (Look at F-35 package for example) Sorry if you know this already It's way too early morning here, no coffee yet. -
Wings Over Israel - How to bomb manually?
PureBlue replied to WarrenG's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Welcome Warren! Ground pounding the old way is the best part in this game. It's hard and dangerous, you'll get the hang of it in time. There are certain parameters you must follow when dropping an iron bomb, your speed, dive angle, pickle height. I'm not an expert, so I'll let others chime in for advice. Here's a few pointers: The Bombing Range, great addon terrain from Wrench, comes with a complete manual on bombing! http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6164 Weapon delivery techniques, simhq: http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_055a.html Also search this forum for manual bombing, lots of interesting threads to be found. watch out for the guns -

SF2 Mission Editor?
PureBlue replied to Silverbolt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ok I figured it out. KMD will work if you merge your mod install to your main install. I tested in SF2:E, successfully creating a few missions and flying them. All airfields are registered, targets are there, loadouts and skins available for addon aircraft. (For stock you must extract and put them in respective folders.) Basically turn your SF2 series install to a 1st generation structure. I have a tip for using a symbolic link for the terrains folder. That way you wont have to have a copy of it wasting space. For the utility goto: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb896768.aspx -
Single aircraft purchases?
PureBlue replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Most likely no. There's so many quality stuff around for free. TK should concentrate on fixing broken things and enhancing gameplay/AI, but that's another topic. -
SF2 Mission Editor?
PureBlue replied to Silverbolt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ok here's my experiments, I copied everything in the mod folder to the main installation. Just like the old games, all content is now inside the same folder. Options file set to use this setup. Changed name of Terrains folder to Terrain (temporarily), since this is what was used before. KMD (installed in main folder) wont let me set take off airfield. "No airfields to takeoff from...blah.. " LeMissionoire, first set install folder. It registers airfields and aircraft correctly. Loadouts, skins are fine w/ addon aircraft but the stock ones need their respective files pulled out of cat files? I successfully created a mission, the only missing thing was the "Name" of the flight, I suppose something from flight.cat needs to be extracted, for LeMis. to be able to read them. Still there are other problems I'm sure, the folder structure is different, the editors are written for the old games, we have to figure out the workarounds at time being.. Interesting thing; SF2:E doesnt come with any Single Missions, I copied the F-15/Mig dogfight from WOE but the mission loads up w/ the first addon terrain installed, instead of the proper GermanyCE terrain! Pretty weird.. -
