  1. Thanks Wrench, that did it. I was thinking since they were new models, they would be self contained. It really needs the lods from the original woe cat. So it switches to the plain old TW model from a distance Nevermind, I dont know anything about this modelling & lod business.
  2. Hey Dave, any trick to getting the F4-E ARNs to work? (Sf2 merged) The external model doesnt show up (only weapons) and the cockpit is missing too. I'm trawling through the ini files, are all these file definitions case sensitive now?
  3. Yes, the way Baltika explained, allows you to put certain SAM batteries in historically correct spots. Interestingly sometimes in the game, you will have less launchers than you defined. Example you had put 4 Hawk launchers but only 2 show. I know it depends on the Enemy Air Defense setting but I have it set to High always and still this dissappearing happens.. I recall it being discussed here before.
  4. There was a thread a while ago about getting the old ones to work. For kmd, copy it to your mod folder. It checks your aircraft and groundobjects folders and lists them correctly. For the terrain you have to have something in your terrains folder. Addon terrains are fine but for defaults you must copy certain files to your mod folder. (_datas, targets,types.. I'm guessing) Other way is merge your mod folder into your installation folder, and make a self contained game. I just tried Missionneier too, and couldnt get it see any terrains..
  5. Cant get enough of these, thank you sundowner
  6. Are you stoned yet? There's quite a few new things to discover.. Just finished installing my SF2:E, off to fly w/ the new cockpits and check out the rwr, yehhuu.. It's possible to merge SF2:V and SF2:E, without having the original SF2, right?
  7. Ok this is what I did. I have a seperate SFP1 installation for Falklands as such: D:\gamez\sfp1.Falklands Under this I copied all the files that come with the mod. So when I had to change the pointers to the text files you mention above I changed them to: D:\gamez\spf1.Falklands\Flight\FlightUKMedalVC.txt ... etc Meaning, you have to give the full path to the file. Also read through this release thread and search for other Falklands/Malvinas threads in combatace; Lots of good info AND There are a few fixes made by different people, example new campaign text files.
  8. Check out how some of the aircraft released for SF2 have it. I think you have to copy them under: ..MOD_Directory\Objects\Decals\Aircraft name\ folder, for the F-35A, the tga files are inside ..MOD_Directory\Objects\Decals\F-35A\
  9. Beautiful work, Thank you!
  10. Nevermind Knowledgebase has the answer.
  11. I have a question, with the old SF series, a weaponname.ini contained references to different LODs of the weapon, distances these LODs used and shadows; now every weapon has its own folder with the weaponname.ini that defines ObjectFullName and ObjectDataFile. Just wondering how the game goes about displayin different LODs of the weapon, since it doesnt really know about them, or does it? When converting old weapons, should I just ignore the old lod definitions? Thanks.
  12. Thanks for all your contributions pappy. I'm hoping, and positive that most your data will be saved, in the hands of recovery professionals. So you might be back after a vacation
  13. You boot w/ the Memtest86 CD to test your memory. Very useful program but can take a long time. I dont think anything is wrong with your memory, if this is the only case you have a crash. It's just that SF2 can not find the data, where it is looking for it. So the application crashes when it references a nonexisting data block in memory. Or something like that :) I just tried Afganistan in SF2:V and it loads good. I copied both Afghan terrain folder and IsraelME from WOI. Only problem is, the airfields are not there; for some reason I blow up entering the mission. Other than that no CTDs here. Edit; Interesting, like Wrench said perhaps the CatFile=..IsraelMe.cat reference doesnt work. No objects are around the terrain is bare naked. ONLY After I copy all files extracted from IsraelMe.cat to the Afghanistan terrain, everything is right where it should be..
  14. Super stuff, thank you!
  15. Thanks. Do you mean, how to increase shell damage? If so, from gundata.ini I suppose. Caliber parameter perhaps
  16. Hey Rebel, this is very good. Although I couldn't find nvs_a1, had to replace them with a T34 tank. Anyway the M109 artillery effects are a lot better now, perhaps only the shockwave is too pronounced. Before these effects the shells wouldnt even blow up. Good job The mission is very good too, huge assault on the airfield, fireworks everywhere!
  17. You're right it works perfect, I forget you had to put kmd in the game directory.
  18. If you cut power there's a chance to put out the fire. I got hit on a Desert Storm CAS mission in an A-10 today, starboard engine started burning, my cockpit all lit up, luckily it went out after I pulled back on the throttles. My ailerons were busted and when I checked the gauges both engines were running fine So I kept pounding the Iraqi tanks.. Made it home safely too.
  19. I couldnt get KMD to work. I think KMD is not compatible after the new 2008 patches. Not able to change aircraft or ground objects.. The other mission editor, LeMissioneire works. In any case you have to check the 'take off from airfield' box and determine the starting airfield. Which terrain are you trying? Some terrains have airfields that are not leveled correctly thats why you sink to the ground..
  20. The Terrain Editor Thread

Is this the upper left corner of your terrain? If I'm not mistaken that coordinates are east of Rhode Island. I tried the values in TE, and it asked for a second DEM file, so download all the ones you need and feed them to TE. I think you need 4 DEMs. Let me download them and see whats up. Edit: Ok your coordinates are in the ocean. It only comes up as a small island in the middle of Atlantic. I used different LongLat and fed in the w100n90 and w100n40 with a 800km map this is what I came up with. It's weird because I've been trying for a while and I kept getting somewhere in Greenland.. In my experience if your area covers 4 DEMs, then you feed in the order of: 1 2 3 4 But in your case it was just 1 and 3. Hope this example helps?
  21. The Terrain Editor Thread

Hi Viggen, so your Height field is not showing. What long and lat are you inputting? and is the area you defined completely inside W100N90? (guessing you're using the 1000km box as in the tutorial) This happens if the DEMs you load are not the ones TE expects. If your area is on the corners it might need more than 1 DEM file.
  22. I usually study the map at mission briefing and figure out what other flights will be participating and their call signs. Depending on the target and if there'll will be migcap or sead flights in hand, I determine the loads. I load Flight 2 with A2A if there will be no escort or Sead loadouts otherwise. Then I check for the best ingress and egress route. (Remember some of the waypoints can be changed from the planning map). During the mission, I follow the radio chatter w/ call signs of other flights and watch their progress. Making sure to keep my flight away from migs so they dont freak out and jettison all ordanance. Then over target area give the usual attack ground order to flight 2 and keep w/ my wingman to go for the primary. There's a formations mod in the downloads section. Adds a few more options, eg top cover.. Also a Communications mod that allows to give your wingman a formation order. But unfortunetly no way to make other flights strike primary or do other clever stuff.
  23. Yes it's great, thanks rebel!
